EMPLOYMENT AND PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Novatek, Inc. Provo, Utah
Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Intern 2012-2015
Directed various projects through their stages of development, for example:
Designed down-hole drilling tools Pro-E and Creo 2.0 solid models, choosing the proper
materials, and coordinating with machinists to ensure manufacturability.
Completed drawing packages for prototypes to be made in the machine shop.
Manufactured various parts using the CNC or manual mill and lathe, and other processes.
Developed test plans for prototype drilling tools that were performed at a horizontal drill site to
simulate downhole conditions, for example:
Erosion tests to measure wear given different flow rates, pressures, and grit content
Rate of penetration, force of pistons, and flow rate measurement tests
Machine efficiency tests to determine whether we contract out or make certain parts in-house
Power consumption tests
Reviewed test results and made modifications to the design or direction of each project.
Coordinated with electrical and software engineers, machinists, and drill-site technicians in every
stage of development.
Managed interns in order to expedite each project’s completion.
BYU Senior Capstone Project Provo, Utah
Project Designer, Developer, and Machinist 2012-2013
Designed and created a neonatal ventilator for third world medical facilities.
Reduced the cost of the final product to under $500 by including only the essential components,
designing our own electronics, and using reliable but affordable purchased parts—typical ventilators
used in U.S.A. around $40,000.
Presented the ventilator design and performance to different audiences: investors, engineering
professors, and the general public.
Risun Technologies Murray, Utah
Warehouse Technician and Engineering Assistant 2004
Supported in the manufacturing of parts and assemblies produced by the engineering firm.
Increased production of aluminum labeling tags by 50% for projects made in-house.
Improved the appearance and functionality of the firm’s office and warehouse.
