EXPERIENCE
IDEX HEALTH AND SCIENCE, Rohnert Park, California
Mechanical Engineer II, Dec. 2013 - Nov. 2014
Designed highly complex valves used in High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) applications. Owned and managed numerous projects,
from kick-off to release, including entire design and validation phases of projects. Designed to product requirement specifications and created
BOMs. Used SolidWorks to create 3D models, as well as part and assembly drawings (ISO-compliant). Sourced parts, created test procedures
and conducted tests in lab to validate design. Created product specification sheets and supported manufacturing engineers after design and
validation phase up to product release. Led design reviews and gate meetings, presenting design and validation to all upper management at
company. Collaborated with senior scientists and engineers on research and development of new materials, designs, and IP opportunities.
Released seven products. Retained major customer by designing valve to specifications.
Researched new materials that kept company as leader in industry.
Worked closely with many departments, including quality, metrology, materials and purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and product
management to ensure successful release for product.
Collaborated with machinists and suppliers to hold tolerances on parts as tight as ±0.001. Worked closely with customers to meet all
product demands and expectations.
Used project management program to ensure completion of projects on time and to communicate with team and upper management
on progress of projects.
Troubleshot issues found in released products, created engineering change requests, and redlined drawings when issues were found in
released products (in compliance with ISO 9000).
OLISO INC., San Francisco, California
Product Engineer, Jun. 2012 – Aug. 2013
Responsible for development of new products, as well as technical support for existing product lines. Conducted product design, including
research and theory, CAD modeling, building works-like and looks-like prototypes in machine shop, testing, and scientific analysis.
Formulated testing and internal quality control procedures. Communicated daily with manufacturers in China to ensure projects met highest
quality and were delivered within deadlines.
Created new testing methods that allowed completion of three times more testing in one day than previous methods.
Averted recall by troubleshooting multiple problems in product due to new manufacturer.
Performed thermal modeling and finite element heat transfer analysis for state-of-the-art induction Sous Vide cooktop.
Wrote MATLAB programs that significantly reduced time taken for data analysis, wrote code for Arduino for electromechanical
prototypes, and created circuits to automate testing of products while also making tests more efficient and reliable.
Provided continuous technical support for multiple existing product lines alongside development of new product lines without missing
deadlines or milestones.
Offered rework and new production solutions for electrical and mechanical problems.
Senior Design: Motorized Two-Wheeled Self-Balancing Skateboard, Project Leader, 2011-2012
Managed a mixed group of mechanical, electrical, and computer science engineers. Responsible for budget, fundraising, and
deadlines, and set all tasks for group among research and development of project.
Built an originally-designed, self-balancing motorized skateboard from the ground up. Fully theorized, modeled, wrote control
algorithm, tested, and built a working prototype to strict tolerances.
Project won honorable mention at Science Showcase against +150 graduate and undergraduate projects.
