4. INTRODUCTION
• Precision machining is a type of technical manufacturing that is essential in creating and designing machines, parts, tools, and
other hardware that are essential in modern manufacturing to maintain process controls and tolerances that function under
extremelytight specifications.
• Precision Machining can be defined as utilizing the highest function of a tool, program, engineering talent, or equipment thus
pushing the limits of design feature creation and materials science and performing these operations under the tightest
tolerances defined by any sub-set of these manufacturing parameters.
• The real art of precision machining comes with the marriage of computer-controlled design and human-engineered design for
the creation of unique features and highly controlled output and functionality driven by advancements in fluid dynamics,
chemicalcontrol, mechanical, climate extremes, and durability required in modern hardware technologies.
6. HAMMAC ENGINEERING PVT
LTD
• Hammac Engineering Private Limited found in 2012 by BP Products entrepreneur MR. Nandakumar. P with a motto of
“Endeavored to develop epitome of ethical and long-lasting relationships both with our clients and vendors, we are
committed to channelizing our capacity to manufacture products that fulfill our customer’s expectations.”
• BP Products was started by Mr. Padmanabhan in the year 1993 with a single lathe with a capital investment of Rs
50,000. Then stage by stage as B.P. Products infrastructure crossed 3 corers, his son Mr. Nanda Kumar took over as
Director –B.P. Products successfully in the year 2005.
• Since its inception almost 17yrs back, B.P Products Name changed to Hammac Engineering Pvt Ltd is a supplier of
Precision Machined components.

10. Work done in four weeks
Week – 02
Learn about quality and
manufacturing components
With production department
Week – 03
We are with the planning and
purchasing & service dept
Got full knowledge about
VMC and its operations
Week – 04
Completely spent with the
planning dept spent more time
in creating process sheets and
2D drafting's
Week - 01
Introduction about company
and brief learning about
precision machining
11. Week - 01
Brief introduction to HAMMAC ENGINEERING PVT.LTD from the Plant Head
‘Study and Work’schedule for the next 4 weeks.
My first week’s schedule was in both the design and production departments. In the design department, I got
knowledge of 3D design in solid edge whereas in college I was doing 3D design in the solid edge.
I learned different types of Machine Tools, Precision Machined Components.
I learned to know the rebalancing work they will do inthe production department.
12. Week - 02
I learned what all the quality departments will do, in HAMMAC ENGINEERING PVT.LTD they have lots of sub-
contractors and sub-vendors who manufacture Precision Machined Components according to HAMMAC
ENGINEERING PVT.LTD design. This is done to reduce machine and manpower investment.
The components manufactured outside HAMMAC ENGINEERING PVT.LTD has been checked dimensionally
and also mechanical and chemical properties of metals are checked.
in design I got some knowledge of drafting and also bill of materials where in my 3rd Sem there was a CAMD lab
we were doing this work in that lab.
I gained valuable knowledge of using basic measuring instruments in the Mechanical engineeringdept.
13. Week - 03
My 3rd-week schedule was with the planning andpurchase department & service department
In the planning and purchase department they clearly explained how they give purchase orders and work orders in
ERP software, and they explained GRNand SCN.
In this week I was let to see the VMC machine working, thepress machine working, the press tools working, and the
welding and drilling machine working.
Planning and purchase department are the backbones of the production department
With the service department I visited the end client cum owner factory for 2 days because there was a buffing
factory where we wanted to buff the material whichneed to be used
14. Week - 04
In this week I was completely working in the planning department where partners of the company were
visiting a company, so I was working on schedules.
I revisited the end client cum owner factory to get thematerial from other factories.
In this week I also worked as a quality-checking assistant.
Also inspected the machine products with exact dimensions matching.
I was rectifying the basic problem in their PC.
15. CASE STUDY- PRECISION MACHINING OF TRUNION
• Precision machining of the hydraulic trunnion, is a component that is
used in Wipro earth movers.
• Steps involved in the precision machining are as follows-
Inhouse from forging
Incoming inspection
Conventional lathe
Rough boring
Internal boring
Taping and treading
Grinding and buffing
Inspection
Packing
Dispatch
16. Machining steps
• Inhouse inspection-the batch wise products are brought into the production
line and it is inspected to check the faulty components.
• Conventional lathe- this is the first machining done after inspection, where
the trunnion stem is machined for the required dimensions.
• Rough boring- here where the larger diameters are created which is
usually done in CNC, here uneven surfaces are created because it is done
quickly and roughly.
• Internal boring- here the uneven surface is created by rough boring which
is machined with a high degree of precision and accuracy and is done in
CNC.
17. • Taping and threading- this is done to give
internal and external threads to the workpiece
taping is usually done for internal thread in a
hole whereas threading is done to give an
external thread.
• Grinding and buffing- it is the final step of the
machining and grinding is done to remove
abrasive particles on the surface of the
workpiece whereas buffing gives surface polish
to the workpiece.
• Inspection - inspected the machine products with
exact dimensions matching.
18. Inspection gauges used for quality checking
