2. What does it mean to be a good member of
the family? What is the importance of being a
good family member?
3. Each of us is a member of a family. Our
parents gave us life. Parents have a big
responsibility to play in the family.
4. They provide us love and care and we love them
back. We share that love with our siblings- with kuya
and ate and the little ones, including the baby in the
family. Our parents provide our needs and guide us.
5. Our siblings play with us and keep us
company. They are also there to help us and cheer
us up.
6. You Can Count on Me
It was Friday afternoon. James just got home from school.
He noticed his mom looking worried.
“Are you okay, Mom? Are you feeling well?” asked James.
“I am a bit worried,” his mom answered. “Your Uncle Fred just
called. He said they would be taking your grandmother to the
hospital. She is not feeling well,” his mom continued.
7. “Why not go visit Grandma at the hospital?” asked James.
His mom replied, “I would really like to, but who is going to take
care of your brother?” “I will take care of him”, James answered,
“I am a big boy now. I can take care of Ben, Mom. If I need help,
I can always go to Ninang Josie. She only lives next door, or I
can call Dad,” said James confidently. “Go visit Grandma, Mom.
Tell her to get well soon.”
8. “Thank you, James. You are such a good boy. I will be back
right away. I will try to get home before Ben wakes up from his
nap,” James’ mom said. “I will also call your Ninang Josie and your
Dad so they can check up on you from time to time. I really
appreciate your help, Son,” she added.
After two hours, James’ mom returned home. She was smiling
as she kissed James, “Grandma is going to be alright, James. The
doctor said that it was a good thing Uncle Fred took her to the
hospital right away.”
9. “I am really happy that Grandma is going to be fine. I am
glad you visited her, Mom,” said James. “I am very glad, too,
James. I would not have been able to visit her had you not
volunteered to look after your little brother. Thank you,” said
James’ mother.
“You are welcome, Mom. I was glad to do it,” James said.
10. “Oh, before I forget, I have something for you and Ben. I
bought you hot pandesal, butter, and buko juice for merrienda.
Come on, let us wake Ben up and eat merienda,” said James’
mother.The two of them went to Ben’s room to wake him up.
11. • It is such a good feeling to belong to a family. Our
family is where we first experience selfless love.
• As a family member, we have certain duties and
responsibilities to fulfill. By being a good member of
the family, we help maintain peace and unity.
12. • A good family member helps strengthen family ties by
participating actively in family activities, like praying,
eating meals, and visiting relatives.
• A happy, loving family is where there is mutual respect,
understanding, and kindness among all the members. Each
member does his o her part in keeping the family together.
