4. Most Friendly and Most Polite
Von received an award on Recognition Day. He was
chosen “Most Friendly” and “Most Polite” among all the
students in his school.
Von has achieved something important for himself at
a very young age. It is because he treats other people
with courtesy and respect.
5. In school, he greets the janitors and guards
whenever he sees them. Greeting them is one way of
letting them know that he appreciates them and
recognizes their importance.
During recess, Von falls in line and waits for his turn
at the canteen. He knows that everyone is patiently
waiting for his turn to be served. This is another way of
showing respect to other people.
6. Von also uses polite expressions like, “Thank you’,
“You are welcome”, “I am sorry”, and “Po” and “Opo”.
These expressions show respect. By saying them
sincerely, he makes other people feel good and
important.
7. Von also plays games fairly. He avoids hurting his
friends and classmates. When he hurts one of them
unintentionally, he immediately says, “Sorry”.
Von treats other people with respect and kindness.
This is why he has many friends. When we respect other
people, we prevent misunderstandings and gain more
friends.
8. Remember that being courteous is one way
of showing respect for others. Respect is about
recognizing the importance of people around
you. It is also about being mindful of other
people’s feelings.
