USAID Jalin works to improve maternal and newborn health in Indonesia by facilitating collaborative action between government, communities, and other actors. Over 15,000 mothers and 90,000 newborns die in Indonesia each year from mostly preventable causes. USAID Jalin identifies priority areas for improvement like referrals and care quality by reviewing evidence. It works with provinces like Central Java and North Sumatra to co-create local solutions, such as improving services for factory workers or increasing financial support for community health programs. The project also strengthens the availability and use of maternal and newborn health evidence to guide policies and programs.
