amateur radio stations closed Thirty-three
year old John Charles Walsham Reith
became General Manager of the BBC on
14 December 1922, it wasn’t successful
at first as he had no idea what
broadcasting was or how it worked,
however people were still captivated by
the broadcasts. September 1923 the first

Hi-Vision (SHV) trialled
• Super Hi-Vision pictures consisting of 4000 picture
information is broadcasted from London to Tokyo
from BBC Studios
• It was invented by Japanese broadcaster NHK and
was supported by the BBC and used to showcase
certain events of the 2012 London Olympics in
Super Hi-Vision, many people say that watching an
event in SHV is just like being at a live event.

scheduled to show after 6 o’clock
