Physical changes occur during puberty, including growth of reproductive organs and changes in body composition and appearance. For boys, this includes voice deepening, growth of body and facial hair, broadening of shoulders. For girls, changes include breast development and widening of the hips. Cognitively, adolescents develop abilities to better evaluate risks and rewards but may feel less accepted by others and become more responsive to rewards and stress. Their relationships also change as they seek independence and spend more time with peers who share their interests.
