Michael Myers has returned after 20 years to hunt down Laurie Strode, who is now living under a new name at a private school with her son. The opening sequence introduces the film's title against a light vs dark backdrop, establishes it is set on Halloween, and shows Laurie discovering a boy dead at the school, indicating Michael has arrived.
