OBJECTIVES
OF
TEACHING ARTS
The elementary art curriculum is built
around these essential learning
objectives for all grades.
Learners should have the chance to
work and manipulate art materials to
gain mastery and self-efficacy, but
considering their appropriate grade
level should also be taken into
consideration.
1. Use art tools and materials
safely and independently.
2. Become confident with a wide variety of
art media & techniques.
 Learners may, at the same time,
explore their hidden talents as they
continue to use a variety of art media.
Working with artworks enhances one's
talents and confidence. They may also
develop their techniques as they work,
just like some prominent artists who
were renowned by their styles and
techniques in bringing their
masterpieces.
3. Learn basic art vocabulary, including
the Elements of Art.
 Learning the basic terminologies
and foundations used in art classes
will help the pupil gain more
understanding of its advanced
level.
4. Generate & express ideas
independently and as collaborators for
group projects.
 It helps pupils learn how to
collaborate inside and outside the
classroom. They will be given a
chance to build camaraderie and
also help them to know about their
selves.
5. Learn to recognize and use all stages of
the creative process.
 Being patience is essential for an
artist. Just like the scientific process,
to arrive at truth, one must follow its
proven steps. A beautiful work of art
involves a careful procedure and
persistence.
6. Gain awareness of the role of art
throughout history and across cultures.
 Understanding art history is an
appreciation of someone's culture. The
contributions of different countries in
the world of art today should be taught
in art classes too. It is to recognize the
differences between medium used,
techniques, and the important events
that happened in the past.
7. Develop confidence and experience joy
through creative expression.
 As art being a medium of expression,
allowing learners to feel pleasure as they
work. It could be concrete assessment
method without affliction.
