1. Unit 25: Film Studies presentation self-evaluation
For unit 25, point 4.1, I created a presentation along with Matthew Alder. This was then
presented to the other apprentices that did a presentation. Overall, I believe that the
presentation went very well, but could have been improved in a few ways.
Firstly, I believe our presentation went on for too long, which was mainly due to the vast
amount of information that we were giving. This could have been a problem as people may
have got bored, although I didn’t notice any of the audience losing interest.
Secondly, the presentation of us could have been better. The feedback given to us made us
aware that I was repeatedly sitting on the desk and had my hands in my pockets for the
majority of the presentation, which makes us look unprofessional and unconfident.
However, I believe several things were done correctly. Our presentation contained a lot of
information that went in depth with each point put forward and was always linked back to
the audience and demographic in some way. We also had good visuals in our power point as
we mostly used images as a visual aid to what we were saying and any text used was brief
and in large, easily visible fonts.
Following feedback from our peers, we were told that our presentation was very analytical,
giving a lot of information about several different points whilst using appropriate
terminology and covering every point in the unit. We also managed to keep the attention of
the audience despite the presentation being 20 minutes long. We also combated our
nerves, as Matty and I were both nervous about the presentation but those nerves were
soon calmed as we started. I believe that the main reason for this is that we were well
prepared and well rehearsed. I even managed to do the presentation without the use of cue
cards.
