2. Active voice
When the subject of a sentence performs the verb’s
action, we say that the sentence is in the active voice.
E.g:-The cashier counted the money.
Passive Voice.
A sentence is in the passive voice, on the other hand,
when the subject is acted on by the verb.
E.g:-The money was counted by the cashier.
The subject of the active verb is not expressed in
passive sentence and if it has to be mentioned,
then it is mentioned towards the end of sentence
with a by expression.
Form:-be + past participle of the main verb
3. The verb in passive has the same tense as the verb
in active.
Simple present passive:-
Form:-Subject+am/is/are+past participle of the main
verb.
E.g:-Reporters write news reports.(Active)
News reports are written by reporters.
Questions:-is/am/are+subject+past participle
Or wh-word+is/am/are+past participle
E.g:-Am I invited to the party?
What language is spoken in Nagaland?
4. Negative:-Subject+am/is/are+not+past participle
of the main verb.
E.g-Reporters do not write news reports.(Active
voice)
News reports are not written by reporters.
Simple Past Passive:-
Form:-Was/Were+not+past participle of the
main verb.
E.g:-The company hired new workers last year.
New workers were hired by the company last year.
5. Negative:-Was/Were+not+past participle of the
main verb
E.g:-The company did not hire new workers last year.
New workers were not hired by the company last year.
Question:-Was/were+subject+past participle of the
main verb.
E.g:-Was the room cleaned before you left?
6. Future Passive:-
Form:-Will+be+past participle of the main verb
E.g:-The company will hire new workers.
New workers will be hired by the company.
Negative:-Will +not+be+past participle of main verb
E.g:-The new phone will not be released in India
Question:-Will+subject+be+past participle of the
main verb
Or wh-word+will+be+past participle of the main verb
7. Present perfect Passive:-
Form:-Has/have+been+past participle of the main
verb
E.g:-They have already paid the bill.
The bill has been already paid by them.
Negative:-has/have+not+been+past participle
E.g:-The bill has not been paid yet.
Questions:-has/have+subject+been
E.g:-Has the bill been paid yet?
