3. How do I …?
• Help discover the innate potential in myself
I am not someone else’s creation. I do not live
Other’s lives. I am not living someone else’s
Dream and neither am I imitating someone else.
• Outline a vision and direction for myself
If I do not know where to go I will go nowhere
• Identify the methods to move towards it and
apply them
If I know not the methods I will go round & round
4. Questions to which I want answers
Do I know my characteristics, qualities, abilities and
limitations?
Do I know what I want to be and do in career and life—
My dreams?
What are the ways to achieve what I dream ?
Are they simple and doable?
5. How do I discover myself and my potential?
• Perhaps there are a set of questions which, if I
answer, they will help me discover myself to an
extent.
Some of the questions are:-
• What was the nature of the family I was born into—
nuclear, joint, rural, urban, well to do or not well to
do, religious, disciplinarian and so on..?
• Which are the people who somehow impressed me
or influenced me and for what reason?
• Which subjects, things, topics, activities seemed to
hold my interest most?
6. Contd..
• Out of a possible 100 how much did I miss out
learning during my school? Can I write down what I
missed out?
• Same as above in case of college?
• Am I obstinate, short-tempered, impulsive, lazy,
wasting time, thinking more but doing little,
postponing things, more of gossip less of value,
critising people, complaining of things, cursing my
luck…… rather than changing myself and adopting
new things?
7. Contd…
• Do I hang on, spend more time on whatsapp,
facebook and other social media and unable to
find time for improving my skills and knowledge?
• Do I read a newspaper, magazine, periodical,
story book at least some time or regularly ?
• Am I kind hearted, adjustable, committed,
sincere, laborious, workaholic, systematic,
regular, analytical, logical, truthful to myself,
putting in long hours, concept driven, clarity
seeking, curious to know things, and ….
• Am I shy, open, inhibited, initiator, follower,
talkative, sporting, forgiving, sensitive, and ….
8. My Responsibility, My Opportunity
If I do not explore by
• Reading discussing
• listening
observing
writing , how can I know myself?
• If I do not know myself fully, am I not missing out on various
opportunities?
9. Providing a vision and direction
What do I want to do?
In career
Job/business
in life
Social/religious/education/e
nvironment/development
10. Identify the methods to move towards it and apply them
• Discipline
• Persistence
• Investing in yourself through
Reading
Skilling
Acquiring additional qualifications
11. How to be …?
• Disciplined:
• Timeliness, keeping things in order, keeping good health,
learning the minimum that I should do to be competitive,
• I must know what I am supposed to know. I cannot cheat
myself even I if do not have to be brilliant or fantastic.
• How long will I fool myself?
• ONLY I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MYSELF
12. • A stitch in time saves nine; an apple a day keeps the doctor
away, searching for the needle in a haystack,
• What I forget today I will up pile for tomorrow
• Tomorrow never comes
• It is the busiest person who finds more time
• People are never killed by work, they are killed by laziness
13. Let us do simple things to implement discipline
• Keep the certificates in a file
• Keep photocopies of them in another file
• Get two sets of photocopies attested by a Gazetted officer or the
college Principal or some other authorized person and keep them
• Get ten copies of my passport size photo and stamp size photo
ready
• Get my Aadhar card ready
• Write down the names of two books with author’s name of each
subject which I studied/am studying from the First year of my
college life.
• Buy the syllabus for the course which I am studying. Let me go
through it at least once.
• Hang a calendar in my room
• Buy the following: gum stick, stapler, highlighting pen, black pen,
ten different sized envelopes…..
• AND …………IT IS FOR YOU TO DECIDE
14. How to be …
• Persistent (डटे रहो)
In your dreams
In your thoughts
In your efforts
But do so intelligently, diligently, smartly
LET ME DECIDE SOMETHING WHICH I WILL PERSIST WITH
15. • Invest in yourself
Through:
• READING
• SKILLING
• ACQUIRING NEW QUALIFICATIONS
16. Why Read?
• Facts and Figures
• New types of Jobs
• New types of training programs
• New technologies
• Analysis and Reports
• New types of businesses
• People who could do it successfully
18. • There are those who Listen and Forget
• There are those who Listen, Write and Keep it
• There are those who Listen, Write, Do and Persist & Achieve
THE CHOICE IS YOURS………………
THANK YOU—HAVE A GREAT FUTURE!!!!!!
