INTELEGENT NETWORK

All the present PSTN switches contains a fixed number
of services. To implement any new service in the
network, modification had to be made in all the switches
which leads to:
• Wastage of Time and Manpower.
• Fault prone implementation.
• Long Roll out time.
• Long and tedious implementation of correction and
modification patches.
WHY INTELLIGENT NETWORK (IN)?

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING FRAMEWORK
• Software modification required in all exchanges
• Introduction of new service takes long time
• Modifying or improving the service requires modification
of software
• Services are non- standard
• Advanced services are NOT possible
• Services across exchanges are difficult to create

• IN is a telephone network architecture in which logic
handling the call is located separately from switching
facilities.
• This allows services to be added or changed in the
network without having to redesign the switching
equipment.

routed to SSP through
the voice path
• SSP has the capability
to interact with the
database
• Mostly SSP is a
software upgrade of the
existing exchange

FUNCTIONS OF SSP
• Contains CCF and SSF and in case of LE CCAF.
• Provides Service trigger to SCP in case of IN Call
(identified by SAC).
• IN call handling as per instruction from SCP.
• Transiting of SRP messages from and to SCP.

• Playing of Announcements as per directive from SCP.
• Collection of User Information through DTMF and decadic
mode and forwarding the same to the SCP.
• In future it may support voice response system , voice
mail boxes, speech recognition system , text to speech
converter.

•Virtual Private Network (Voice VPN)
•Access Code 1801xyz[PNP number] (old 1601xyz)
•Features
•-Allows the subscriber to establish the private voice network
using PSTN & Mobile infrastructure
•-A virtual EPABX on all India basis
•-Fixed and Mobile Combined VPN service Launched which
allows the VPN of Fixed lines, Mobile-Prepaid and Mobile-
Postpaid

VPN DIALING SCHEME
On-net call Dial 1801xyzABC where ABC is the PNP number
Off-net call
a. Dial 1801180.
b. Announcement will be received “Please enter your calling
line number as identity”.
c. On dialing calling line number in international format,
announcement will be received “Please dial your PIN or your
PIN with PNP followed by # key”.
d. On dialing PIN with PNP, call will be routed to desired PNP
number.(on-net call)

• On dialing only PIN, announcement will be received
“Please dial your PNP number”.
• f. On dialing the outgoing code prefix and then the
required destination number in international format, call
will be routed to
the desired number. (off-net call)
(for Lucknow SCP, outgoing code prefix is 2)
