What is a run-on sentence?
- gives a complete thought or sentence.
- can stand by by its own.
Examples:
1. a. I'm going to the store.
b. I meet my friend.
1. a. The book was interesting.
b. The movie was even better.
- is a grammatical error that occurs when two or
more independent clauses are incorrectly joined
together without proper punctuation or a
coordinating conjunction.
- This error results in a sentence that is
excessively long and often lacks the necessary
breaks or connections between ideas, making it
difficult to read and understand.

On Sentences
Comma Splice
Fused Sentence
Polysyndeton
Polysyndeton is a
less common type
of run-on that
happens when too
many conjunctions
are used to keep a
sentence going.
A Comma Splice
occurs when two or
more independent
clauses are joined
by just a comma
and no coordinating
conjunction.
A Fused Sentence
occurs when two
independent clauses
are joined together
without any
connecting
punctuation.

  • 12. Types of Run On Sentences Comma Splice Fused Sentence Polysyndeton Polysyndeton is a less common type of run-on that happens when too many conjunctions are used to keep a sentence going. A Comma Splice occurs when two or more independent clauses are joined by just a comma and no coordinating conjunction. A Fused Sentence occurs when two independent clauses are joined together without any connecting punctuation.
