Best known as the co-
founder of Flipkart.
He was the CEO of
Flipkart.
Note: Kalyan Krisnamurthy is the
current CEO of Flipkart.
3. In 2007, he and his
friend Binny Bansal
founded flipkart.
4. A short Biography….
• He was born in Chandigarh, India, on 5th
August 1981.
• His father is a business man and his mother, a
homemaker.
• He graduated as a Computer Science engineer
from IIT, Delhi in 2005.
5. • He worked at Techspan
for few months.
• Later in 2006, he joined
Amazon as Senior
Software Engineer.
6. • While working with
Amazon, he met Binny
Bansal.
• Few months later, they
exited Amazon to start
their own venture.
• In 2007, they started an
online bookstore named
‘Flipkart’ with Rs4,00,000
in Koramangala, Bangalore
7. • They are the one, who brought the new
concept of “Cash On Delivery” in India.
• Due to customer trust and their superb
services, Flipkart raised $1 billion at a
valuation of$7 billion, in July 2014.
8. But……
• In 2015, Flipkart started to falter due to few
decisions taken by Sachin bansal in previous
years.
• 1st Decision was to close the flipkart site and
flipkart mobile app is to be used.
• 2nd decision was to stop ads and promotions…
9. • The second decision was intervened by the
board of fipkart.
• And that second decision, later became the
reason of his exit from flipkart.
• In 2018, Binny Bansal resigned, after facing an
allegation of “serious personal mis-conduct”.
10. • In 2018, Wal-Mart acquired 77% stakes in
Flipkart at $16 billion.
11. What after his exit?
• After exiting Flipkart, Sachin Bansal supports
the growth of Indian start-up ecosystem and
now he is again back in the game as an
investor and CEO.
• He has acquired 94 per cent stake in
Bengaluru-based microfinance company
Chaitanya Rural Intermediation Development
Services (CRIDS).
12. • In February 2019, he had investments in Ola,
Grey Orange, Ather Energy, SigTuple, Inshorts,
Unacademy and TeamIndus.

the world list.
• In 2017, India Today included Bansal and his co-
founder in India's 50 most powerful people list.
