3. PTSD is characterized by hyper Arousal Re experiencing of image of the
Stressful event and Avoidance of reminders.
PTSD is a reaction to extreme stressor such as flood, Earthquake, war
Rape or serious physical assault .
Definition- certain severe psychological consequences (stimulated by
action ) of exposure to or confrantation (challenging face
to face) with stress ful event that the person experience
as highly traumatic .

5. Etiology –
 Actual as threatened death or traumatic memories are experienced related to death
 Serious physical injury
 Childhood physical emotional or sexual abuse including prolonged or extreme neglect
 experience an event percieved like life threatening condition.
 Ex. A serious accident complications of disorder
 voilent physical assault(Sexual assault or Rape )
 Natural disaster

6. Clinical manifestations-
 Rest lessness
 Insomnia
 Agressiveness
 Chronic depression
 Memory loss
 Hyper arousal
 Anorexia
 Avoidence
 Irritability
 Anxiety

8. 1. Acute PTSD – after the duration of few weeks to One month
2. Chronic PTSD – in this type ,the symptoms persist for a more than 3 months.
3. Delay PTSD- it may progress to months,years and decades after the event.
