Motivation
1. Show a video clip demonstrating the consequences of not cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
2. Conduct a short quiz on the importance of cleanliness and maintenance in agricultural practices.
3. Share success stories of farmers who prioritize tool and equipment maintenance and the positive impact it has on their
productivity.
ACTIVITY
Activity 1: Cleaning Tools and Equipment
Materials:
- Various farm tools and equipment
- Cleaning materials (water, soap, brush, cloth)
Rubrics for grading
Instructions:
1. Introduce different farm tools and equipment to the students.
2. Explain the importance of cleaning tools and equipment after use.
3. Demonstrate the proper cleaning techniques using the materials provided.
4. Divide the students into groups and assign each group specific tools and equipment to clean.
5. Monitor and assess the students' cleaning process using the rubrics.
Assessment questions:
1. Why is it important to clean tools and equipment after use?
2. What are the consequences of not cleaning tools and equipment?
Activity 2: Routine Check-up and Maintenance
Materials:
- Different farm tools and equipment
- Maintenance checklist
- Rubrics for grading
Instructions:
1. Discuss the significance of routine check-up and maintenance in prolonging the lifespan of tools and equipment.
2. Provide the students with a maintenance checklist.
3. Demonstrate how to conduct routine check-ups and maintenance on selected tools and equipment.
4. Assign each student a specific tool or equipment to inspect and maintain.
5. Evaluate the students' ability to perform routine check-ups and maintenance using the rubrics.
Assessment questions:
1. Why is routine check-up and maintenance important for tools and equipment?
2. What are the steps involved in conducting routine check-ups and maintenance?
Activity 3: Sharpening and Oiling Farm Tools and Equipment
Materials:
- Dull farm tools
- Sharpening tools (file, whetstone)
- Oil
- Rubrics for grading
Instructions:
1. Explain the importance of sharpening and oiling farm tools and equipment.
2. Demonstrate proper techniques for sharpening and oiling selected tools.
3. Provide each student with a dull tool to sharpen and oil.
4. Supervise and assess the students' sharpening and oiling skills using the rubrics.
Assessment questions:
1. Why is it necessary to sharpen farm tools regularly?
2. How does oiling help in maintaining tools and equipment?
ANALYSIS
- Evaluate the students' performance in each activity based on the rubrics.
- Identify areas of improvement and provide constructive feedback to the students.
ABSTRACT
- Discuss the overall importance of cleanliness, maintenance, sharpening, and oiling in agricultural crops production.
- Highlight the long-term benefits of following proper procedures.
APPLICATION
- Present a real-life scenario where a farmer encounters problems due to neglecting tool and equipment maintenance.
- Challenge the students to come up with solutions and explain how proper maintenance practices could have prevented the
issue.
V. ASSESSMENT - Conduct a written test assessing the students' understanding of the importance of cleanliness, routine check-up and
maintenance, and sharpening and oiling.
