Roadways commonly used mean of
transport are the roads, especially for short
distance like cars, bus etc.
Roads can be metalled (pucca) and
unmetalled (Kutcha).
Roads are the mean to link the rural and
urban place across the country.
There are state highway and district roads
which connects all cities and towns.

6. WATERWAYS
Waterways are the oldest and the cheapest
mean of transport to carry heavy goods
from one country to other country.
Waterways are mainly of two types:-
Inland Waterways
Sea route/ Oceanic routes

8. INLAND WATETRWAYS
Inland waterways are any of the water
(as lake, canals, rivers etc.) Within the
territory of a state.{as contrasted with
the open sea or marginal} which may or
may not be connected to the Ocean.

10. SEA ROUTES
Sea routes are connected with
ports. Some of the important
ports of the world.
Eg:- Visakhapatnam, Chennai
and Mumbai

12. RAILWAYS
Railways is the fastest and cheapest
means of land transport. Diesel and
electric engines have the largely
replaced the steam engine. Electric
engines are fast and eco-friendly
and don’t pollution.

14. AIRWAYS
Airways is the fastest and most comfortable means of
transport and also the most expensive due to the cost of
fuels.
Air traffic is adversely affected by bad weather like fog
and storms etc.
It is the only mode of transport to reach the most remote
and distance areas especially where there are no roads and
railways etc.
Eg:-Helicopter are extremely useful in most
inaccessible areas and in time of calamities for receiving
people and distribution of foods, cloths etc.

INTERNATIONAL
AIRWAYS
Domestic Airways fly within the
boundaries of a country.
Eg:- Port Blair to Chennai
International fly abroad and
connects major cities of the world.
Eg:- Kochi to Saudi
