5. - Decide on one story.
- Talk about people, not programs.
- Think action. Show, don’t tell.
- Timing is key.
MORE TIPS
6. ASK
YOURSELF
• Is it unusual? Everyone holds
fundraisers – what makes yours
interesting enough to be included
in Rotary magazine?
• Can other clubs adopt it? Scale it
up?
• How did you measure the result?
• Did it support the areas of focus?
Is it sustainable?
• Who was helped? Is there an
inspiring story to be told?
7. THE FATAL
SIX
• Orchestrated group shots or photos of
people shaking hands, receiving checks,
or otherwise posed and smiling for the
camera
• News of fundraising dinners, check
presentations, and dedication
ceremonies that didn’t involve much
action
• Stories that reveal a strong political
bias
• Accounts of district conferences or
other meetings
• Requests for publicity to help get a
project off the ground
• Photos that do not comply with Rotary
Marks/branding guidelines
