Our thriller film opening script

1. ‘Reality’
CHARACTERS
Boy (Unnamed) – OLDER TEEN, SCRUFFY, LOVES
GAMING, WEARS A DISTINCTIVE WATCH (THIS ACTOR
WILL ALSO PLAY THE COP IN THE VIDEO GAME
SEQUENCE)
Newsreader – MALE, ADULT
Drug dealer – ADULT MALE
Gang members (including drug buyer) – SLIGHTLY
YOUNGER, TEENAGE
SCRIPT
POV shot of COP cycling into farm area. He drops
the bike, puts arm behind his back and pulls out
a gun.
He begins to move, looks around a corner and sees
a guard- he advances on them, before fighting
them, pushing them to the ground and strangling
them with some rope.
He goes round another corner, and sees another
guard. From a distance, he shoots the guard. He
then turns quickly and spots the ‘DRUG DEALER’.
He approaches him, before the drug dealer comes
at him with a knife, and the policeman takes back
the knife – the drug dealer runs.
He pursues the drug dealer, before catching up
with him and stabbing him.
Then appear on the screen the words: LEVEL
COMPLETE, before the camera pans out to reveal
the TV screen with this on (as this has been a
video game). The camera turns to face the boy (we
now notice that he is wearing the same watch as
the COP in the video game), who switches the TV
channel over to the news.
On the news is a story of what has just happened
in the video game. The titles (Director, Cast
etc.) appear along the bottom of the screen.
Throughout the news report, we cut backward and
forward between shots of the TV and shots of the
boy, looking anxious and worried about what’s
happening.
NEWSREADER:
WE ARE HEARING REPORTS OF AN ONGOING CRIME SCENE
INVESTIGATION IN SUFFOLK, AS A SUSPECTED EX
POLICEMAN INFILTRATED A DRUG DEAL, AND MURDERED

2. THE PRIME SUSPECT. THE FORMER OFFICER IS NOW ON
THE RUN, HAVING BEEN WITNESSED TO BE IN A STATE
OF FRENZY AND ACTING VERY STRANGELY. THE
SUROUNDING GROUND IS CURRENTLY VERY UNLEVEL AND
DANGEROUS AND THE SUSPECT IS SAID TO BE OUT OF
TOUCH WITH REALITY (PAUSE.) MORE ON THIS STORY AS
WE GET IT.
News report titles roll, and we cut back to a
shot of the boy looking slightly worried. The boy
gets up from his seat, slowly walks across the
room and walks through the door.
Fade out to black.
