  2. 2. Editorial We feel enthralled in bringing forth the XV edition of our newsletter ‘Vision’. Academic excellence completed with intrinsic strength is quite evident in this issue.   5. 5. English Recitation Competition The emboldened Modernites of Pre School performed with great zeal in the English Recitation Competition on 28 January 2014. The tiny tots dressed up in costumes of animals and recited poems with poise.   6. 6. „We are the saviours of our planet.‟ With a pledge to save the planet earth, the learners of Pre Primary participated in Eco Friendly Attire. A fancy dress competition was organized on 5 February 2014 where they festooned innovative attires made of eco-friendly material like paper, hay and jute. Their apparels propagated various messages to save earth, save water and avoid plastic bags. The activity certainly stimulated in them a sense of responsibility towards environment. The budding poets of class III displayed the best of their lyrical talent through a Hindi Recitation Competition held on 7 February 2014. Parents, Patriotism, and Natural Beauty were the themes for the same. Passionate recital along with vibrant costumes added to their expressions. Fashion Show on the topic „Four Seasons‟ was organized for the students of Pre School on 14 February 2014 wherein they spoke a few lines on the season that they presented. It was a good exposure and opportunity to enhance their rhetoric skills. The learners of Pre School enunciated their minds in a Show and Tell Competition on 14 February 2014. They brought their favourite toy/object like teddy bear, car, pencil etc. and described it in their own words. The activity provided them with a platform to augment their verbal skills.

Clay Caricature activity was organized for the students of Pre Primary on 19 February that certainly helped the students to reveal the hidden artist in them. They made spectacular scenes and objects using varied colors of clay. The ambience was filled with mouth-watering aroma of dishes prepared by the little Master chefs of classes II & III during “Cooking Without Fire Activity” on 26 February 2014. They prepared flavoursome dishes like Nutty Bread Balls with Curd, Nacho Corn Chaat, Chocolate Delight etc which were relished by all.   13. 13. A Visit to Elderly Homes Grandparents- Strong roots of the family tree!! To make students realize the importance and to acknowledge the contribution of Grandparents , the tiny tots of class Pre School visited Elderly Home Society, Rohini and Triveni Devi Vridh Ashram, Kanjhanwala on 11 March 2014. They sang rhymes for them and distributed gift packs containing soap, moisturizer, hair oil etc. The compassionate gesture of the young kids touched their hearts.

  15. 15. Quality Circle– Coming Together for the issues With an aim to make good nutrition a way of life. Students of Class VII on 21 January 2014 had a thought provoking session on “Health and consequences of unhealthy behavior and practices”. To sensitize the students about the degrading environment and raising concern over it, students of Class VI on 20 January 2014 had a session on Working Together to improve our environment.
  16. 16. Republic Day Festivities and patriotic fervor marked the celebrations of 65 Republic Day on 23 January 2014 in the school premises. The Modernites pledged to keep the integrity and the honour of the country alive. The choir group presented a mesmerizing song and filled the air with the elements of pride. The programme concluded with the inspiring and beautiful words of Madam Principal, Ms. Alka Kapur . She advised students to forge ahead for excellence as the onus of the Nation lies on them.
  17. 17. Felicitation Ceremony Annual Prize Distirbution Ceremony was held on 13 February 2014 to felicitate the meritorious achievements of the Modernites. Egyptian Dance Drama along with the hues of talent left the audience spell bound. Ms. Jennifer Tytler , Principal JD Tytler School graced the occasion as the chief guest and motivated students with her inspirational words.

Service before Self To effectuate the notion of compassion, a team consisting of teachers and students headed by Madam Principal went on to the streets near ISBT and donated blankets to the desolate sections of the society on 7 January 2014. Also a team of 19 students reached out to the underprivileged senior citizens in the neighborhood area and provided them with one month’s ration.
  19. 19. Farewell Ceremony Farewell Ceremony was organized on 28 February 2014 to bid adieu to the students of Class XII. The day was marked with the auspicious Sai Sandhya followed by special dance party and sumptuous food.

Excellence Awarded Our Principal Mrs. Alka Kapur was honoured and felicitated by the British High Commission for her commitment and service to the society in promoting better education using English on 12 March 2014. It can be rightly said that the Charismatic name of her sagacity has metamorphized our school into a Paragon of Excellence in education.

Achievements Madhav Dingliwala of Class X achieved 99.78 percentage and 87 All India Rank in National Financial Literary Assessment Test conducted by WCFE and was awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 2000/- along with the merit certificate. Aarushi Jain of Class X was declared the School topper in “Think and Learn Challenge” conducted by NIE in association with BYJOS academy. She also qualified for the city finds and was amongst the top 10 per- centile of 110000 students . She was awarded the—Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

Achievements “In all human affairs there are efforts, and there are results, and the strength of the effort is the measure of the result.”- James Allen The students of our school participated in written test in 11th Vacation Program on Environmental Resources (VPER) conducted by Aravali Foundation for Education (AFE) and Department of Environment, Govt. of NCT Delhi. We are proud to announce that three students namely Japneet Singh, Karan Keswani and Ujjwal Agarwal of class IX have been shortlisted to attend the program as an acknowledgement of their meticulous efforts. Shakti Sethi of Class XI has been selected as the Student of the Year” by Times of India. She has been awarded a trophy, certificate of excellence and a cheque of Rs 1000/-.
  23. 23. Modernites... leaving their mark !! Our talented students created another success story in the event ‘Young Democrats’ in the Economic Fest ECOLLOQUIUM’14 organized by the Economics Society of Hansraj College, Delhi University. The team comprising of Vishal Jain, Gourika Puri and Daksh Wadhwa of class X mesmerized the audience with their act depicting hypothetical political party while presenting their manifesto.
  24. 24. Learning continues…….. “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” PACE, a coaching institute for IIT and medical, organized a motivational seminar on 12 January 2014 at Sirifort Auditorium.The lecture was delivered by Mr. Chetan Bhagat, a renowned and well distinguished writer. Imbued with a vision to achieve success and crack such competitive exams, he counselled the youngsters to follow certain guidelines. Interactive sessions made the workshop an enriching experience. Ms. Manjeet and Ms. Sonia Ratan attended a workshop on’ Child Sexual Abuse: Awareness and Prevention’ at Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini on 14 February 2014. It focussed on sensitizing primary teachers on various issues related to Child Sexual Abuse so that thay are adequately equipped to spread awareness and guide the children. Ms. Naina Nagpal attended the 4th annual conference of National Progressive Schools’ Conference on 22 February 2014.The theme was “Collaborative learning for a diverse Milieu”. The Conference aimed at teacher empowerment with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes.
