TRAXENS-DOG
What is it?
▪ DOG = Door Opening Guard = a remote sensor than can be fixed on a container or reefer door​s
▪ Basic detection based on a magnet coupled with a digital switch Hall effect sensor.
▪ Each time the digital switch state changes (with a minimum anti rebound of 20s to comply with FCC), the DOG generates a
state message using TRAXENS-NET P2P mode.
▪ Before issuing a state message, the DOG must have received a valid NPM message, in order to select the proper PHY mode ->
at least one TRAXENS-Box in the neighbor has launched TRAXENS-NET stack; to send an NPM message, a box just needs to
know its location thanks to MCC (Mobile Country Code), regardless of its status LOOSE, AFFILIATE, MEMBER or HEAD.
▪ If the DOG has not received a valid NPM message, it must remain SILENT -> it SHALL store in a FIFO each state message with
a time stamp; message coding is simply on 5 bytes with :
▪ 4 bytes for the time stamp,​
▪ 1 byte for the switch state.
▪ TRAXENS-NET MTU being 2500 bytes, the DOG can store up to 500 messages.
▪ Quick DOG BOM:
▪ A Wing4TRAX modem and its antenna,​
▪ A lite STM32L0 with an RTC, one UART, one GPIO,​
▪ A digital switch Hall effect sensor (DRV5032 from TI),​
▪ 2 AA Alkaline 1.5V cells in 2S1P 3.0V format or a single 3.6V lithium cell (e.g. 2.6A.h AA LS14500).

How does it work ?
▪ NO painful pairing operation with a TRAXENS-Box -> the DOG is autonomous and acts
as a Class-A TRAXENS-NET beacon.
▪ Each DOG is identified by a barcode (or matrix) giving its Serial Number (i.e. TRAXENS-
NET UID).
▪ Association with the host container SHALL be easy:
▪ Installer takes a screenshot of the barcode (or matrix) with a smartphone or a tablet,​
▪ TRAXENS provides a mobile application to associate the DOG SN with the container identifier.
▪ Thereby, the DOG can work even if the host container is not equipped with a TRAXENS-
Box; a TRAXENS-NET cluster in the neighbor is enough.
▪ To ease installation and test the DOG on the field, a specific tool (DOG version) can be
provided with:
▪ a button to send an NPM sequence on each press (NPM content will depend on the country
where the DOG is installed),​
▪ a bicolor LED to display the switch status on each message received; GREEN for closed, RED for
opened (the Wing4TRAX modem RX sensitivity of the tool will be adjusted to allow detection on a
short distance of ~10 meters max.).

What game it changes?
▪ A TRAXENS-NET Class-A node only listens on the NPM beacon
channel  it is a “transmit only” device and therefore cannot
receive data from other device thru downlink messaging.
▪ A TRAXENS-NET Class-A node is not sensitive to
communications between nodes into a TRAXENS-NET cluster
using the NET beacon, unexpected extra-consumption induced
by overhearing is NULL.
▪ As it only listens for NPM beacon channel 1h30mn per day 
WOR energy budget is therefore divided by 16, falling to 0.3
Joule per day under 2.2V, instead of 4.8 Joules for permanent
listening on NET beacon, a TRAXENS-NET Class-A node is
typically a kind of beacon with extremely low energy
consumption
