Personal Information
I am an enthusiastic, pro-active and a diligent seafarer who is quick to learn, proven to be cool
under pressure, used to working in critical situations, and always keen to expand my knowledge
and skill base.
I am an experienced, professional, highly competent Senior DPO, and a skillful, intuitive ship
handler who has worked on a wide range of vessels with various propulsion systems worldwide.
I have been involved in all levels of DP operation as the lead member of a DP team on board,
including but not limited to:-
Completion of FMEA trials, Annual DP trails (as requested by clients) Special DP trials
(requested by prospective clients),
I co-wrote my current companies original DP operations manual and the various check lists.
I have worked as DP consultant on two new build dive vessels helping them develop a DP dive
procedures for their DP manual and training the DPO’s in DP Dive procedure.
As SDPO I have considerable experience of general operational fault finding and problem
solving ion the DP system
Responsibility and authority sit easily with me and I have sailed as senior officer on many types
of vessel with multi national crews.
I bring good interpersonal and administrative skills to any vessel and I communicate easily with
all aboard and ashore.
I am comfortable with the diplomacy that is required from a senior officer to enable the effective
interdepartmental co-operation needed on modern offshore vessels.
I have personally trained and mentored 25+ DP'Os many of whom have gone onto SDPO.
I am experienced in report writing (to provide feedback or to raise questions) for the
manufacturer and for any operational issuers / incidents for the company.

2. Personal Information and experience continued…..
As an SDPO I have been involved in the planning and execution stages of all operations as the
lead member of the DP team on board, including but not limited to:-
All types and depths of Diving work (Saturation and Air Dive),
Pipe-Lay including S and J lay, and Piggy Back.
Extensive work on offshore construction, involving Diving, ROV Heavy Lift etc.
That work has included but is not limited to:
DSV work has been with either Single Bell, deck mounted Sat system, or Underdeck Single Bell
Sat system with moon pool, or Underdeck, double bell Sat system with twin moon pools.
Diving work has included maintenance, repair inspections and new additions installations on
jackets such as new risers, cleaning and inspections to jacket legs and sub sea assets.
Mid water and sea bed installation of new assets,
Repair and inspection and maintenance of existing assets sub-sea and mid water.
Tie-ing in of pipelines via spool pieces
All works associated with the installation of new hardware and replacement of old hardware
SBM FSO FPSO installations including
the sub sea tie into pipelines,
the installation of floating hoses,
the changing or re-tensioning of chains
the siting and piling of both hammer piles and suction piles.
Testing of PLEMs Removal of Lay Down heads Installation of Bow Strings and Pennant pipeline
start ups,
Removal of debris,
Visual survey of pipelines and other sub sea assets.
Construction in every aspect of Jacket FPSO SBM FPSO installation including piling (suction
and hammer) from bare sea to completed project or replacement of old stock or additions and
renewals to old stock.
Heavy lifts (1000+ ton) associated with above
Pipelay Many thousands of DP desk hours laying pipeline from 6 inch to 42 inch including
piggy back.
Start ups using DMA, Piggy Back Anchor, Bow String and Pennant.
Emergency lay downs and recoveries
Over the side recovery for repair work
ROV all associated work with all the above work at depths as well as pure survey work.
