Argumentative Essay On The Earth Day
In the decades following the first Earth Day, the perspectives and purposes surrounding the day have changed. The fervor and desire for environmental
protection legislation have certainly lessened. Still, the impact and importance of the initial protest are still felt and the motivations behind the first
Earth Day still burn strong in many Americans. Earth Day celebrations continue in the US to this day, and the anniversary celebrations garner
significant publicity. Each big celebration has a main purpose, and participation is usually related to the context of the time. 2017 Earth's day included
a March for Science as a response to President Donald Trump's rollback of certain key environmental legislation. Recent Earth Days have also
celebrated the Paris Agreements and other landmark plans to reduce global warming. Celebrations in the past, however, have been criticized. During
the 2000 celebration, Vice President Al Gore's speech was detracted from by Leonardo DiCaprio being named as honorary national chairman. An
otherwise important topic was taken less seriously by including the actor. The 1990 celebration suffered from splintered interest groups and an
unclear message. Additionally, polling data into the new millennium shows that while over 80 percent of people agree with the broadest goals of
the environmental movement, only 16 percent say they are active participants and membership in environmental organizations is declining. The
reasons for some of the struggles surrounding Earth Day can possibly be explained in Anthony Downs article "Up and Down with Ecology."
Downs explains that public interest rarely stays focused on one issue for very long and that enthusiasm for a cause is usually tempered once
people realize the difficulty of policy change. The enthusiasm is there every year on April 22, but when people come back down to and realize the
difficult path ahead, some a prone to find other causes. Denis Hayes also emphasizes the importance of directed action for maintaining a cause. He
says it is easier to be an activist if you know exactly what you are doing and exactly what you are fighting for; it is much harder he said, to address
general causes and offer wide–ranging solutions. Earth Day

The Age Of The Earth
The Age of The Earth
For decades the age of the Earth has been a major conflict between science and religion, but why is it such a big conflict? If, in the year AD 1600, an
individual had asked an educated European how old the planet Earth was and to recount its history, the response would have been that it was about
6000 years old and that its ancient history was given by the biblical account in Genesis (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). If one asked the
same question of an educated European in AD 1900, one would have received a totally different answer (Changing Views of the History of the Earth).
The answer would have been the Earth was ancient, there had not been a Noachian flood, and that the species of life had not been fixed over the
history of Earth (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). In short, Genesis was an allegory and not literal history (Changing Views of the History
of the Earth). This brings up the different views between "young earth creationists" and "old earth creationists" and those that support an infinite
universe. The problem today is each side contains major valid points of evidence of both biblical and scientific, on the age of the planet Earth.
The "young earth creationist" perceptive is the result of a historical–grammatical reading of the description of the early Earth in the Bible or the Islamic
Qur'an, which both contain similar accounts of a six–day creation, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and Noah's flood (Biblical

Environmental Satire Essay
Environment Satire It has come to my attention that our nation is in the middle of earthweek. At a time when we all stop, as Americans, and take a
look at all of the great accomplishments we have made that we could have possibly overlooked while running around with our busy schedules. We
recognize our efforts to create powerful industries and production plants that produce endless chemical compounds and new materials. The discovery
and use of fossil fuels, of which has fed our automobiles and at times added a protective coating to our shores and beaches. The men and women who
clear the land and provide the materials for our homes. And what about electricity? The greatest discovery of alltime. We must not forget about the men

I think I speak for many people when I say that I can’t wait for the day when it finally warms up around here. While being an Oregon resident
has it’s advantages, it just seems to lack in the sunshine department, and what a better way to brighten up any day than with 200 degree
weather. No more wasting snow days at school, no more long sleeved shirts, and finally an end to all that SPF mumbo jumbo. You know that without
an O–zone layer there’s going to be nothing strong enough on the market to protect our delicate skin. They’ll probably have some
kind of pill I can take instead. Even if some of the polar ice caps do melt, that just means more beaches for us on our new glorious days of sunshine.
So what if a few million people drown? I suppose earthweek is just another form of the government keeping us down. We have become far too
brainwashed when we start to feel guilty for living the life of careless slobs. Though, one week out of the year isn’t too bad to have to plant a
tree or recycle your plastics. It is the ones who spend their time and money developing new, safer techniques to ensure the health of our planet that need
our help the most. They just don’t seem to understand the detrimental importance of self consciousness. We as citizens, as Americans, as
human beings must take it upon ourselves to clear up any confusion and set these poor wasteful droids into the right direction.

Why Is The First Earth Day Successful
2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day; the focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was held on
April 22, 1970, it was celebrated all throughout the United States. Currently, it's a global event that people from all over the world celebrate. Before
the movement started in the 1970's, a great oil spill happened in Santa Barbara, California 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson
to have a day, to specifically focus on helping the environment and teach the public about natural disasters (History of earth day). As a result a year later,
millions of people went to the streets protesting for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development on the environment.
The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans are overwhelmed with gaining
wealth that they have ignored the natural environmental needs for hundreds of years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in
protecting the environment with all the participation of the civilians. There are three main reasons why Earth Day is successful: The first, is the strong
focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have for
the movement, and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an Earth Day activity.
First, Gaylord Nelson

Going Green
Eight Ways To Go Green
Some people only get involved in the environment on Earth Day. You can make Earth Day every day by just making a few changes in your daily
routine. Not only will you be helping the environment, but you will probably save money in the long run and live a much healthier life. Here are eight
ways that you can go green. 1.) Re–Route Your Commute
Walking or biking is ideal to get to your job or go to school. Not only is this healthy for theenvironment, but for you too. If you have to drive, then try
to get a group of friends together to cut down on everyone driving separately. Even if you don't want to admit to trying to help the Earth, you have to
agree that traveling in a group is WAY more fun than alone. Not

Could God Have Created Everything In Six Days
one must be consistent. When we know the statement, then according to the Bible the dust from which man was made was what he returned to when
he died. What did that mean? Apparently, anyone can observe that then we died we returned to dust, just as the Bible said. Dust of the ground, to
which we returned, was what we were created from in the first place.
What's more, biblical creation is supernatural, or a miracle. Creation was the direct acts about what the Creator God did which opposed to some
naturalistic process. It was of vital importance and played some roles.
The first verse of the Bible identified who God was. He was the Creator, not an idea, not a moral standard. All of Scripture agreed and supported that
point. The Bible began that...show more content...
Therefore, my following question is: Could God really have created everything in six days? In other words, why is six days? Ok, let me explain
how long the day God referred were first. If we followed context and normal definitions, without being influenced by outside ideas, the word for
"day" found in Genesis 1, which was qualified by a number, the phrase "evening and morning" and for Day 1 the words "light and darkness", which
obviously meant an ordinary day include 24 hours. In Exodus 31:15–17, "Six days may work be done, but on the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to
the Lord. Whoever does any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Therefore the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe
the Sabbath throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant. It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel forever. For in six days the
Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed." Also, because God is infinite in power and wisdom,
there is no doubt He could have created the universe and its contents in no time at all, or six seconds, or six minutes, or six hours–– because in Luke
1:37, it says "For with God nothing shall be impossible." In this case the answer about why God spent six days to create world was represented in
Exodus 20:11, which is the basis of the Fourth Commandment, "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in
them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed

Environmental Movement Report
Before the 1960s, environmentalism mainly focused on conservation of resources and the wilderness and was apparent through Theodore Roosevelt's
creation of five National Parks, one hundred fifty National Forests and about two hundred thirty acres of land set aside for conservation. In the 1960s,
the environmental movement was really able to garner support as it was during many other movements such as Civil Rights, Peace, and Women's.
Many consider the spark for environmentalism to be Rachel Carson's Silent Spring (1962), which exposed the harmful effects of pollutants such as
DDT on the environment and the public. While minute amounts of DDT cause little to no harm to the organisms that are affected, as DDT moves up
the food chain, it becomes more and more concentrated. A generally accepted value is that for each level up in the food chain, the concentration of
pollutants increases by a thousand times. The effects of Silent Spring cannot be overestimated. As people began to become more informed about
pollution, more people demanded that the federal government take action. The environmental movement then grew to encompass global warming, clean
air, energy, the ozone layer, and also pollution. These concerns were vocalized in the very first Earth Day that occurred on April 22, 1970 and was
established by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson. A group of twenty million Americans, all coming from vastly different backgrounds, celebrated

All About Our Planet Earth Essay
The Earth is a relatively small celestial object. It is the third planet orbiting an average star, our Sun, located in the Orion arm, sometimes called the
Orion Spur; it is a minor arm located in between the Sagittarius Arm and the Perseus arm of the Milky Way, a barred spiral galaxy. Our solar system
orbits the central bulge of our galaxy at a radius of 1.7 billion AU and our period of galactic revolution is 230 million years at a tangential velocity of
828,000 km/hr relative to the center. Our solar system has one main sequence star, 4 inner rocky planets, the asteroid belt, 4 outer large gaseous planets,
the Kuiper Belt of small icy objects, and the outermost Oort Cloud of icy objects made of water, ammonia, and methane. It extends from...show more

The supernova process generates elements more massive than iron, like the heavier elements we find within our solar system, and ejects them. With a
cloud of about 90% H, 9% He, and small amounts of everything else, such as iron, carbon, and oxygen, and the movement of pressure waves through
the cloud due to the At the center of this contracting and rotating cloud, compressed H and He gases formed a hot protostar. When temperature and
pressure within the core of this protostar increased to a critical point, a type of nuclear fusion, also called proton–proton fusion, began, and thus our sun
was born. At the same time, the remaining gas cloud that had enough inertia to avoid being swept into the Sun collapsed into the form of a rotating
sphere. According to the Condensation theory, the first solid particles formed and then grew as they accreted the surrounding material. Soon, these
larger bodies, called planetesimals, had enough gravity to pull in more matter. The planetesimals then collided to form the planets. The inner planets
formed at temperatures high enough that only heavier elements could form solids, so these planets are composed of rock and metal. The lighter
gaseous elements were swept outward by solarwinds. The Earth then began as an accreting molten sphere. The Earth's thermal energy came from an
initial stage of nuclear fission at its center. Radioactive decay of

My Last Day On Earth
Sometimes people ask what you would do if it was your last day on earth. Some might say something daring like, swimming with sharks or
skydiving. Others just wished for something simple, maybe just to hang out with their friends one last time. I pondered what my answer could be,
tomorrow wasn't my last day on Earth, there was no all important matter. I was just leaving, temporarily, or that's how I thought about it. A knock
interrupted my train of thoughts, it crashed with halt as my mother entered my room. "Are you finished packing yet," she asked, glimpsing at the
walls of my room, once decorated with awards and photos of friends and family, now completely vacant. "Almost, just have a couple other things
left," I lied, glancing at the half filled suitcase behind my ancient dresser. "I'm sorry about this, about everything," she whispered, her voice filled
with guilt and remorse. "It's not your fault, none of this is," I replied. She smiled weakly before exiting the room. I, once again, was unaccompanied
by anything besides my thoughts, this was it, tomorrow would be my last day here, in the U.S, the place I called home; how was I supposed to
abandon everything I've ever known? Pushing that miserable thought aside, I focused on an important one; what should I do tomorrow? I'd considered
visiting my friends, but quickly eliminated that idea from my brain, seeing as it might be more depressing than enjoyable. For the first time, I desired
adventure, something daring and bold.

All Summer In A Day Essay
All Summer In A Day The short story "All Summer In A Day" by Ray Bradbury describes how in planet Venus there is rain non
–stop and the sun only
comes out once in a day every seven years. Margot used to live on planet Earth, so she has felt and seen the sun before. The students "hated her pale
snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future." (Bradbury, 1954). To begin, the author uses craft moves to show the theme to
show how Margot's classmates were jealous. Using descriptive words, Bradbury gives a clear visual of the events of the children bullying Margot. The
author uses similes to describe sun. "It's like a fire, in the stove." The jealousy of the children on Venus caused them to treat Margot poorly; this is

Some examples are: "'Speak when you're spoken to.' He gave her a shove." "'Get away!' The boy gave her another push." "All a joke!' said the boy,
and seized her roughly." Harassment is when someone wrongly annoying, offensive, and troubling behavior. Margot's classmates shoved, pushed,
and roughly seized her. This shows that jealousy can lead to people hurting the person they are jealous of. When harassing Margot, they also said
mean things to her and rejected her beliefs. They have done this countless times. "'No it's not!' the children cried." "'You're lying, you don't
remember!' cried the children." "Nothing! It was all a joke, wasn't it?'" "'Nothing's happening today. Is it?" "'Nothing, nothing!'" "'All a joke'" When
Margot describes the sun, everyone thinks she is lying. They do not want to admit that she knows how to sun looks and feels like. Since Margot's
classmates are jealous of her experiences, they do not want to believe her descriptions of the sun. Soon, jealousy lead to locking Margot in a closet.
"'Hey, everyone, let's put her in a closet before the teacher comes!'" When being jealous, one could act like someone they are not.
Together, all these scenes showed that jealousy of another can lead to harassment, saying mean things, and bullying. The author

On April 22, Earth Day is celebrated all throughout the world each year, since the first Earth Day in the 1970's. Millions of people when to the street
to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development. Earth Day started because of the devastating oil spill that
Santa Barbara had in California, 1969. The spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping environmental and teach the
public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). The Senator Nelson elected Denis Hayes to be the national coordinator of Earth Day. In 1970
Hayes helped developed the First Earth Day and the Earth Day Network with 85 staff members to promote environmental events all throughout the
country. The first Earth Day united the rich and the poor to protest for the environment rights, allowing for theUnited States Environmental Protection

The Planet Of The Earth Essay
The earth might seem to be large enough with a radius of about 6400 km and large circumstance of about 40,000 km, but in fact, earth is the only
planet of the solar system and the only member of the myriads of systems in the universe, which presents a condition of air, water and land. Thus, it is
unique among the planets having abundant water, an atmosphere and surface temperature configuration that have supported life. So, "why is there life
on Earth?" Unlike other planets, the Earth has a strong magnetic field of its own. It is the densest planet. As an illustration, if it weren't for the Earth's
magnetic field we would be subject to bursts of radiation on the ground that would be, at the very least, unhealthy. Additionally, the more serious, long
term impact would be the erosion of the atmosphere. Without a doubt, the most important planet to us is the Earth that distinguishes itself from other
heavenly bodies of the solar system.
"We think that life develops spontaneously on Earth, so it must be possible for life to develop on suitable planets elsewhere in the universe." (Stephen
Hawking)
2. Summary:
In "The Nine Planets of the Solar System," posted on the NASA website, Earth is revealed to be a very nurturing planet as well as Earth is the only
one in which life exists. First, according to NASA, the Earth possesses a moderate pattern of temperature. Second, the article also states, the Earth

Going Green Essay
Going Green Lately the phrase "going green" has become a part of everyday discussion and debate. People are being told to turn off the lights, buy
energy–saving appliances, and drive less. What people are not being told is why, specifically. Global warming is the increase of the Earth's average
temperature. Greenhouse gases are the cause of this problem; carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and methane (1). Normally the earth's atmosphere lets
these gases in but does not release all of it. The excess gases keep the plant warm enough to sustain life. However over time, the atmosphere has
sustained damage from chemicals, like the ones released in fossil fuels, and now the planet is heating up too much too fast. Even just a few degrees

Most hybrids run use internal combustion engines and electrical motors (2). Internal combustion engines require fuel to create a combustion reaction
which powers the engine. An electric motor uses electrical energy to produce mechanical energy which can then run the motor. An on–board
rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) stores enough energy, which is also rechargeable, to run the electric motor (2). To lower fuel
consumption, the RESS regenerates power, or energy, through regenerative breaking or sometimes through the combustion engine. Regenerative
breaking uses some of the energy produced by the car when accelerating and stores it. This is why hybrid cars cannot compete in the market for
speed. In more modern models, a mechanism allows for energy to be taken from the combustion engine to charge the cars battery or electrical motor
(2). In the sense of "going green", hybrids reduce idle emissions by shutting off the ICE during idle times, like stop lights and traffic, and then
restarting it when the car needs to move. A smaller and more efficient engine also cuts back on power compared to large engines where all the parts
may not be used, but need to be powered, thus reducing emissions (2). Other benefits from HEVs are noise–level reduction and air pollution. The goal
of hybrid manufactures is to run vehicles without the use of fuel. However, this is a new market and the

My Last Day On Earth Essay
"You never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday." My mother told my brother and I the night before tragedy
struck. I went to bed on that quiet night in May; woken up by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin,
Travis, dying in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my nightmare has become a reality. Being only 14 years
old, I couldn't quite grasp the idea that my best friend, my other brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of my
life, I applied my mothers saying, "you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday" to everything I did/do. Travis
would have never known his last day on Earth would be May 21st, 2012, only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second; so why
don't we live each day like its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly, it takes tragedy to make people realize that tomorrow is
not granted.
I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I was surprised when my mom said, "Tell your
cousin bye, Brookie.". Since the day he moved out, he continued to be my very best friend. Calling him every night, upset about family issues, school
work, the fight I had with my friend that day, he was there for me every single night getting me through it all; then as soon as my life got much more

With Earth day having just passed, I figured now was a good time to help spread the message that although a special day was marked on your
calendar, we need to consider every day Earth Day. We do not own Earth. Earth is our home and we are merely passing through and it is not our right
to trash it nor exhaust its resources as we please. And while the planet as a whole might seem big, your individual, everyday decisions can leave a

Early Earth Environments
Life arose on Earth around four billion years ago, but under conditions that are strikingly different from those on Earth today. The terrestrial
atmosphere, now rich in molecular oxygen, was not before oxygenic photosynthesis. The chemistries possible at the time that life began cannot be
assumed to occur spontaneously on Earth today, nor can chemistry that happens spontaneously today be expected to have been favored four billion
years ago. Thus, it is important to understand the possible abiotic chemistries in the context of early Earth environments, as these environments may be
occurring today on places like Jupiter's moon Europa or Saturn's moon

Argumentative Essay On The Earth Day

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On The Earth Day In the decades following the first Earth Day, the perspectives and purposes surrounding the day have changed. The fervor and desire for environmental protection legislation have certainly lessened. Still, the impact and importance of the initial protest are still felt and the motivations behind the first Earth Day still burn strong in many Americans. Earth Day celebrations continue in the US to this day, and the anniversary celebrations garner significant publicity. Each big celebration has a main purpose, and participation is usually related to the context of the time. 2017 Earth's day included a March for Science as a response to President Donald Trump's rollback of certain key environmental legislation. Recent Earth Days have also celebrated the Paris Agreements and other landmark plans to reduce global warming. Celebrations in the past, however, have been criticized. During the 2000 celebration, Vice President Al Gore's speech was detracted from by Leonardo DiCaprio being named as honorary national chairman. An otherwise important topic was taken less seriously by including the actor. The 1990 celebration suffered from splintered interest groups and an unclear message. Additionally, polling data into the new millennium shows that while over 80 percent of people agree with the broadest goals of the environmental movement, only 16 percent say they are active participants and membership in environmental organizations is declining. The reasons for some of the struggles surrounding Earth Day can possibly be explained in Anthony Downs article "Up and Down with Ecology." Downs explains that public interest rarely stays focused on one issue for very long and that enthusiasm for a cause is usually tempered once people realize the difficulty of policy change. The enthusiasm is there every year on April 22, but when people come back down to and realize the difficult path ahead, some a prone to find other causes. Denis Hayes also emphasizes the importance of directed action for maintaining a cause. He says it is easier to be an activist if you know exactly what you are doing and exactly what you are fighting for; it is much harder he said, to address general causes and offer wide–ranging solutions. • 2. The Age Of The Earth The Age of The Earth For decades the age of the Earth has been a major conflict between science and religion, but why is it such a big conflict? If, in the year AD 1600, an individual had asked an educated European how old the planet Earth was and to recount its history, the response would have been that it was about 6000 years old and that its ancient history was given by the biblical account in Genesis (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). If one asked the same question of an educated European in AD 1900, one would have received a totally different answer (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). The answer would have been the Earth was ancient, there had not been a Noachian flood, and that the species of life had not been fixed over the history of Earth (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). In short, Genesis was an allegory and not literal history (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). This brings up the different views between "young earth creationists" and "old earth creationists" and those that support an infinite universe. The problem today is each side contains major valid points of evidence of both biblical and scientific, on the age of the planet Earth. The "young earth creationist" perceptive is the result of a historical–grammatical reading of the description of the early Earth in the Bible or the Islamic Qur'an, which both contain similar accounts of a six–day creation, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and Noah's flood (Biblical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Environmental Satire Essay Environment Satire It has come to my attention that our nation is in the middle of earthweek. At a time when we all stop, as Americans, and take a look at all of the great accomplishments we have made that we could have possibly overlooked while running around with our busy schedules. We recognize our efforts to create powerful industries and production plants that produce endless chemical compounds and new materials. The discovery and use of fossil fuels, of which has fed our automobiles and at times added a protective coating to our shores and beaches. The men and women who clear the land and provide the materials for our homes. And what about electricity? The greatest discovery of alltime. We must not forget about the men ...show more content... I think I speak for many people when I say that I can’t wait for the day when it finally warms up around here. While being an Oregon resident has it’s advantages, it just seems to lack in the sunshine department, and what a better way to brighten up any day than with 200 degree weather. No more wasting snow days at school, no more long sleeved shirts, and finally an end to all that SPF mumbo jumbo. You know that without an O–zone layer there’s going to be nothing strong enough on the market to protect our delicate skin. They’ll probably have some kind of pill I can take instead. Even if some of the polar ice caps do melt, that just means more beaches for us on our new glorious days of sunshine. So what if a few million people drown? I suppose earthweek is just another form of the government keeping us down. We have become far too brainwashed when we start to feel guilty for living the life of careless slobs. Though, one week out of the year isn’t too bad to have to plant a tree or recycle your plastics. It is the ones who spend their time and money developing new, safer techniques to ensure the health of our planet that need our help the most. They just don’t seem to understand the detrimental importance of self consciousness. We as citizens, as Americans, as human beings must take it upon ourselves to clear up any confusion and set these poor wasteful droids into the right direction. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Why Is The First Earth Day Successful 2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day; the focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, it was celebrated all throughout the United States. Currently, it's a global event that people from all over the world celebrate. Before the movement started in the 1970's, a great oil spill happened in Santa Barbara, California 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson to have a day, to specifically focus on helping the environment and teach the public about natural disasters (History of earth day). As a result a year later, millions of people went to the streets protesting for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development on the environment. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans are overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored the natural environmental needs for hundreds of years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in protecting the environment with all the participation of the civilians. There are three main reasons why Earth Day is successful: The first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have for the movement, and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an Earth Day activity. First, Gaylord Nelson Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Going Green Eight Ways To Go Green Some people only get involved in the environment on Earth Day. You can make Earth Day every day by just making a few changes in your daily routine. Not only will you be helping the environment, but you will probably save money in the long run and live a much healthier life. Here are eight ways that you can go green. 1.) Re–Route Your Commute Walking or biking is ideal to get to your job or go to school. Not only is this healthy for theenvironment, but for you too. If you have to drive, then try to get a group of friends together to cut down on everyone driving separately. • 6. Could God Have Created Everything In Six Days one must be consistent. When we know the statement, then according to the Bible the dust from which man was made was what he returned to when he died. What did that mean? Apparently, anyone can observe that then we died we returned to dust, just as the Bible said. Dust of the ground, to which we returned, was what we were created from in the first place. What's more, biblical creation is supernatural, or a miracle. Creation was the direct acts about what the Creator God did which opposed to some naturalistic process. It was of vital importance and played some roles. The first verse of the Bible identified who God was. He was the Creator, not an idea, not a moral standard. All of Scripture agreed and supported that point. The Bible began that...show more content... Therefore, my following question is: Could God really have created everything in six days? In other words, why is six days? Ok, let me explain how long the day God referred were first. If we followed context and normal definitions, without being influenced by outside ideas, the word for "day" found in Genesis 1, which was qualified by a number, the phrase "evening and morning" and for Day 1 the words "light and darkness", which obviously meant an ordinary day include 24 hours. In Exodus 31:15–17, "Six days may work be done, but on the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Therefore the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for an everlasting covenant. It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel forever. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed." Also, because God is infinite in power and wisdom, there is no doubt He could have created the universe and its contents in no time at all, or six seconds, or six minutes, or six hours–– because in Luke 1:37, it says "For with God nothing shall be impossible." In this case the answer about why God spent six days to create world was represented in Exodus 20:11, which is the basis of the Fourth Commandment, "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Environmental Movement Report Before the 1960s, environmentalism mainly focused on conservation of resources and the wilderness and was apparent through Theodore Roosevelt's creation of five National Parks, one hundred fifty National Forests and about two hundred thirty acres of land set aside for conservation. In the 1960s, the environmental movement was really able to garner support as it was during many other movements such as Civil Rights, Peace, and Women's. Many consider the spark for environmentalism to be Rachel Carson's Silent Spring (1962), which exposed the harmful effects of pollutants such as DDT on the environment and the public. While minute amounts of DDT cause little to no harm to the organisms that are affected, as DDT moves up the food chain, it becomes more and more concentrated. A generally accepted value is that for each level up in the food chain, the concentration of pollutants increases by a thousand times. The effects of Silent Spring cannot be overestimated. As people began to become more informed about pollution, more people demanded that the federal government take action. The environmental movement then grew to encompass global warming, clean air, energy, the ozone layer, and also pollution. These concerns were vocalized in the very first Earth Day that occurred on April 22, 1970 and was established by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson. A group of twenty million Americans, all coming from vastly different backgrounds, celebrated the holiday Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. All About Our Planet Earth Essay The Earth is a relatively small celestial object. It is the third planet orbiting an average star, our Sun, located in the Orion arm, sometimes called the Orion Spur; it is a minor arm located in between the Sagittarius Arm and the Perseus arm of the Milky Way, a barred spiral galaxy. Our solar system orbits the central bulge of our galaxy at a radius of 1.7 billion AU and our period of galactic revolution is 230 million years at a tangential velocity of 828,000 km/hr relative to the center. Our solar system has one main sequence star, 4 inner rocky planets, the asteroid belt, 4 outer large gaseous planets, the Kuiper Belt of small icy objects, and the outermost Oort Cloud of icy objects made of water, ammonia, and methane. It extends from...show more content... The supernova process generates elements more massive than iron, like the heavier elements we find within our solar system, and ejects them. With a cloud of about 90% H, 9% He, and small amounts of everything else, such as iron, carbon, and oxygen, and the movement of pressure waves through the cloud due to the At the center of this contracting and rotating cloud, compressed H and He gases formed a hot protostar. When temperature and pressure within the core of this protostar increased to a critical point, a type of nuclear fusion, also called proton–proton fusion, began, and thus our sun was born. At the same time, the remaining gas cloud that had enough inertia to avoid being swept into the Sun collapsed into the form of a rotating sphere. According to the Condensation theory, the first solid particles formed and then grew as they accreted the surrounding material. Soon, these larger bodies, called planetesimals, had enough gravity to pull in more matter. The planetesimals then collided to form the planets. The inner planets formed at temperatures high enough that only heavier elements could form solids, so these planets are composed of rock and metal. The lighter gaseous elements were swept outward by solarwinds. The Earth then began as an accreting molten sphere. The Earth's thermal energy came from an initial stage of nuclear fission at its center. Radioactive decay of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Last Day On Earth Sometimes people ask what you would do if it was your last day on earth. Some might say something daring like, swimming with sharks or skydiving. Others just wished for something simple, maybe just to hang out with their friends one last time. I pondered what my answer could be, tomorrow wasn't my last day on Earth, there was no all important matter. I was just leaving, temporarily, or that's how I thought about it. A knock interrupted my train of thoughts, it crashed with halt as my mother entered my room. "Are you finished packing yet," she asked, glimpsing at the walls of my room, once decorated with awards and photos of friends and family, now completely vacant. "Almost, just have a couple other things left," I lied, glancing at the half filled suitcase behind my ancient dresser. "I'm sorry about this, about everything," she whispered, her voice filled with guilt and remorse. "It's not your fault, none of this is," I replied. She smiled weakly before exiting the room. I, once again, was unaccompanied by anything besides my thoughts, this was it, tomorrow would be my last day here, in the U.S, the place I called home; how was I supposed to abandon everything I've ever known? Pushing that miserable thought aside, I focused on an important one; what should I do tomorrow? I'd considered visiting my friends, but quickly eliminated that idea from my brain, seeing as it might be more depressing than enjoyable. For the first time, I desired adventure, something daring and bold. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. All Summer In A Day Essay All Summer In A Day The short story "All Summer In A Day" by Ray Bradbury describes how in planet Venus there is rain non –stop and the sun only comes out once in a day every seven years. Margot used to live on planet Earth, so she has felt and seen the sun before. The students "hated her pale snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future." (Bradbury, 1954). To begin, the author uses craft moves to show the theme to show how Margot's classmates were jealous. Using descriptive words, Bradbury gives a clear visual of the events of the children bullying Margot. The author uses similes to describe sun. "It's like a fire, in the stove." The jealousy of the children on Venus caused them to treat Margot poorly; this is shown...show more content... Some examples are: "'Speak when you're spoken to.' He gave her a shove." "'Get away!' The boy gave her another push." "All a joke!' said the boy, and seized her roughly." Harassment is when someone wrongly annoying, offensive, and troubling behavior. Margot's classmates shoved, pushed, and roughly seized her. This shows that jealousy can lead to people hurting the person they are jealous of. When harassing Margot, they also said mean things to her and rejected her beliefs. They have done this countless times. "'No it's not!' the children cried." "'You're lying, you don't remember!' cried the children." "Nothing! It was all a joke, wasn't it?'" "'Nothing's happening today. Is it?" "'Nothing, nothing!'" "'All a joke'" When Margot describes the sun, everyone thinks she is lying. They do not want to admit that she knows how to sun looks and feels like. Since Margot's classmates are jealous of her experiences, they do not want to believe her descriptions of the sun. The author Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay About Earth Day On April 22, Earth Day is celebrated all throughout the world each year, since the first Earth Day in the 1970's. Millions of people when to the street to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development. Earth Day started because of the devastating oil spill that Santa Barbara had in California, 1969. The spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping environmental and teach the public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). The Senator Nelson elected Denis Hayes to be the national coordinator of Earth Day. In 1970 Hayes helped developed the First Earth Day and the Earth Day Network with 85 staff members to promote environmental events all throughout the country. The first Earth Day united the rich and the poor to protest for the environment rights, allowing for theUnited States Environmental Protection Agency to pass the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts by the end of the 1970's (History of earth day, 2017). Ever since then each year the Earth Day theme or focus point is a different environmental problem like climate changes, air pollution, and other pollutants. More Earth day is a well publicized global event getting bigger and bigger each year with its new environmental events. • 12. The Planet Of The Earth Essay The earth might seem to be large enough with a radius of about 6400 km and large circumstance of about 40,000 km, but in fact, earth is the only planet of the solar system and the only member of the myriads of systems in the universe, which presents a condition of air, water and land. Thus, it is unique among the planets having abundant water, an atmosphere and surface temperature configuration that have supported life. So, "why is there life on Earth?" Unlike other planets, the Earth has a strong magnetic field of its own. It is the densest planet. As an illustration, if it weren't for the Earth's magnetic field we would be subject to bursts of radiation on the ground that would be, at the very least, unhealthy. Additionally, the more serious, long term impact would be the erosion of the atmosphere. Without a doubt, the most important planet to us is the Earth that distinguishes itself from other heavenly bodies of the solar system. "We think that life develops spontaneously on Earth, so it must be possible for life to develop on suitable planets elsewhere in the universe." (Stephen Hawking) 2. Summary: In "The Nine Planets of the Solar System," posted on the NASA website, Earth is revealed to be a very nurturing planet as well as Earth is the only one in which life exists. First, according to NASA, the Earth possesses a moderate pattern of temperature. Second, the article also states, the Earth rotates around its axis, which is tilted 23.5 degree, to result in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Going Green Essay Going Green Lately the phrase "going green" has become a part of everyday discussion and debate. People are being told to turn off the lights, buy energy–saving appliances, and drive less. What people are not being told is why, specifically. Global warming is the increase of the Earth's average temperature. Greenhouse gases are the cause of this problem; carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and methane (1). Normally the earth's atmosphere lets these gases in but does not release all of it. The excess gases keep the plant warm enough to sustain life. However over time, the atmosphere has sustained damage from chemicals, like the ones released in fossil fuels, and now the planet is heating up too much too fast. Even just a few degrees ...show more content... Most hybrids run use internal combustion engines and electrical motors (2). Internal combustion engines require fuel to create a combustion reaction which powers the engine. An electric motor uses electrical energy to produce mechanical energy which can then run the motor. An on–board rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) stores enough energy, which is also rechargeable, to run the electric motor (2). To lower fuel consumption, the RESS regenerates power, or energy, through regenerative breaking or sometimes through the combustion engine. Regenerative breaking uses some of the energy produced by the car when accelerating and stores it. This is why hybrid cars cannot compete in the market for speed. In more modern models, a mechanism allows for energy to be taken from the combustion engine to charge the cars battery or electrical motor (2). In the sense of "going green", hybrids reduce idle emissions by shutting off the ICE during idle times, like stop lights and traffic, and then restarting it when the car needs to move. A smaller and more efficient engine also cuts back on power compared to large engines where all the parts may not be used, but need to be powered, thus reducing emissions (2). Other benefits from HEVs are noise–level reduction and air pollution. The goal of hybrid manufactures is to run vehicles without the use of fuel. However, this is a new market and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Last Day On Earth Essay "You never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday." My mother told my brother and I the night before tragedy struck. I went to bed on that quiet night in May; woken up by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin, Travis, dying in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my nightmare has become a reality. Being only 14 years old, I couldn't quite grasp the idea that my best friend, my other brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of my life, I applied my mothers saying, "you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday" to everything I did/do. Travis would have never known his last day on Earth would be May 21st, 2012, only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second; so why don't we live each day like its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly, it takes tragedy to make people realize that tomorrow is not granted. I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I was surprised when my mom said, "Tell your cousin bye, Brookie.". Since the day he moved out, he continued to be my very best friend. Calling him every night, upset about family issues, school work, the fight I had with my friend that day, he was there for me every single night getting me through it all; then as soon as my life got much more hard, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

"The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is TWICE the size of continental U.S. and is believed to hold almost 100 million tons of garbage" "Our planet is now in the sixth mass extinction of plants and animals" "If every country were to consume as much as the United States alone it would be as if there were a global population of 72 billion people." Have I got your attention? Good...scary stuff right? With Earth day having just passed, I figured now was a good time to help spread the message that although a special day was marked on your calendar, we need to consider every day Earth Day. We do not own Earth. Earth is our home and we are merely passing through and it is not our right to trash it nor exhaust its resources as we please. And while the planet as a whole might seem big, your individual, everyday decisions can leave a lasting impact. 1. Turn off the lights when you're not in the room 2. Unplug things when you're not using them 3. Carpool 4. But if you're going somewhere in walking or biking distance...ditch the car 5. Take pride in leftovers!!

  • 17. Creative Writing: The Last Days of Earth Essay Destruction It was a dark, cold, cloudy day. The clouds covered the sky like a big black sheet, nothing to be seen except darkness that seemed to go on forever. This was the third day in a row that there had been complete darkness, there was no getting rid of it. This was because of 'the meteorite.' It was Daisy Chamberling that broke the news at her usual time, 5 o'clock. It was a horrific moment as shock was spread all over the world by this news. Usually Daisy goes on about unimportant cases but this time she was serious. That was the big moment the world changed. Although Daisy was a news caster and you would expect her to be a social woman, she wasn't. In fact she was the complete opposite. Daisy was a bright,...show more content... But over that couple of weeks the weather and matters started to get worse. The rain wouldn't stop so people were flooded in their houses, thunder and lightning would occasionally come and when it did, it sounded like someone hitting a symbol in your ear, it was so loud and frightening. There were also several earthquakes that didn't help matters as towns were being destroyed and no one could help dying or injured people. The world was one big disaster zone waiting to hit you in the face. This was when Chelsea decided to take drastic actions. She wanted to help improve situations even though the meteorite couldn't be stopped. She got the government to fly in food, necessities, the emergency crew and people willing to risks there lives for others. This all went to plan and for once in her life she felt like a woman, that she had always wanted to be. While people were busy doing work and helping out, Daisy sat in her house full of guilt and fear of what might and what will happen to her and surroundings. Countries were starting to get back up on there feet but so sudden and terrifying news brought them right back down with a 'big bang.' It was on the television, radios and computers – big news flashes about the meteorite. It was going to hit soon, not in months or weeks but in days. This meant that it was earth's last few days as a planet and the last few days of lives. People were spending as much time with their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Essay On Earth Day Earth Day Ana Aguilar SOC 302 Forests & Culture 2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day, in that year the main focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was on April 22, the 1970s all throughout the U.S. Know it's a global event that people from all over the world celebrated. Before the movement started in the 1970's, a great oil spill happened that Santa Barbara had in California, 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping the environment and teach the public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). Millions of people went to the street to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans have been overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored the environmental needs for many years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in protecting the environment. There are three main reasons why this movement is successful: The first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have to the movement and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an earth day activity. First, Gaylord Nelson wanted there to be a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 20. Early Earth Environments Life arose on Earth around four billion years ago, but under conditions that are strikingly different from those on Earth today. The terrestrial atmosphere, now rich in molecular oxygen, was not before oxygenic photosynthesis. The chemistries possible at the time that life began cannot be assumed to occur spontaneously on Earth today, nor can chemistry that happens spontaneously today be expected to have been favored four billion years ago. Thus, it is important to understand the possible abiotic chemistries in the context of early Earth environments, as these environments may be occurring today on places like Jupiter's moon Europa or Saturn's moon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
