English Journey Narrative
Rebecca's Story Sitting by the window, Rebecca was lost in thoughts of the past, the song playing on the radio had been their song, he would play it
and she would sing. Those had been the good times. "Rebecca are you packed yet?" her mother yelled from downstairs, rudely awakening her from
her daydreams. "Nearly finished Mum", was the reply, in reality she had hardly begun. She didn't know what to bring, what was important to her and
what she would need. It was only for 3 weeks. She put her suitcase onto her bed; inside it she put her underwear, 6 t–shirts, 4 singlets, 3 pairs of shorts,
jeans, 2 skirts, 1 dress, 2 pairs of swimming togs, a pair of Вѕ pants, a jumper, 2 pairs of shoes, her hairbrush and other toiletries...show more content...
"C'mon Becky, play tennis with me" her dad asked her "Dad I haven't played since I was about 8! I don't know how and I'd just make a fool of
myself" was her answer. He won the argument, she stuck on her trainers and they went to the court, she hit the ball hard, he complimented her on
her swing. The more she hit the ball the better she felt, she could feel the tension in her body leaving. They played everyday, followed by a swim;
she could feel herself improving in not only her skill but her fitness too. Music, it was something she enjoyed. Song after song she reflected, laying
in bed, she was having fun, her mind was busy with happy thoughts, everything she listened to reminded her of something, good times and bad,
she'd come to realise, that all she was carrying with her was starting to leave. Everything carried meaning, her teddy bear that he'd given her on her
18th birthday, it never left her; it allowed her to feel close to him when they were apart. The shirt she wore when he took her out for dinner, the skirt
that had been ripped when they were on the swings, she'd thrown it away but he saved it and had it mended for her, the earrings he'd given her for
Christmas which she'd worn ever since and the photos of him and her she carried with her. She took out her earrings, she changed the song to one her
and her friends danced to when they were

Narrative Essay for English 101
English101/ Narrative Essay I never thought the day would come where I'd have to admit to myself I had an addiction. The hardest part was to
except the fact I was an addict of painkillers and admitting it to my family so that I could get the help and support needed to get clean. The road
leading to my addiction started with the factors of my childhood, always trying to fit in and not being supported emotionally from my parents.
Having a child at the age of sixteen was the second factor, which made me grow up faster than a normal child at my age would have had to. Living the
life of an addict was a struggle everyday but, getting help was the hardest part of it all. I'll live with this disease for the rest of my life because recovery

Unfortunately, that situation didn't go as planned and living further away from my job with no car caused me to lose my job. Losing my job put
an extreme amount of stress on my family, due to not having money to pay the bills or to support my pill habit. At this point in time I knew I had a
problem with narcotics and needed help. I put it off when Tim got a job thinking that I could support my habit again. Things got better for a while
until Tim started using painkillers with me. Tim had gone so long trying to encourage me to stop, that he started using them with me. It was fun
using together for a few months; until I found out we were going to have a baby. Now, we were both addicted to narcotics, had no vehicle,
struggling just to get by financially, with a seven year old girl and a two year old girl. I knew something had to change because we were both too
weak to help each other get clean. Due to this, we decided it was best to move in with my father. When I made the call to my father to confess my
addiction, tears started running down my face. Admitting to my dad my struggle with narcotics was hard because I didn't want to be a
disappointment to him however, I needed to get help and the first step was to be honest and admit I had a problem. After I moved in with my father
and got settled, I went over what my options were to get clean while being five months pregnant. My dad had brought me to Athol Memorial Hospital,
which is where I went to speak with the

I failed AP English. I had missed the second quarter of the school year, almost completely, due to... technical difficulties. I got discharged from the
hospital mid–February, and for the remainder of junior year, the majority of my waking thoughts revolved around passing 11th grade. With
motivational speeches coming at me from my parents, friends, and teachers, I began to believe I had a chance of passing the year. I did my best,
which apparently was not enough. My teacher had picked up on my tremendous amount of effort, and on the last day of school, bumped my grade up to
a low D – just enough to pass. I was not exactly about to put my grade on display or anything, but I passed! Technically. This is not one of the
underdog–who–succeeded stories. The real success for me was (look away, it's clichГ©) realizing my best was enough. I sound disgusting....show more

Honors English As I sit in my classes I think about the time when I not included in something that I had wanted to do and was told that I was going

Personal Narrative: My English 101 Teacher
A teacher that had the most impact on me would be my previous English 101 professor. This professor has given me a new outlook on writing. Not
only that, but has shown me how to properly articulate my thoughts, in a scholarly way of course. This new enlightenment has really shown in recent
classes where the professors used my paper as an example for the class. Whereas, before my writing was not at a level it should have been, meaning it
was a bit sub–par. This professor has gone out of their way on more than occasion to help me with essays from other classes as well. Building upon
the skills thought in his class with skills other professors were teaching. These skills have even affected my social and military life. People can

The ability to guide and lead people is an impressive ability that was given by this newly founded articulation. The next aspect of my life that this
professor has affected is the military is filled with outstanding leaders that teach their knowledge on a daily basis. Though they have much more
experience than me, these leaders listen to my opinions and actually respect me for them. All this progress is because of this one English teacher
who, again, helped me transition to the college life of writing. Without the guidance of this professor I believe without a doubt I would not have
made it into the PTK honors society. The ascribed writing skills have been proven to be valuable day after day. Therefore, this professor has impacted
my life in multiple ways and all these ways have been for the

As the storm rolls over the house, lightning cracks in the distance lighting up the package on the front doorstep. The box had white and blue
stripes on it with a red ribbon holding the lid on. As I was bringing it in out of the rain, I noticed a note on the ribbon saying "Grandma: bEWarE"
It's written with some sort of dark red ink and some sort of sticking indented into a splotch at the bottom of the card. I didn't think much of it and
left it on the kitchen table to look at it tomorrow. I awaken to the sound of the cardboard lid falling on the floor and the note from the ribbon left
inside the box saying, "bEWarE." I looked around franticly for a few seconds thinking someone was playing a prank on me, but nothing, just a silent

from all around me. I drop the rubbish bag and franticly tried to find the light switch, I flicked it on as fast as I could, and then, there it was, a
raggedy dole sitting against the box. It has red string hair, which goes down to its shoulders, black beady button eyes with the right one hanging on

The Importance Of Narrative Writing
Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a
series of characters or one character who tell the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from start to
finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law
enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime occurred
during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the
report should always be written in first person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in the reports
identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me" is not being used to write the investigative reports, the
investigation could be sought as made up or fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along with
first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional
and easy to read. With this type of consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Personal Narrative: My English Composition
Writing makes possible to us expressing in a paper what we cannot communicate by talking. For this reason, the writer must make his composition
readable and understandable in order to get the idea by the reader of what he is attempting to communicate. This requires a whole writing process that I
have experienced thus far this semester in my English Composition I Honors Course. I have recognized what my strengths and weaknesses in writing
are. So that, focusing more on my weaknesses than my strengths will help me to improve much more my writing skills by the end of the semester.
One of my strengths in writing is that I plan what I am going to express in my written work. As a brainstorm, I begin by putting all the ideas that come
to my mind on my paper. Nevertheless, in this process, I usually lose the meaning of what I try to communicate. My sentences become
incomprehensible and confusing to the readers because I am not being clear and concise. Besides that, I am not a very detailed writer. This negative
aspect is caused not because I do not want to seek information thoroughly, but because I believe that including a lot of details might be overloaded to
the readers. Hence, I am planning to avoid this wrong thought of mine by...show more content...
If the writer wants to draw interest on the readers about his paper, he will have to write an interesting introduction. During the semester, I have
recognized that this is another of my weaknesses. It seems hard for me to find a hook to engage the reader's attention. I usually spend a lot of time
thinking about how to write a good introduction. As a solution, I have begun reading the work from professional writers to analyze what they use to
start their written works. I realized that a common way to start a composition is by writing an anecdote or a startling fact related to the topic. I found
this useful because it gives a general idea of how to write better

For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I
talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for
ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a
lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime.
I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that
my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to
write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on
reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of
learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content...
Of course, there are certain defects or gaps in my knowledge or ability to use the English language like using idioms and the appropriateness of some
vocabulary. Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the
connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary.
English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point

Personal Narrative: My Tenth Grade English Class
I have never been a loud person, and because of that fact I have always loved to read. I find comfort in curling up with a good book and will almost
always take staying in reading over going out to see the latest box office hit. In my tenth–grade english class, it was the first time participation through
speaking up in class would impact my grade significantly, and consequently I was forced to voice my opinion. The first time I spoke up in class I
remember being very nervous to do so. I was afraid my opinion would be wrong or people would not like what I had to say, but as I spoke, I slowly
saw heads nodding towards me, whispers of agreement, and finally a positive remark from my teacher for my analysis. From that moment on, I felt

I almost never make promises, I'm always afraid I might break them. However, I've made one promise I will forever keep, always try my absolute

Grammar Narrative Paper : English Language
Grammar Narrative Paper As being the first Canadian–born daughter to my parents who have immigrated from India, I have encountered a lot of
hardships towards my journey in learning the English language. Since childhood I have always been a quiet girl, who was always to shy to
express what her thoughts had to share. I would never raise my hand in class to answer questions I knew answers of, nor be the first to talk in a
conversation. Rather, I would convince myself that it was right to not talk aloud incase my English was at fault. Due to this barrier at a very young
age, I needed some sort of balance in understanding my thoughts. Therefore, I developed a deep devotion towards writing and it become the single
one thing that gave me a voice, which provided me with clarity. My life only made sense to me, if I had written it down in front of me where I could
recollect my thoughts into one place to reflect on them. Through all the situations I have encountered in life, whether then were good or bad, I have
written them all down through short stories, poems, song writing or just daily blog posts. Doing such has helped me to put into practice the
grammatical techniques I was taught starting off as a child. The earliest memory I can recall of my English experience is beginning off as a child, I
had the most difficulty with English grammar out of all the components of English. The main struggle I was encountered with was understanding
which was right from wrong. I would learn a

Twelfth Grade English Narrative Prompts
Back in twelfth grade English we were handed three different narrative prompts. We were told to pick one of the prompts and write about it. The
prompt that stood out to me the most was think of a time when you taught someone something important. I thought about it for a while and what
popped into my mind was a time back in seventh grade. There was an Autistic kid in my class that I had the privilege of teaching how to do basic
math. To me that was a great story and a great experience that I wanted to write about. Looking back on my paper now, I realize that it is not that great
of a piece. The story lacks the nitty–gritty details stories need to make them a great story. Every discourse has a purpose; without a purpose, the
narrative or speech will be pointless. The discourse would also not be well written and no one would want to read the piece. This story was written
with the wrong purpose in mind. The story that is being told is a wonderful and powerful story, but the story's purpose at the time was to answer the

Unlike other children I have met, he was different. He has strong acting Autism, which freaked out many people, as they did not know how to act
around him. Yet, for me it was easy. I would be myself when I talked to him and we got to know each other. The things he told me gave me a new
perspective on the world around me. I learned not to be quick to judge a person and if you take the time to get to know someone that you normally
would not become friends with, you could discover things you never knew. John helped me change how I interact with the people around me and
make new friends. He was amazing in every way possible. John touched my heart in a way that I will never

English Journey Narrative

  • 1. English Journey Narrative Rebecca's Story Sitting by the window, Rebecca was lost in thoughts of the past, the song playing on the radio had been their song, he would play it and she would sing. Those had been the good times. "Rebecca are you packed yet?" her mother yelled from downstairs, rudely awakening her from her daydreams. "Nearly finished Mum", was the reply, in reality she had hardly begun. She didn't know what to bring, what was important to her and what she would need. It was only for 3 weeks. She put her suitcase onto her bed; inside it she put her underwear, 6 t–shirts, 4 singlets, 3 pairs of shorts, jeans, 2 skirts, 1 dress, 2 pairs of swimming togs, a pair of Вѕ pants, a jumper, 2 pairs of shoes, her hairbrush and other toiletries...show more content... "C'mon Becky, play tennis with me" her dad asked her "Dad I haven't played since I was about 8! I don't know how and I'd just make a fool of myself" was her answer. He won the argument, she stuck on her trainers and they went to the court, she hit the ball hard, he complimented her on her swing. The more she hit the ball the better she felt, she could feel the tension in her body leaving. They played everyday, followed by a swim; she could feel herself improving in not only her skill but her fitness too. Music, it was something she enjoyed. Song after song she reflected, laying in bed, she was having fun, her mind was busy with happy thoughts, everything she listened to reminded her of something, good times and bad, she'd come to realise, that all she was carrying with her was starting to leave. Everything carried meaning, her teddy bear that he'd given her on her 18th birthday, it never left her; it allowed her to feel close to him when they were apart. The shirt she wore when he took her out for dinner, the skirt that had been ripped when they were on the swings, she'd thrown it away but he saved it and had it mended for her, the earrings he'd given her for Christmas which she'd worn ever since and the photos of him and her she carried with her. She took out her earrings, she changed the song to one her and her friends danced to when they were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Narrative Essay for English 101 English101/ Narrative Essay I never thought the day would come where I'd have to admit to myself I had an addiction. The hardest part was to except the fact I was an addict of painkillers and admitting it to my family so that I could get the help and support needed to get clean. The road leading to my addiction started with the factors of my childhood, always trying to fit in and not being supported emotionally from my parents. Having a child at the age of sixteen was the second factor, which made me grow up faster than a normal child at my age would have had to. Living the life of an addict was a struggle everyday but, getting help was the hardest part of it all. I'll live with this disease for the rest of my life because recovery is a...show more content... Unfortunately, that situation didn't go as planned and living further away from my job with no car caused me to lose my job. Losing my job put an extreme amount of stress on my family, due to not having money to pay the bills or to support my pill habit. At this point in time I knew I had a problem with narcotics and needed help. I put it off when Tim got a job thinking that I could support my habit again. Things got better for a while until Tim started using painkillers with me. Tim had gone so long trying to encourage me to stop, that he started using them with me. It was fun using together for a few months; until I found out we were going to have a baby. Now, we were both addicted to narcotics, had no vehicle, struggling just to get by financially, with a seven year old girl and a two year old girl. I knew something had to change because we were both too weak to help each other get clean. Due to this, we decided it was best to move in with my father. When I made the call to my father to confess my addiction, tears started running down my face. Admitting to my dad my struggle with narcotics was hard because I didn't want to be a disappointment to him however, I needed to get help and the first step was to be honest and admit I had a problem. After I moved in with my father and got settled, I went over what my options were to get clean while being five months pregnant. My dad had brought me to Athol Memorial Hospital, which is where I went to speak with the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Ap English Narrative I failed AP English. I had missed the second quarter of the school year, almost completely, due to... technical difficulties. I got discharged from the hospital mid–February, and for the remainder of junior year, the majority of my waking thoughts revolved around passing 11th grade. With motivational speeches coming at me from my parents, friends, and teachers, I began to believe I had a chance of passing the year. I did my best, which apparently was not enough. My teacher had picked up on my tremendous amount of effort, and on the last day of school, bumped my grade up to a low D – just enough to pass. I was not exactly about to put my grade on display or anything, but I passed! Technically. This is not one of the underdog–who–succeeded stories. The real success for me was (look away, it's clichГ©) realizing my best was enough. I sound disgusting....show more content... I mean, I make realizations all the time. Like, when someone tells a joke and a week later I burst out laughing in sixth–period government. Constant little light bulbs going off over my head. Sometimes, it's not even that an idea has never been presented to me, but just that it hasn't clicked yet. Therapist after therapist telling me, "You care too much about what people think. Why do you need their validation?" I understood the words, but I don't think it was until earlier this year that I actually grasped the concept of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Narrative Essay On Honor English Honors English As I sit in my classes I think about the time when I not included in something that I had wanted to do and was told that I was going to do. Ms Redmond had clarified, "You all will be in Honors english next year will some more kids to make a full class." I had thought about this all summer and hoped that it was going to be as fun as last year. Every night after he registered us for school I went down to my dad's desk area. He had a computer that was surprising touching the wood. You could not see the wood from the top because of all the paper and computer equipment. As I came each night I could see the paper taking of the back section of the room. but sadly this was not even tax season and the paper would only grow. "Dad have...show more content... But I still had not had it, I did not know what to do so my dad had suggest, "we should check the office for the schedule." We went to the office and found out they had anyone's scheduled. They searched my name I got my schedule, at first glance I was okay with it. I found out earlier that I would have a bad locker, one at the end of the school, instead of one in the middle. When I was looking over my schedule honors english. This made me sad, but I thought I could talk to Ms.Redmond about it. I went to at and saw that Ms.Redmond was not in her room. I thought that maybe she was with her at. I went to my at to get my Chromebook. I went on as normal seeing who is my AT. I could not see right away because you got there early. Therefore we started to do the paperwork in order to get the Chromebook. It was easy, all we had to do was sign and initial paperwork. After this my dad has to me, "would you like to see anybody else?" I of course had replied, " I want to see if I can get my schedule Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Narrative: My English 101 Teacher A teacher that had the most impact on me would be my previous English 101 professor. This professor has given me a new outlook on writing. Not only that, but has shown me how to properly articulate my thoughts, in a scholarly way of course. This new enlightenment has really shown in recent classes where the professors used my paper as an example for the class. Whereas, before my writing was not at a level it should have been, meaning it was a bit sub–par. This professor has gone out of their way on more than occasion to help me with essays from other classes as well. Building upon the skills thought in his class with skills other professors were teaching. These skills have even affected my social and military life. People can understand my points regarding any topic much better than before....show more content... The ability to guide and lead people is an impressive ability that was given by this newly founded articulation. The next aspect of my life that this professor has affected is the military is filled with outstanding leaders that teach their knowledge on a daily basis. Though they have much more experience than me, these leaders listen to my opinions and actually respect me for them. All this progress is because of this one English teacher who, again, helped me transition to the college life of writing. Without the guidance of this professor I believe without a doubt I would not have made it into the PTK honors society. The ascribed writing skills have been proven to be valuable day after day. Therefore, this professor has impacted my life in multiple ways and all these ways have been for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. English 3 Year 11 Narrative Essay As the storm rolls over the house, lightning cracks in the distance lighting up the package on the front doorstep. The box had white and blue stripes on it with a red ribbon holding the lid on. As I was bringing it in out of the rain, I noticed a note on the ribbon saying "Grandma: bEWarE" It's written with some sort of dark red ink and some sort of sticking indented into a splotch at the bottom of the card. I didn't think much of it and left it on the kitchen table to look at it tomorrow. I awaken to the sound of the cardboard lid falling on the floor and the note from the ribbon left inside the box saying, "bEWarE." I looked around franticly for a few seconds thinking someone was playing a prank on me, but nothing, just a silent house. I put the box and the lid in the bin and started to get ready for work but I couldn't get the note out of my head....show more content... A couple of days later when I went to take out the trash I found the white and blue striped box sitting on my kitchen table with the slid sitting next to it again. I start to walk over to the box to take it out with the other trash when the lights go out. In the pitch room, I hear a child's laughter coming from all around me. I drop the rubbish bag and franticly tried to find the light switch, I flicked it on as fast as I could, and then, there it was, a raggedy dole sitting against the box. It has red string hair, which goes down to its shoulders, black beady button eyes with the right one hanging on by a thread and a red thin lined smile. His left hand had a red bloodstain going half way up its arm and his clothes were like a child's. I rush to grab the garbage bag from the floor to chuck that evil looking dole in the trash where it belongs. I take the bag outside and put it in bin, knowing that would not be the last time I see that cursed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. English Narrative Assessment As the sweat dripped down my back there was no uncertainty in my mind, my black word was worth nothing. Atticus stayed positive, he acted confident but he surely knew we didn't stand a chance. The audience was disinterested like they knew what they were waiting for. Mayella couldn't look at me; she knew how much damage she had caused me. All my life I have worked to support my family, and my kindness has led me to an argument where I stand powerless. This town hates people like me; my family and I are good people. I could sense the nervousness in Atticus as he taps his dry fingers against the wooden table; he flapped his jacket to relieve himself of the scorching weather. Atticus spoke assertively "Don't worry Tom, our case is strong". Every minute dragged on as I stared at the door waiting for the jury, my fate. I could hear Bob Ewell muttering under his breath "Nigger lover!"...show more content... He was truly a coward. I've never hated a man in my life until I met Bob Ewell I always wondered why I was born black and how that makes me different from the whites. It's been hours since the jury left, I gained hope, no jury usually even bothers discussing the verdict when a black man is involved. I thought about my family and how much I missed them, I just want to hug them for possibly the last time. I worry about how they will survive without me. I feel as if I have failed my family. As like others, I found myself afraid to talked and keen to socialize with a group. The event of 8th–grade English class, Mr. Wright, assigns us an oral presentation. We have to present the project front of our class. I despise oral presentations and at a time my mind was filled with irrational thoughts. Fortunately, I have found myself with a group of people, who diligently guide me through the semester. I vividly recall those riveting moments, that I tackled my worst fear. • 9. The Importance Of Narrative Writing Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a series of characters or one character who tell the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from start to finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime occurred during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the report should always be written in first person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in the reports identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me" is not being used to write the investigative reports, the investigation could be sought as made up or fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along with first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional and easy to read. With this type of consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Personal Narrative: My English Composition Writing makes possible to us expressing in a paper what we cannot communicate by talking. For this reason, the writer must make his composition readable and understandable in order to get the idea by the reader of what he is attempting to communicate. This requires a whole writing process that I have experienced thus far this semester in my English Composition I Honors Course. I have recognized what my strengths and weaknesses in writing are. So that, focusing more on my weaknesses than my strengths will help me to improve much more my writing skills by the end of the semester. One of my strengths in writing is that I plan what I am going to express in my written work. As a brainstorm, I begin by putting all the ideas that come to my mind on my paper. Nevertheless, in this process, I usually lose the meaning of what I try to communicate. My sentences become incomprehensible and confusing to the readers because I am not being clear and concise. Besides that, I am not a very detailed writer. If the writer wants to draw interest on the readers about his paper, he will have to write an interesting introduction. During the semester, I have recognized that this is another of my weaknesses. It seems hard for me to find a hook to engage the reader's attention. I usually spend a lot of time thinking about how to write a good introduction. As a solution, I have begun reading the work from professional writers to analyze what they use to start their written works. I realized that a common way to start a composition is by writing an anecdote or a startling fact related to the topic. I found this useful because it gives a general idea of how to write better Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime. I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content... Of course, there are certain defects or gaps in my knowledge or ability to use the English language like using idioms and the appropriateness of some vocabulary. Idioms have many connotations and denotations in the English language. Sometimes I use an idiom and I mean something, but the connotations of the idiom means something else. Another gap of my knowledge of the language is the appropriateness of using certain vocabulary. English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Personal Narrative: My Tenth Grade English Class I have never been a loud person, and because of that fact I have always loved to read. I find comfort in curling up with a good book and will almost always take staying in reading over going out to see the latest box office hit. In my tenth–grade english class, it was the first time participation through speaking up in class would impact my grade significantly, and consequently I was forced to voice my opinion. The first time I spoke up in class I remember being very nervous to do so. I was afraid my opinion would be wrong or people would not like what I had to say, but as I spoke, I slowly saw heads nodding towards me, whispers of agreement, and finally a positive remark from my teacher for my analysis. From that moment on, I felt comfortable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Narrative Essay On Ap English I almost never make promises, I'm always afraid I might break them. However, I've made one promise I will forever keep, always try my absolute best. In my mind, one way I could keep this promise was by trying to undertake the highest level of courses in the subjects I favored the most. So, when sophomore year was close to an end it was my first chance at signing up for an AP class to take for my junior year. But, junior year I noticed no AP class. Thus, I went to talk to my guidance counselor and asked him if I could take AP English. He told me there were no seats available, for any AP class. Consequently, at the end of my junior year my classmates and I met with our counselor to make our schedules for our senior year. I was certainly taking Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Grammar Narrative Paper : English Language Grammar Narrative Paper As being the first Canadian–born daughter to my parents who have immigrated from India, I have encountered a lot of hardships towards my journey in learning the English language. Since childhood I have always been a quiet girl, who was always to shy to express what her thoughts had to share. I would never raise my hand in class to answer questions I knew answers of, nor be the first to talk in a conversation. Rather, I would convince myself that it was right to not talk aloud incase my English was at fault. Due to this barrier at a very young age, I needed some sort of balance in understanding my thoughts. Therefore, I developed a deep devotion towards writing and it become the single one thing that gave me a voice, which provided me with clarity. My life only made sense to me, if I had written it down in front of me where I could recollect my thoughts into one place to reflect on them. Through all the situations I have encountered in life, whether then were good or bad, I have written them all down through short stories, poems, song writing or just daily blog posts. Doing such has helped me to put into practice the grammatical techniques I was taught starting off as a child. The earliest memory I can recall of my English experience is beginning off as a child, I had the most difficulty with English grammar out of all the components of English. The main struggle I was encountered with was understanding which was right from wrong. I would learn a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Twelfth Grade English Narrative Prompts Back in twelfth grade English we were handed three different narrative prompts. We were told to pick one of the prompts and write about it. The prompt that stood out to me the most was think of a time when you taught someone something important. I thought about it for a while and what popped into my mind was a time back in seventh grade. There was an Autistic kid in my class that I had the privilege of teaching how to do basic math. To me that was a great story and a great experience that I wanted to write about. Looking back on my paper now, I realize that it is not that great of a piece. The story lacks the nitty–gritty details stories need to make them a great story. Every discourse has a purpose; without a purpose, the narrative or speech will be pointless. The discourse would also not be well written and no one would want to read the piece. This story was written with the wrong purpose in mind. The story that is being told is a wonderful and powerful story, but the story's purpose at the time was to answer the ...show more content... He has strong acting Autism, which freaked out many people, as they did not know how to act around him. Yet, for me it was easy. I would be myself when I talked to him and we got to know each other. The things he told me gave me a new perspective on the world around me. I learned not to be quick to judge a person and if you take the time to get to know someone that you normally would not become friends with, you could discover things you never knew. John helped me change how I interact with the people around me and make new friends. He was amazing in every way possible. John touched my heart in a way that I will never Get more content on HelpWriting.net
