The Met is taking amajor step

office.Our In Vehicle
Mobile Applications (IVMA)
project aims to replace and
improve existing mobile data
terminals and their applications
with the latest technology. All
the way through the project’s
development, the IVMA team
will be holding workshops
and user groups with PCs,

The text to voice feature will read
aloud despatch information and
critical deployment information to
the driver while the vehicle is en
route. It’s not just cool, it’s required
to comply with legislation and for
safety reasons.

Other features being considered are ANPR for more cars,
speed detection and situational awareness, which is the
automated provision of information to officers about the area
in which they are patrolling. High-resolution digital cameras
will also feature on selected vehicles in the fleet.
