is subjective.
03
Open-ended assessments are valid just like other
forms of assessments (e.g. close-ended assessments).
Open-ended assessments like essays and performance
tasks are valid objective assessments as long as (1)
they are aligned with the learning objective and (2)
clear and detailed scoring rubrics are used.
4. All assessments items always have
only one correct answer.
04
Assessment items may have more than one correct
answer. For example, essays, and performance tasks
(which are types of open-ended questions) do not
require a single, final, and correct answer (often have
multiple correct answer) because it aims to assess
transferable ideas within (and sometimes across)
disciplines or the student’s ability to think critically
and solve problems.
5. Open-ended assessment procedures
are not valid because the evaluation
is subjective.
03
Open-ended assessment are valid procedures
because assessment means you are assessing the
knowledge or response of the student based on their
learning experiences, they are answering based on
their knowledge or ideas caught by understanding
and listening to the speaker.

6. All assessments items always have
only one correct answer.
04
All assessment items sometimes can have 1-2
answers, because there are different opinions and
unique experiences of every student. Example if the
teacher asks what they experience after going to a
field trip in a science museum, many students can
have their own answers and all of them are correct
because it is from their opinion. Another example is
in essay, they can have different insight but all their
answers can be correct.

7. All assessments items always have
only one correct answer.
04
There are many different types of assessments, some
of which may have multiple correct answers or call for
subjective judgment. Some assessment items, such as
multiple-choice questions, typically have only one
correct response. It is important to understand that
assessments can take many different forms and may
call for various types of responses depending on the
subject and learning objectives, even though some
assessment items do have a single correct response.
