Charter
The Pre-school Learning Alliance aims to provide high quality training and assessment
enabling learners to gain qualifications appropriate to their roles in early years settings.
This charter describes what we provide to learners and the Alliance’s expectations of
them.

Before you become a learner we aimto

the range of trainingavailable andthe
achievementsof ourlearners;
informationadvice andguidance
about choosingthe righttraining
programme;
informationabouthowtoenrol and
costs,fees,loansavailableand
remissions(reductions);
informationaboutsupportforstudy
and where personal supportis
needed;
the name, contact addressand
telephonenumberof the Course
Manager responsible.
On enrolment
When you become a learner we aim to
provide:
informationaboutthe syllabus,
teachingandlearningmethods,work
placements,assessmentmethodsand
certificationof yourqualificationor
course;
the opportunitytodevelopan
individuallearningplantosupport
your studies;
informationonstartand finishdates,
timingandvenue;
informationonrefreshmentfacilities
and the availabilityof childcare;
informationabouthow andwhento
pay fees;
detailsof ourequalitypolicy; and
detailsof ourcomplaintsandappeals
procedures.

Our expectations
As a learner we expect you to:
Demonstrate self-respect and respect for others;
Show empathy for others;
Support your tutor, assessor and fellow learners in maintaining the safety and
well-being of each other;
Listen while others are speaking and not talk while others are speaking;
Consider other learner’s points of view and opinions which may differ from your
own;
Be committed to your studies, in class, in independent study and in the
workplace;
Act with honesty and integrity as a learner;
Show respect for property and the environment.
Disclose, confidentially, any disability or special need so that we can meet your
learning needs;
Attend classes and work placements punctually and regularly;
Complete assignments to planned and agreed deadlines; and
Ask for help if you need it.
