mobility client for three years, the customer’s business needs
were shifting rapidly following an acquisition. Graebel Relocation

THE CHALLENGE
To calculate an accurate international short-term assignment cost estimate in less than 24-hours.
THE SOLUTION
Immediately when the client sent the rush request via the Graebel proprietary system, the
compensation team began compiling the cost estimate.
On a regular basis, Graebel updates its cost
of living matrixes for countries around the
world and for various country-to-country
combinations. Accurate, timely updates are
gathered from on-the-ground resources,
including the decades’ old vast network of
best-in-market partners in 165 countries. For
example, an extensive, current database of
Cairo temporary living facilities and costs were
readily available, when the client requested
the estimate.
Sources such as Air, Inc.® and Mercer® tables
were utilised to aid in the per diem calculation.
And, pre-bill templates were employed to
create a thorough end-to-end estimate.
THE RESULTS
In six-hours the cost estimate was accurately calculated and a detailed report provided. The client
contact became the hero, because he delivered the data to his business leaders sooner than requested;
and, a calculated business decision resulted concerning the candidate’s assignment to Egypt.
