2. History and present of the
department
Department of Economic Geography of the Faculty of Geology and Geography of
Kharkiv university was founded in 1934
In 2002 – it received the name of the department of "Human geography and
regional studies".
The department is headed by the D.Sc. In Geography, professor Liudmyla
Niemets.
Thaining of specialists is carried out by 4 doctors of science, professors,
11 PhD, associate professors who provide training of students with use of
contemporary methods and the latest technologies of studying.
An educational laboratory at the faculty of geology, geography,
recreation and tourism functions, which provides educational process of
lecturers of the department where students have possibility to use computers and
the Internet .
Library fund of the department counts over 750 copies, which students use
during preparation for classes .
Today 142 students study at the department, among them 2
foreigners, 5 PhD students.

Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies trains
