Pre-K3 Teacher Observation
I interviewed Dr. Johnson who is an administrator at AW Brown Fellowship Charter School. We discussed a conflict she encountered with the pre
ā€“K 3
teacher and her teacher assistant (TA). The preā€“K 3 teacher was a returning teacher. She had done an outstanding job with the 3 year olds the previous
year. Everyone was impressed on how well she had done being a first year teaching. The TA was a new hire, her first year teaching. The pre
ā€“K3 teacher
and her TA did not see eye to eye. As a result the instruction was not quality instruction, transition with the students was a disaster and classroom
management was not good "it was like a zoo" said Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson, after observing the class a few times, met with the preā€“K3 teacher and
inquired what the problem was. The preā€“K3 teacher told her she was not getting the support she needed from her TA. Dr....show more content...
Johnson then gave her two weeks to implement what she had learned. To her surprise still no improvement. She then had a meeting with the TA about
the situation. The TA blamed the pre k3 teacher. She said that the teacher isn't doing what she is supposed to do. Dr. Johnson notices that there was no
communication between the two teachers. As a result the students were not learning and behavior issues increased. She then had the teacher shadow
another preā€“K3 class for three days and take notes. She was hoping that they would both find their role and work together. She then gave her two
weeks to implement what she observed. At the end of two weeks still no success. The student's behavior was not improving and the teachers were not
speaking to each other. Finally, Dr. Johnson met with them both together to discuss the matter. She put them on a weekly goal setting plan and met
with them every week to check success. She made sure that they were sending home the discipline forms to parents informing them of their child's
behavior. Making sure parents were aware of problems with their child to get their

Classroom Observation
I had the pleasure of observing a classroom containing kindergarteners through second graders. In these classes I observed two students. One male
one female. They had a variety of different traits and displayed skills to provide information of their development. Each of these children was at
different stage of their development. I also visited a special needs classroom. They had a variety of traits that showed their development as well. They
differ from the other students I observed.
Average school aged children gain the ability to cut straight lines and cut out shapes with scissors. They usually have a noticeable preference for the
right or left hand. They are able to participate more in self care by brushing their own teeth and, for the...show more content...
She couldn't cut straight or even stay in the lines of her picture. She had a hard time creating the project. She was however very good at memorizing
everything she needed to for her project. Socially she was actively talking to other students and would even try to help them memorize the material.
She was very polite and friendly.
These observations were just a few of the many students in the classroom. Each of them had displayed a variety of traits but I choose these four to
provide examples of development in early children in the school setting. Many excelled socially, but others had trouble. Many were showing great
physical development, but many didn't. All children develop at different speeds. But these are just a few examples I observed. I hope to continue my
observations in my own time and one day teach these children so I can watch them grow and develop. I love children and observing them is a great

My Teacher Interview And Observation Essay
For my teacher interview and observation, I observed and interviewed Mrs. Jackie Tosh. She is a 3rd grade teacher and has 24 students in her
class. Mrs. Tosh graduated from ESU; she obtained her Bachelors in 2004 and her Masters in 2010. Mrs. Tosh plans and prepares for her classes
three days in advance, with her team. They come up with objectives and decide how they will accomplish each of them. The team then sits down
again to see where they are at and to discuss if there is anything they need to cover again. The Pa. Preā€“Kā€“12 Academic Standards are incorporated into
their planning. The teachers each receive a checklist to make sure all academic standards are covered before PSSA's start. Age and/ or related
characteristics of students are also discussed during their planning periods. Mrs. Tosh mentioned that she does have learning goals for a student with
individual needs. This student has a gifted IEP. The student requires more challenging work and enrichment services. For example, if other students
receive a multipleā€“choice problem, this student may receive an openā€“ended problem. This student may also be graded harder, because the student has
higher expectations. There are various resources, materials, technology and activities to engage students in meaningful ways, based on the instructional
goals. There are many posters hanging on the walls, and a lot of technology throughout the room as well. I observed elements of effective classroom
management; I observed from

Classroom Observation
Properly conducted classroom observation is a powerful tool in the continuing professional development of teachers. The revised performance
management arrangement for teachers, which came into force on 1 September, 2007, clearly set the expectation that classroom observations are to be
developmental in nature and multiā€“purpose in usage. The Education ( School Teacher Performance Management) Regulations 2006 state that the total
period of classroom observation allowed per performance management cycle should not exceed three hours and, in many cases, will be less, depending
on individual circumstances. The performance management regulations require that classroom observation, and the performance management cycle,

Classroom Research and Second Language Development:ā€“ The success of a course of language studies in a classroomis judged in terms of the product,
that is, the learners' terminal proficiency. To do this a number of tests and examinations are available which measure that proficiency. However, the
examinations themselves can never inform us of the role that classroom work played in the scores obtained. In the classroom interaction occurs
interactionn between teachers, learners and materials. This is the essential element of the classroom. An important step in the classroom is the image
that the observer presents. Sometimes, no doubt, observers are perceived, as Rosen vividly puts it, as ' sinister figures in the wings, faintly
contemptuous, armed with the paraphernalia of expertise and tapping ominously their research findings.' Such an image would be totally incompatible
with ethnographic research which crucially depends on a relationship of trust. If the classroom ethnographer is regarded as an evaluator or inspector,
the entire enterprise becomes impossible. This is of central importance to Classroom Research. Neutrality in Classroom Research means studying the
interaction as it occurs in the context, from the perspective of those that are being studied. This can be done through participant observation or

A.Evaluation Form or Observation Protocol
The evaluation form that was used to evaluate a classroom teacher's performance is a rubric used by the school district (Hillsborough County Public
Schools, 2012).
A1. Performance Factors
The teacher was rated using a rubric with specific criteria in four domains including planning and preparation, the classroom environment, instruction,
and professional responsibilities (Hillsborough County Public Schools, 2012). Within each of these domains are components which are the
performance factors that are relevant to classroom teachers. In domain one the components include: demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy,
demonstrating knowledge of students, setting instructional outcomes,...show more content...
When the teacher was talking about how the students would do during the lesson, she did reflect that there were some that would grasp the concept
easily, but others that were still having a difficult time with identifying letters and sounds so would struggle with this lesson. I immediately thought that
it might be effective to incorporate differentiated instruction which was not mentioned during the preā€“conference. The teacher planned a variety of
activities such as songs, word card and letter match, and center activities. When I listened to the teacher describe the lesson, I noticed there was a lack
of text being included. I know that best practice is to teach phonicsā€“based skills within text, so this was a concern for me.
Reflecting on the preā€“conference I know that the teacher does use data to show that her students need the skills, but plans lessons based on the whole
group. This is a new teacher in the district, and she is still trying to learn the curriculum and the Common Core foundational skills. She seems to be
struggling on how to integrate the skills into the daily reading block.
C.Completed Evaluation Form
The results of the observation are attached. The areas that were rated are marked with a red letter X.

Teachers are aware of what they should do in the classroom when teaching young children. Teachers should provide opportunities to develop positive
dispositions toward learning when working with young children to make sure they are using their knowledge and skills. Teaching young children, the
skills that need to learn about is the big key of understanding what the information that you will need when you are assessing the young children. In this
paper, the reader will read about observation and documentation as assessment and why is it important? The reader will also read about the difference
between looking at and authentically or genuinely observing a child, the types of documentation, two types of documentation that relate how teachers
use the documentation in the classroom and how documentations would be useful as assessments.
Observation is something that educators do carefully to gain information about young children. Documentation is the process of collecting evidence
that serves as a record. When teachers observe the young children, it provides the information that the teachers need to build relationships with
individual children and enable them to be successful learners. The best way the teachers should learn about children by carefully watching them,
listening to them and studying their work. When the teachers are watching and listening to children helps us understand what they are feeling, learning
and thinking. Observation is an excellent way to track children's

Observation In The Math Classroom
Observations for Jose took place on his science and math classrooms respectively. At the beginning of the class, the teacher asked a question to the
group, Jose raised his hand to answer. He remained quiet on his desk while teacher explained the lesson in detail to the whole class. During the
rest of the class, he remained seated on his desk and participated in the discussion at the proper time. The teacher showed a video to the class and
asked some questions, most of the class tried to answer them, but Jose didn't seem interested as he was with his head down on his arms. Next Day
during the math period, students were working in small groups. Jose actively participated in the class discussion. He reviewed his paperwork with his
peers and asked a few questions to the teacher's assistant. Jose followed the teacher commands until the class finished. During the interview process,
Jose mentioned that his favorite subjects were reading and science, conversely the subject that gives him most trouble is English because kids in the
class laugh at him. Jose thinks that learning is natural for him and he can complete assigned works but doesn't feel being as smart as the other
students. When with his friends, he likes to hang out, play games and soccer. About his other classmates, he stated not getting along with them because
they are always pushing or tickling him. Jose reported having no problems with the teachers or at school in general. On weekends, he usually enjoys of

Essay On Classroom Observation
Observing in classrooms provide future teachers many opportunities to gain valuable experience in a real classroom. I completed my observation
hours at two schools, Sandlick Elementary and L.F. Addington Middle school. All the teachers I observed were very nice and helped me in any way
they could. Because I observed at two schools I was able to see the difference in the approach and learning of material from elementary to middle
school. I have gained valuable information from observing, which will enable me to teach my future students proficiently and effectively. While
observing at Sandlick Elementary school I was placed with Mrs. Robin Belcher in the third grade. I observed Mrs. Belcher's classroom at a critical
time, as they were preparing to take the Benchmark test. I observed Mrs. Belcher for three consecutive days two of which were spent reviewing for
the upcoming test. Mrs. Belcher used worksheets to review previously covered material. While observing the third grade classroom, I was able to
provide one on one help for some students. Mrs. Belcher had three to five students in her classroom who had implemented Individualized Education
Plans. Mrs. Belcher primarily allowed me to work with her special needs students. I worked with one student in particular on understanding the
meaning of the vocabulary words that were covered. To help the student, I read all the definitions to her and then asked her to tell me each word's
meaning. I also sat with one student while she

Observation Reflection
As I walked into the classroom for my first day of observations, I was greeted with a warm "Hello!" In fact, each time that I entered a new classroom
I was given the same greeting. All of the teachers were more than happy to be helping a future educator by letting me observe their teaching styles and
learn new techniques to use.
Through spending time in various classrooms, I have gained valuable information that I will take with me into student teaching and my future
classroom.
Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in the classrooms that I visited. The most prominent of them was the use of
word walls.

For one reading aloud lesson, the teacher used the "popcorn reading" strategy. She did most of the reading, but every once in a while she picked
one of the students to take over. I think that this was a great way to handle the book that they were reading because there was some difficult
vocabulary in the section that they read that day. This style helped me to realize that even though they are in 4 th grade, the students do not have
to be responsible for all of the reading all of the time. It is a good thing to give them a break every so often and just let them enjoy the story
through following along. However, I did like that she would stop about every other paragraph and ask questions about tough vocabulary and what
was happening in the story. This is a great way to make sure that the students were really following along and not staring at the floor or off into space.
She also was able to insert a minilesson review on using context clues to figure out the meaning of an unknown word. Since she knew which students
would be comfortable reading the material in front of the whole class and which would not, the teacher was able to choose the confident readers to do
the reading aloud and have the others answer the questions.
With buddy reading, I think that it is a great way for a strong reader to help a struggling reader. As a class read their material in pairs, I heard one little
girl encourage her partner who was struggling with some of the

Classroom Observation Essay
As a teacher being creative and thinking outside the box is crucial in connecting with your students. After observing at Suffern High School on October
tenth and twelfth, it gave me a new perspective on how different students learn. I sat in on Mr. William Delaneys inclusion classes that ranged from
grades nine to twelve. Even though my focus is childhood education, it is very important to see the outcome teachers throughout the years made on the
students. Getting a better insight on how students learn and think will help me for when I get into the classroom as well. Every student is unique in
their own way, and that is what makes teaching so special and exciting. During my first half hour observing this class it was quite diverse. There...show

so accomplished and thanked Mr. Delaney for helping him stay positive. Observing high school is completely different then elementary school. Mr.
Delaney had an off period where he then started prepping for the next class. His prep is not the same as a main stream class. He needed to print
out every one of their IEP and 504, so he can go over them with each student. Mr. Delaney feels that most children do not even know why they are
placed in the class and do not know what their goals are. He stressed that when I become a teacher to sit with each student individually and set their
own goals as well as the ones stated on their documents. Mr. Delaney, also spoke to the students core teachers to see how they were doing and
what they needed to work on. I think staying in contact with their other teachers is important since as a high school teacher you do not see them
every period. The fourth hour I was observing, the teacher was faced with tough decisions. As the class started he realized one child was not in the
classroom, who he had seen earlier in the day. Mr. Delaney then started to walk up to the office and saw the child walking out of the boys bathroom.
It would not have been so bad if there was not a cloud of smoke behind him. The child was vaping in the bathroom which is against

In the past couple of days I have went to 3 different school to observe and interview teachers about their assessment tools. I interviewed both preschool
and kindergarten teachers. The schools I had visited were Crocus Academy, Gutermuth Elementary, and Auburndale Elementary.
The first school that I went to was Crocus Academy. At Crocus Academy I interviewed Ms. Amber. Ms. Amber went to Elizabethtown Community
Technical College as well. Amber teaches a preschool class at Crocus. She walks around the room while the children do their activities. When needed
she will stop and help the kids or correct them on their work. Amber is always interacting with the kids to keep their focus throughout the day. Crocus
Academy has their own curriculum that they go by. It is something new every week. Teachers at Crocus Academy all use a preschool checklist for

This school is also located in Louisville, Kentucky. I interviewed Mrs. Brittany Dolak. She has been teaching kindergarten for 5 years. She has
ages 5 to 7 in her current class. When circulating the room during class time she keeps mental notes and helps students with work. If a student had
done a problem or activity wrong she works with them to fix I then instead of waiting until they are completely finished and going back to fix it.
Mrs. Dolak uses district assessments such as Brigance and Mapp testing. She also uses the unit assessments for Journeys (writing) and Kindermath.
Mrs. Dolak uses anecdotal notes and checklist to see what the children have mastered and what still needs worked on. With the math she does pre and
post checks that are provided by Kindermath. Each student has their own commutative files for math and then a portfolio for their writing. Since she
also works for a Jefferson County Public School her parent/teacher conferences happen twice a year. Dolak also provides conferences with parents as
needed for the individual child's

Classroom Observation
I use to believe that being a teacher was going to be eight hours of teaching and being with children. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career
choice out there for me. After viewing the students of all ages and levels, I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is an unknown side to the
world that can only be seen when inside a classroom. Watching the students have made me realize that being a teacher will carry some difficulties.
Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside.

The teachers made the room feel welcoming to the students. The teacher placed pillows, plants, and posters around the room to make the room more
inviting. The students seem to love the room and teacher. In the intermediate school, the classrooms had only a minor difference from the
elementary. The teacher had her classroom set up in groups and also had the safe feeling to it.
The only difference was that both teachers I observed had different college information placed in their rooms. Both teachers had college posters and
memorabilia around the room. I felt that the teachers were sending a positive message about furthering her student's information. In the middle school
however, students sat two to a table. The room felt bland without having any posters or decorations of any kind. The room did not have the warm
inviting feeling to it as did the elementary and intermediate schools. In high school, the room had the same uninviting feeling to it. The students in the
classroom sat at a desk all to themselves. They were placed in rows making it hard for any talking to occur. The room had no posters and no
decorations of any sort. As the ages of the students grew, I noticed the rooms changed with them. While in elementary school, teachers made their
rooms inviting. Teachers wanted to get their students to feel welcome. However in high school, students did not have the same

Importance Of Classroom Observation
Physically, the room was a safe learning environment. The evacuation procedures were posted clearly by the door, two lab safety posters were
posted one by the storage room facing the students and the other on the cabinets in the classroom, no physical damage was present, there were
enough chairs and desks for every student, and book bags were stored neatly underneath the student's desk. Strategic placement of two desks
together, to create a block of four allowed students more room to navigate the classroom. On M.'s desk, there was three rolls of tickets, each a
different color, that referred to either bonus points on a quiz, bonus points on a test, or a homework pass in which a student needed five of a pink
ticket. A system was in place for students to leave class without interrupting as a bathroom pass and signā€“out log was placed on the front table by the
door.
Evidence of a well structured lesson was observed during this observation. During the preā€“observation meeting, M. displayed her plan book which
referenced previous lessons and old test and quiz scores to see student data. It also allowed M. to see where she need to strengthen aspects of her
lessons for this unit. The students will be introduced to a new unit from Wednesday. Students have been previously learning about the forces of gravity
and the earth's gravitational pull on the moon and this week they are going to be learning about how the moon has a gravitational pull on the earth and
how that impacts our tides

Essay on Classroom Observation Report
I. Introduction
In this document, I will describe a teacher and her students in an observation I did in a false beginner English as Second Language (ESL) class at the
University of Texas. The purpose of this report is to reflect on the teacher's teaching strategies and class environment in relation with what I have
learned in my Teaching Methods class. Throughout this paper, a variety of students' and teacher's behavior will be discussed that will be analyzed in
the reflection section.
II. Before the Observation
After I arranged a day and time to go observe the ESL teacher, she asked me if we could meet a few minutes before the class to give me a brief

Students are supposed to tell the teacher how do they know if the statement is true or false (10 minutes). o After that, the teacher goes over some
vocabulary words that were in the workbook that they were using. She then asks: "what's the word that means a part of the body that we use to smell?"
students respond: "nose". " What's a word that means a connection to people and ideas?" Students' respond: "relationship". o All students exchange
language by comparing their answers with each other and checking their work. o Teacher tells students to write their answer for the questions
presented in their books. o Teacher explains a group of three students who were struggling how to figure out the answer by telling them a strategy.
Teacher also repeats vocabulary words so that students improve their pronunciation. o Once the students finish their answers, one student writes his
answers on the board and the rest of the students check their own answer to see if they were correct. o There was one instance where the teacher
had to stop the girl who was writing the answers on the board to explain the word "ones". The teacher explains that in this case it's OK to have
"ones" as a plural word because it refers to a pronoun. She then asks the students to tell her other pronouns and she writes them on the board while the
students actively participate. o Teacher shows a Chinese fan and she asks: "Do you

A Wise Man Once Told Me As A Teacher
A wise man once told me, "For there to be change, there must be conflict." In my first few years as a teacher, I encountered a great deal of growth
experiences. Ruminating on those early years teaching reminded me of an Oscar Wilde quote, "Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing."
Looking back on those early days I have to laugh at my ignorance. Luckily, ambition coupled along with initiative motivated me to seek out assistance
from colleagues rather than teacher orientation program. Assistant Principal (Lawrence Smallwood) guided me through the treacherous world of middle
school in the South Bronx. Lawrence provided me with guidance I did not receive at our school's teacher orientation. Furthermore, teacher orientation
in Bronx consisted of three aspects, do not inflict physical harm on child, show up to work, and do not quit within before the end of the year.
Additionally, the concept of mentorship for new teachers did not grace the lips of my school leader during the early millennium.
Harking back to the words of my first self selective (Lawrence Smallwood) mentor, "Thoroughly think before you actions when you come up against a
difficult student.
Before you act on your emotions call me to your room. Eventually, all teachers confront periods of frustration at one point in their career. Expressing
frustration is necessary to reflect and make adjustments in the educational setting." However, legions of teachers hired at the same time as me failed to

of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with "hello Ms. Flournoy". It made my day to see all of

Lawrence also started a lesson using an active board by having sample problems on it and students were called on random to answer the questions.
The students seemed to respond to the lesson very well. There were some students who decided to have their own conversation instead of doing their
lesson so Mrs. Lawrence call on the students to get their attention; however , they did not respond so she politely walked over to the group and said
something to them and they stop talking completely. For the most part these students looked like they were having fun while learning. Many were
helping each other count while some were holding up fingers. After this hour and a half of observation, I wanted to interview Mrs. Lawrence

Teacher Interview on Lesson Planning
Theresa: I would like to know what format you use for planning your lessons?
Mrs. Lawrence: At our school there is no format; however, they must include certain things like objectives, materials/resources, hooks, etc.
Theresa: So how then do you decide what you are going to teach?
Mrs. Lawrence: We have a curriculum
Theresa: How do start off by planning a lesson and where do you start?
Mrs. Lawrence: When planning a lesson, I start with the objective. What is it I am supposed to be cover. Once I know, I start with a hook. I access
their prior knowledge then I move on with either an example or model. All along I ask questions to make sure the students

Evaluation And Observation Of A Teacher Essay
As a teacher, you have the responsibility to ensure that students are absorbing information presented and observation is a vital aspect to this. The
purpose of teachers is fundamentally the same as leaders, to provide direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission, in this case
to educate. One goal of teacher supervision is instructional improvement. This perspective is reinforced when Nolan and Hoover (2008) wrote "the
purpose of supervision is to promote individual teacher growth beyond the teacher's current level of performance" (p. 8). Supervision is more involved
than just an evaluation and observation of a teacher 's practice. Supervision, as perceived by administrators, is a multiā€“faceted area with many
responsibilities and many variables within any given daily situation. If we view supervision as a service, it is difficult to see how supervisors can
maintain rapport with teachers if teachers perceive them as people who control their destinies. For supervision to be successful, teachers want, or wish
for the services of the supervisor and value the trusting relationship that exists between them. Teachers need to feel the supervisor is there to serve
them and to help them become more effective teachers (Olivia and Pawlas, 2004). During the preā€“observation conference, I made sure that the meeting
was a joint reflective effort and was conversational in nature. Going to each of their classroom, I found the atmosphere was upbeat and I expressed my

Observation Of Observing A Teacher
I had the privilege of observing a teacher at my church preā€“k classroom on Wednesday the 6th of December 2017. Ms. Janet is a teacher at Shiloh

was greeted and given a sit by the corner of the classroom. She gets her students up for physical warm up, they all went to stand on their assigned spot
for their daily routine.
Ms. Janet play "Ants in my Pants CD" for her students, it was an action Cd, whereby they will follow as the musical song in going on. She has a
whistle blower in her mouth, she blows it whenever she wants the student to start or stop what they are doing. The warm lasted for 30 minutes and they
all went to their table to sit.
Ms. Janet distributed a plain sheet of paper for all the student and put a bowl of pencils and crayons on each table. Has she walked round each table, I
had the awareness of the students changing their sit and peering up with their group. The students respond to her very well and they get along with her.
Listen to her during activity time and work together with their group without any disturbance. Before the activity begins, she showed the students what
she is expecting from them at the end of the activity. She was very calm and use different methods of teaching her students.
I noticed, she was moving around each table to ask them if they need any help for her, and ask one or two questions on

SOM Teacher Observation
After completing the SOLOM teacher observation assignment I received great information about where my student stands and what areas he has
room for improvements so that I can better his learning. My student has great comprehension skills. This is definitely his strongest skill out of the
other four. He understood all directions given to him. He did have trouble understanding one word on his quiz so he asked his teachers for help.
Under comprehension, I would give him a 4. He was able to understand what the teacher was saying and had no trouble on neither his quiz or test. If
he was able to comprehend his quiz fully I would have given him a 5.
One area where my student struggle was fluency. During the class, he asked a question and he had trouble making a complete sentence. I gave my

He only missed 4 out of 10 questions on his vocabulary test. I would rate his vocabulary skills at a 3. The only reason why I gave my student a 3 and
not a 4 is because he still struggled to understand some of the vocabularies that was on the quiz and struggled using the right words in his conversations.
His pronunciation is definitely one of the biggest areas for improvements. I would rate my student at a 2 under pronunciation because at times it is
very hard to understand him. There are certain sounds that he picks up right away and knows how to use it in a sentence. He is still able to say what
is on his mind and you are still able to understand what he is saying; it is just difficult at times to understand him.
Grammar is another area where my student did well at. After looking over his journal writing for the day there were very few little mistakes. The
teacher said that she is amazed at how well he can write for how long he has been in school in the US. I would rate his grammar score at 4. There were
still some errors in his writing but overall did really

Pre-K3 Classroom Conflict

  • 1. Pre-K3 Teacher Observation I interviewed Dr. Johnson who is an administrator at AW Brown Fellowship Charter School. We discussed a conflict she encountered with the pre ā€“K 3 teacher and her teacher assistant (TA). The preā€“K 3 teacher was a returning teacher. She had done an outstanding job with the 3 year olds the previous year. Everyone was impressed on how well she had done being a first year teaching. The TA was a new hire, her first year teaching. The pre ā€“K3 teacher and her TA did not see eye to eye. As a result the instruction was not quality instruction, transition with the students was a disaster and classroom management was not good "it was like a zoo" said Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson, after observing the class a few times, met with the preā€“K3 teacher and inquired what the problem was. The preā€“K3 teacher told her she was not getting the support she needed from her TA. Dr....show more content... Johnson then gave her two weeks to implement what she had learned. To her surprise still no improvement. She then had a meeting with the TA about the situation. The TA blamed the pre k3 teacher. She said that the teacher isn't doing what she is supposed to do. Dr. Johnson notices that there was no communication between the two teachers. As a result the students were not learning and behavior issues increased. She then had the teacher shadow another preā€“K3 class for three days and take notes. She was hoping that they would both find their role and work together. She then gave her two weeks to implement what she observed. At the end of two weeks still no success. The student's behavior was not improving and the teachers were not speaking to each other. Finally, Dr. Johnson met with them both together to discuss the matter. She put them on a weekly goal setting plan and met with them every week to check success. She made sure that they were sending home the discipline forms to parents informing them of their child's behavior. Making sure parents were aware of problems with their child to get their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Classroom Observation I had the pleasure of observing a classroom containing kindergarteners through second graders. In these classes I observed two students. One male one female. They had a variety of different traits and displayed skills to provide information of their development. Each of these children was at different stage of their development. I also visited a special needs classroom. They had a variety of traits that showed their development as well. They differ from the other students I observed. Average school aged children gain the ability to cut straight lines and cut out shapes with scissors. They usually have a noticeable preference for the right or left hand. They are able to participate more in self care by brushing their own teeth and, for the...show more content... She couldn't cut straight or even stay in the lines of her picture. She had a hard time creating the project. She was however very good at memorizing everything she needed to for her project. Socially she was actively talking to other students and would even try to help them memorize the material. She was very polite and friendly. These observations were just a few of the many students in the classroom. Each of them had displayed a variety of traits but I choose these four to provide examples of development in early children in the school setting. Many excelled socially, but others had trouble. Many were showing great physical development, but many didn't. All children develop at different speeds. But these are just a few examples I observed. I hope to continue my observations in my own time and one day teach these children so I can watch them grow and develop. I love children and observing them is a great Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Teacher Interview And Observation Essay For my teacher interview and observation, I observed and interviewed Mrs. Jackie Tosh. She is a 3rd grade teacher and has 24 students in her class. Mrs. Tosh graduated from ESU; she obtained her Bachelors in 2004 and her Masters in 2010. Mrs. Tosh plans and prepares for her classes three days in advance, with her team. They come up with objectives and decide how they will accomplish each of them. The team then sits down again to see where they are at and to discuss if there is anything they need to cover again. The Pa. Preā€“Kā€“12 Academic Standards are incorporated into their planning. The teachers each receive a checklist to make sure all academic standards are covered before PSSA's start. Age and/ or related characteristics of students are also discussed during their planning periods. Mrs. Tosh mentioned that she does have learning goals for a student with individual needs. This student has a gifted IEP. The student requires more challenging work and enrichment services. For example, if other students receive a multipleā€“choice problem, this student may receive an openā€“ended problem. This student may also be graded harder, because the student has higher expectations. There are various resources, materials, technology and activities to engage students in meaningful ways, based on the instructional goals. There are many posters hanging on the walls, and a lot of technology throughout the room as well. I observed elements of effective classroom management; I observed from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Classroom Observation Properly conducted classroom observation is a powerful tool in the continuing professional development of teachers. The revised performance management arrangement for teachers, which came into force on 1 September, 2007, clearly set the expectation that classroom observations are to be developmental in nature and multiā€“purpose in usage. The Education ( School Teacher Performance Management) Regulations 2006 state that the total period of classroom observation allowed per performance management cycle should not exceed three hours and, in many cases, will be less, depending on individual circumstances. The performance management regulations require that classroom observation, and the performance management cycle, should...show more content... Classroom Research and Second Language Development:ā€“ The success of a course of language studies in a classroomis judged in terms of the product, that is, the learners' terminal proficiency. To do this a number of tests and examinations are available which measure that proficiency. However, the examinations themselves can never inform us of the role that classroom work played in the scores obtained. In the classroom interaction occurs interactionn between teachers, learners and materials. This is the essential element of the classroom. An important step in the classroom is the image that the observer presents. Sometimes, no doubt, observers are perceived, as Rosen vividly puts it, as ' sinister figures in the wings, faintly contemptuous, armed with the paraphernalia of expertise and tapping ominously their research findings.' Such an image would be totally incompatible with ethnographic research which crucially depends on a relationship of trust. If the classroom ethnographer is regarded as an evaluator or inspector, the entire enterprise becomes impossible. This is of central importance to Classroom Research. Neutrality in Classroom Research means studying the interaction as it occurs in the context, from the perspective of those that are being studied. This can be done through participant observation or nonā€“participant Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay Classroom Teacher Observation Report A.Evaluation Form or Observation Protocol The evaluation form that was used to evaluate a classroom teacher's performance is a rubric used by the school district (Hillsborough County Public Schools, 2012). A1. Performance Factors The teacher was rated using a rubric with specific criteria in four domains including planning and preparation, the classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities (Hillsborough County Public Schools, 2012). Within each of these domains are components which are the performance factors that are relevant to classroom teachers. In domain one the components include: demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, demonstrating knowledge of students, setting instructional outcomes,...show more content... When the teacher was talking about how the students would do during the lesson, she did reflect that there were some that would grasp the concept easily, but others that were still having a difficult time with identifying letters and sounds so would struggle with this lesson. I immediately thought that it might be effective to incorporate differentiated instruction which was not mentioned during the preā€“conference. The teacher planned a variety of activities such as songs, word card and letter match, and center activities. When I listened to the teacher describe the lesson, I noticed there was a lack of text being included. I know that best practice is to teach phonicsā€“based skills within text, so this was a concern for me. Reflecting on the preā€“conference I know that the teacher does use data to show that her students need the skills, but plans lessons based on the whole group. This is a new teacher in the district, and she is still trying to learn the curriculum and the Common Core foundational skills. She seems to be struggling on how to integrate the skills into the daily reading block. C.Completed Evaluation Form The results of the observation are attached. The areas that were rated are marked with a red letter X. D1. • 6. Teachers are aware of what they should do in the classroom when teaching young children. Teachers should provide opportunities to develop positive dispositions toward learning when working with young children to make sure they are using their knowledge and skills. Teaching young children, the skills that need to learn about is the big key of understanding what the information that you will need when you are assessing the young children. In this paper, the reader will read about observation and documentation as assessment and why is it important? The reader will also read about the difference between looking at and authentically or genuinely observing a child, the types of documentation, two types of documentation that relate how teachers use the documentation in the classroom and how documentations would be useful as assessments. Observation is something that educators do carefully to gain information about young children. Documentation is the process of collecting evidence that serves as a record. When teachers observe the young children, it provides the information that the teachers need to build relationships with individual children and enable them to be successful learners. The best way the teachers should learn about children by carefully watching them, listening to them and studying their work. When the teachers are watching and listening to children helps us understand what they are feeling, learning and thinking. Observation is an excellent way to track children's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Observation In The Math Classroom Observations for Jose took place on his science and math classrooms respectively. At the beginning of the class, the teacher asked a question to the group, Jose raised his hand to answer. He remained quiet on his desk while teacher explained the lesson in detail to the whole class. During the rest of the class, he remained seated on his desk and participated in the discussion at the proper time. The teacher showed a video to the class and asked some questions, most of the class tried to answer them, but Jose didn't seem interested as he was with his head down on his arms. Next Day during the math period, students were working in small groups. Jose actively participated in the class discussion. He reviewed his paperwork with his peers and asked a few questions to the teacher's assistant. Jose followed the teacher commands until the class finished. During the interview process, Jose mentioned that his favorite subjects were reading and science, conversely the subject that gives him most trouble is English because kids in the class laugh at him. Jose thinks that learning is natural for him and he can complete assigned works but doesn't feel being as smart as the other students. When with his friends, he likes to hang out, play games and soccer. About his other classmates, he stated not getting along with them because they are always pushing or tickling him. Jose reported having no problems with the teachers or at school in general. On weekends, he usually enjoys of playing with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay On Classroom Observation Observing in classrooms provide future teachers many opportunities to gain valuable experience in a real classroom. I completed my observation hours at two schools, Sandlick Elementary and L.F. Addington Middle school. All the teachers I observed were very nice and helped me in any way they could. Because I observed at two schools I was able to see the difference in the approach and learning of material from elementary to middle school. I have gained valuable information from observing, which will enable me to teach my future students proficiently and effectively. While observing at Sandlick Elementary school I was placed with Mrs. Robin Belcher in the third grade. I observed Mrs. Belcher's classroom at a critical time, as they were preparing to take the Benchmark test. I observed Mrs. Belcher for three consecutive days two of which were spent reviewing for the upcoming test. Mrs. Belcher used worksheets to review previously covered material. While observing the third grade classroom, I was able to provide one on one help for some students. Mrs. Belcher had three to five students in her classroom who had implemented Individualized Education Plans. Mrs. Belcher primarily allowed me to work with her special needs students. I worked with one student in particular on understanding the meaning of the vocabulary words that were covered. To help the student, I read all the definitions to her and then asked her to tell me each word's meaning. I also sat with one student while she Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Reflective Essay on Classroom Observation Danielle Moeller Professor Schilling Lit Block 4ā€“22ā€“07 Observation Reflection As I walked into the classroom for my first day of observations, I was greeted with a warm "Hello!" In fact, each time that I entered a new classroom I was given the same greeting. All of the teachers were more than happy to be helping a future educator by letting me observe their teaching styles and learn new techniques to use. Through spending time in various classrooms, I have gained valuable information that I will take with me into student teaching and my future classroom. Many of the things that we have talked about in class were illustrated for me in the classrooms that I visited. The most prominent of them was the use of word walls. Word walls are a list...show more content... For one reading aloud lesson, the teacher used the "popcorn reading" strategy. She did most of the reading, but every once in a while she picked one of the students to take over. I think that this was a great way to handle the book that they were reading because there was some difficult vocabulary in the section that they read that day. This style helped me to realize that even though they are in 4 th grade, the students do not have to be responsible for all of the reading all of the time. It is a good thing to give them a break every so often and just let them enjoy the story through following along. However, I did like that she would stop about every other paragraph and ask questions about tough vocabulary and what was happening in the story. This is a great way to make sure that the students were really following along and not staring at the floor or off into space. She also was able to insert a minilesson review on using context clues to figure out the meaning of an unknown word. Since she knew which students would be comfortable reading the material in front of the whole class and which would not, the teacher was able to choose the confident readers to do the reading aloud and have the others answer the questions. With buddy reading, I think that it is a great way for a strong reader to help a struggling reader. As a class read their material in pairs, I heard one little girl encourage her partner who was struggling with some of the

  • 11. Classroom Observation Essay As a teacher being creative and thinking outside the box is crucial in connecting with your students. After observing at Suffern High School on October tenth and twelfth, it gave me a new perspective on how different students learn. I sat in on Mr. William Delaneys inclusion classes that ranged from grades nine to twelve. Even though my focus is childhood education, it is very important to see the outcome teachers throughout the years made on the students. Getting a better insight on how students learn and think will help me for when I get into the classroom as well. Every student is unique in their own way, and that is what makes teaching so special and exciting. During my first half hour observing this class it was quite diverse. There...show more content... The look in his eyes that was unreal, he felt so accomplished and thanked Mr. Delaney for helping him stay positive. Observing high school is completely different then elementary school. Mr. Delaney had an off period where he then started prepping for the next class. His prep is not the same as a main stream class. He needed to print out every one of their IEP and 504, so he can go over them with each student. Mr. Delaney feels that most children do not even know why they are placed in the class and do not know what their goals are. He stressed that when I become a teacher to sit with each student individually and set their own goals as well as the ones stated on their documents. Mr. Delaney, also spoke to the students core teachers to see how they were doing and what they needed to work on. I think staying in contact with their other teachers is important since as a high school teacher you do not see them every period. The fourth hour I was observing, the teacher was faced with tough decisions. As the class started he realized one child was not in the classroom, who he had seen earlier in the day. Mr. Delaney then started to walk up to the office and saw the child walking out of the boys bathroom. It would not have been so bad if there was not a cloud of smoke behind him. The child was vaping in the bathroom which is against Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Teacher Observation Paper In the past couple of days I have went to 3 different school to observe and interview teachers about their assessment tools. I interviewed both preschool and kindergarten teachers. The schools I had visited were Crocus Academy, Gutermuth Elementary, and Auburndale Elementary. The first school that I went to was Crocus Academy. At Crocus Academy I interviewed Ms. Amber. Ms. Amber went to Elizabethtown Community Technical College as well. Amber teaches a preschool class at Crocus. She walks around the room while the children do their activities. When needed she will stop and help the kids or correct them on their work. Amber is always interacting with the kids to keep their focus throughout the day. Crocus Academy has their own curriculum that they go by. It is something new every week. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career choice out there for me. After viewing the students of all ages and levels, I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is an unknown side to the world that can only be seen when inside a classroom. Watching the students have made me realize that being a teacher will carry some difficulties. In the intermediate school, the classrooms had only a minor difference from the elementary. The teacher had her classroom set up in groups and also had the safe feeling to it. The only difference was that both teachers I observed had different college information placed in their rooms. Both teachers had college posters and memorabilia around the room. I felt that the teachers were sending a positive message about furthering her student's information. In the middle school however, students sat two to a table. The room felt bland without having any posters or decorations of any kind. The room did not have the warm inviting feeling to it as did the elementary and intermediate schools. In high school, the room had the same uninviting feeling to it. The students in the classroom sat at a desk all to themselves. They were placed in rows making it hard for any talking to occur. The room had no posters and no decorations of any sort. As the ages of the students grew, I noticed the rooms changed with them. While in elementary school, teachers made their rooms inviting. Teachers wanted to get their students to feel welcome. However in high school, students did not have the same Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Importance Of Classroom Observation Physically, the room was a safe learning environment. The evacuation procedures were posted clearly by the door, two lab safety posters were posted one by the storage room facing the students and the other on the cabinets in the classroom, no physical damage was present, there were enough chairs and desks for every student, and book bags were stored neatly underneath the student's desk. Strategic placement of two desks together, to create a block of four allowed students more room to navigate the classroom. On M.'s desk, there was three rolls of tickets, each a different color, that referred to either bonus points on a quiz, bonus points on a test, or a homework pass in which a student needed five of a pink ticket. A system was in place for students to leave class without interrupting as a bathroom pass and signā€“out log was placed on the front table by the door. Evidence of a well structured lesson was observed during this observation. During the preā€“observation meeting, M. displayed her plan book which referenced previous lessons and old test and quiz scores to see student data. It also allowed M. to see where she need to strengthen aspects of her lessons for this unit. The students will be introduced to a new unit from Wednesday. Students have been previously learning about the forces of gravity and the earth's gravitational pull on the moon and this week they are going to be learning about how the moon has a gravitational pull on the earth and how that impacts our tides Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay on Classroom Observation Report I. Introduction In this document, I will describe a teacher and her students in an observation I did in a false beginner English as Second Language (ESL) class at the University of Texas. The purpose of this report is to reflect on the teacher's teaching strategies and class environment in relation with what I have learned in my Teaching Methods class. Throughout this paper, a variety of students' and teacher's behavior will be discussed that will be analyzed in the reflection section. II. Before the Observation After I arranged a day and time to go observe the ESL teacher, she asked me if we could meet a few minutes before the class to give me a brief overview about the class. We discussed class size and level;...show more content... Students are supposed to tell the teacher how do they know if the statement is true or false (10 minutes). o After that, the teacher goes over some vocabulary words that were in the workbook that they were using. She then asks: "what's the word that means a part of the body that we use to smell?" students respond: "nose". " What's a word that means a connection to people and ideas?" Students' respond: "relationship". o All students exchange language by comparing their answers with each other and checking their work. o Teacher tells students to write their answer for the questions presented in their books. o Teacher explains a group of three students who were struggling how to figure out the answer by telling them a strategy. Teacher also repeats vocabulary words so that students improve their pronunciation. o Once the students finish their answers, one student writes his answers on the board and the rest of the students check their own answer to see if they were correct. o There was one instance where the teacher had to stop the girl who was writing the answers on the board to explain the word "ones". The teacher explains that in this case it's OK to have "ones" as a plural word because it refers to a pronoun. She then asks the students to tell her other pronouns and she writes them on the board while the students actively participate. o Teacher shows a Chinese fan and she asks: "Do you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. A Wise Man Once Told Me As A Teacher A wise man once told me, "For there to be change, there must be conflict." In my first few years as a teacher, I encountered a great deal of growth experiences. Ruminating on those early years teaching reminded me of an Oscar Wilde quote, "Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing." Looking back on those early days I have to laugh at my ignorance. Luckily, ambition coupled along with initiative motivated me to seek out assistance from colleagues rather than teacher orientation program. Assistant Principal (Lawrence Smallwood) guided me through the treacherous world of middle school in the South Bronx. Lawrence provided me with guidance I did not receive at our school's teacher orientation. Furthermore, teacher orientation in Bronx consisted of three aspects, do not inflict physical harm on child, show up to work, and do not quit within before the end of the year. Additionally, the concept of mentorship for new teachers did not grace the lips of my school leader during the early millennium. Harking back to the words of my first self selective (Lawrence Smallwood) mentor, "Thoroughly think before you actions when you come up against a difficult student. Before you act on your emotions call me to your room. Eventually, all teachers confront periods of frustration at one point in their career. Expressing frustration is necessary to reflect and make adjustments in the educational setting." However, legions of teachers hired at the same time as me failed to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Teacher Interview and Observation Paper Teacher Interview and Observation on Lesson Implementation Theresa Flournoy University of Phoenix/Axia College EDU 310 At 1:00 p.m. I entered into Evoline C. West Elementary school on Thursday, July 12 2012 for an interview with Mrs. Yolanda Lawrence. As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by Mrs. Lawrence, the head teacher in this classroom. Mrs. Lawrence has no assistant at this present because of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with "hello Ms. Flournoy". It made my day to see all of those smiley faces greeting me. This was a 2nd grade classroom which consisted of 17 students of which 8 were girls and 9 were boys. This interview and observation was a total of 2...show more content... Lawrence also started a lesson using an active board by having sample problems on it and students were called on random to answer the questions. The students seemed to respond to the lesson very well. There were some students who decided to have their own conversation instead of doing their lesson so Mrs. Lawrence call on the students to get their attention; however , they did not respond so she politely walked over to the group and said something to them and they stop talking completely. For the most part these students looked like they were having fun while learning. Many were helping each other count while some were holding up fingers. After this hour and a half of observation, I wanted to interview Mrs. Lawrence concerning on lesson plan development. Teacher Interview on Lesson Planning Theresa: I would like to know what format you use for planning your lessons? Mrs. Lawrence: At our school there is no format; however, they must include certain things like objectives, materials/resources, hooks, etc. Theresa: So how then do you decide what you are going to teach? Mrs. Lawrence: We have a curriculum Theresa: How do start off by planning a lesson and where do you start? Mrs. Lawrence: When planning a lesson, I start with the objective. What is it I am supposed to be cover. Once I know, I start with a hook. I access their prior knowledge then I move on with either an example or model. All along I ask questions to make sure the students

  • 19. Evaluation And Observation Of A Teacher Essay As a teacher, you have the responsibility to ensure that students are absorbing information presented and observation is a vital aspect to this. The purpose of teachers is fundamentally the same as leaders, to provide direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission, in this case to educate. One goal of teacher supervision is instructional improvement. This perspective is reinforced when Nolan and Hoover (2008) wrote "the purpose of supervision is to promote individual teacher growth beyond the teacher's current level of performance" (p. 8). Supervision is more involved than just an evaluation and observation of a teacher 's practice. Supervision, as perceived by administrators, is a multiā€“faceted area with many responsibilities and many variables within any given daily situation. If we view supervision as a service, it is difficult to see how supervisors can maintain rapport with teachers if teachers perceive them as people who control their destinies. For supervision to be successful, teachers want, or wish for the services of the supervisor and value the trusting relationship that exists between them. Teachers need to feel the supervisor is there to serve them and to help them become more effective teachers (Olivia and Pawlas, 2004). During the preā€“observation conference, I made sure that the meeting was a joint reflective effort and was conversational in nature. Going to each of their classroom, I found the atmosphere was upbeat and I expressed my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Observation Of Observing A Teacher I had the privilege of observing a teacher at my church preā€“k classroom on Wednesday the 6th of December 2017. Ms. Janet is a teacher at Shiloh Elementary and she always have her lesson for her classroom ready and presented in a well manner. I introduced myself to her and her classroom and was greeted and given a sit by the corner of the classroom. She gets her students up for physical warm up, they all went to stand on their assigned spot for their daily routine. Ms. Janet play "Ants in my Pants CD" for her students, it was an action Cd, whereby they will follow as the musical song in going on. She has a whistle blower in her mouth, she blows it whenever she wants the student to start or stop what they are doing. The warm lasted for 30 minutes and they all went to their table to sit. Ms. Janet distributed a plain sheet of paper for all the student and put a bowl of pencils and crayons on each table. Has she walked round each table, I had the awareness of the students changing their sit and peering up with their group. The students respond to her very well and they get along with her. Listen to her during activity time and work together with their group without any disturbance. Before the activity begins, she showed the students what she is expecting from them at the end of the activity. She was very calm and use different methods of teaching her students. I noticed, she was moving around each table to ask them if they need any help for her, and ask one or two questions on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. SOM Teacher Observation After completing the SOLOM teacher observation assignment I received great information about where my student stands and what areas he has room for improvements so that I can better his learning. My student has great comprehension skills. This is definitely his strongest skill out of the other four. He understood all directions given to him. He did have trouble understanding one word on his quiz so he asked his teachers for help. Under comprehension, I would give him a 4. He was able to understand what the teacher was saying and had no trouble on neither his quiz or test. If he was able to comprehend his quiz fully I would have given him a 5. One area where my student struggle was fluency. During the class, he asked a question and he had trouble making a complete sentence. I gave my student a...show more content... He only missed 4 out of 10 questions on his vocabulary test. I would rate his vocabulary skills at a 3. The only reason why I gave my student a 3 and not a 4 is because he still struggled to understand some of the vocabularies that was on the quiz and struggled using the right words in his conversations. His pronunciation is definitely one of the biggest areas for improvements. I would rate my student at a 2 under pronunciation because at times it is very hard to understand him. There are certain sounds that he picks up right away and knows how to use it in a sentence. He is still able to say what is on his mind and you are still able to understand what he is saying; it is just difficult at times to understand him. Grammar is another area where my student did well at. After looking over his journal writing for the day there were very few little mistakes. The teacher said that she is amazed at how well he can write for how long he has been in school in the US. I would rate his grammar score at 4. There were still some errors in his writing but overall did really Get more content on HelpWriting.net
