To support a change in culture to be more operationally focused, EDF Energy’s Hartlepool teams needed to break down the silo mentality and develop stronger relationships across the business.
1. OBJECTIVE
To support a change in culture to be more operationally focused, EDF Energy’s
Hartlepool teams needed to break down the silo mentality and develop stronger
relationships across the business. The Outward Bound®
programme supports the teams
to:
- Consider their unique contribution to the team and the impact of these contributions
on others
- Strengthen working relationships, to help the task management process and
improve performance
- Develop an action plan to ensure an operational focus on their return to work.
SOLUTION
Following a framing exercise in which delegates are asked to reflect on their current
situation, The Trust delivered a 3-day programme, consisting of:
- An initial outdoor challenge allowing the team to agree their strengths and areas for
development
- Daily review sessions to support the transfer of learning to the workplace
- A series of team-focused tasks to explore the meaning of effective communication
and the components of high performing teams.
- An action planning and peer coaching exercise to consolidate the teams’ learning.
RESULTS
- 100% of delegates better understood their individual role within the team and the
effect of this upon the wider group.
- 100% felt they had strengthened their working relationships
- 100% agreed the programme had been worthwhile to attend.
