• An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is
an aircraft without a human pilot
• UAVs are a component of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS);
which include a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of
communications between the two
• They originated mostly in military applications, their use is rapidly
expanding to commercial, scientific, recreational, agricultural, and
other applications
• Programming limitations - UAVs may not be able to compensate for
the changing battlefield environment
• Limited range - UAVs may not be able to carry as much fuel as
manned aircraft
• Loss of contact - If contact is lost with the ground station, the vehicle
may be lost
• Limitations of payload - As UAVs are typically smaller than a manned
plane, they cannot carry as large a payload
• Better batteries with longer endurance for smaller electric UAVs
• Better fuel efficiencies-along with longer endurance-for larger
platforms
• smaller, lighter, more efficient and capable sensors
• lower manufacturing, acquisition and lifecycle operations and
maintenance costs
• multi-mission capabilities like use reprogrammable sensors
• joint coalition-to reduce the number of installations and operators and
make joint operations easier
• UAV is the fastest growing segment of military aviation research and development
• UAVs make significant contributions to the war
• UAVs can be employed in heavily defended areas without risk to humans
• UAVs are smaller, lighter and easier to transport
• UAV is advancement of science and controls
• UAV cannot carry as large a payload
• UAV have programming limitations
• UAV is widely used in US army and some countries are working on it
• In future , most of the countries will have UAV in their army

  • 4. • An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot • UAVs are a component of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS); which include a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of communications between the two • They originated mostly in military applications, their use is rapidly expanding to commercial, scientific, recreational, agricultural, and other applications

  • 12. • Programming limitations - UAVs may not be able to compensate for the changing battlefield environment • Limited range - UAVs may not be able to carry as much fuel as manned aircraft • Loss of contact - If contact is lost with the ground station, the vehicle may be lost • Limitations of payload - As UAVs are typically smaller than a manned plane, they cannot carry as large a payload

  • 14. • Better batteries with longer endurance for smaller electric UAVs • Better fuel efficiencies-along with longer endurance-for larger platforms • smaller, lighter, more efficient and capable sensors • lower manufacturing, acquisition and lifecycle operations and maintenance costs • multi-mission capabilities like use reprogrammable sensors • joint coalition-to reduce the number of installations and operators and make joint operations easier
  • 15. • UAV is the fastest growing segment of military aviation research and development • UAVs make significant contributions to the war • UAVs can be employed in heavily defended areas without risk to humans • UAVs are smaller, lighter and easier to transport • UAV is advancement of science and controls • UAV cannot carry as large a payload • UAV have programming limitations • UAV is widely used in US army and some countries are working on it • In future , most of the countries will have UAV in their army
