Problem Statement:
At this moment tsunami has been struck on southern shore of India , tsunami followed by earthquake .
Government wants to develop disaster management system. Present a System Engineering based on system
Thinking .
Tsunami Management System Comprises of three main Factors:
a) Purpose of System.
b) Elements of System.
c) Interconnection and Interaction between elements of system.
1) A tsunami (pronounced su-nah-me) is a wave train, or series of waves, generated in a body of water by an
impulsive disturbance that vertically displaces the water column. Earthquakes, landslides, volcanic
eruptions, explosions, and even the impact of cosmic bodies, such as meteorites, can generate tsunamis.
Tsunamis can savagely attack coastlines, causing devastating property damage and loss of life.
2) To Design a system that will alert a emergency climatic and physical change on earth surface and under
ocean .
3) To Manage safely people from damage caused by tsunami and earthquake.
4) To Carry out rescue and rehabilitation operations.
5) To Recover Casualties from damage sites .
6) To provide proper medication ,food and water service to people .
1) Sensing Unit:
Seismic wave detection Sensors For Earthquake and Tsunami based on Internet of things applications.
Location of sensor could be deep ocean surface, volcanic eruption areas, earthquake prone areas etc.
2) Communication Unit:
Satellite communication is required for data transmission wirelessly and faster.
Satellite can be used for locating locations and Remote sensing Applications.
3) Data Processing and Interpretation unit:
Tsunami Disaster Management System uses Super Computer like Param-Shavak and other Indian super computer series for
climate predictions and interpretation through Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence applications.
4) Alerts Unit :
After Data Processing and Confirmation of incident data can be accessed by Stake holders like Disaster Management
Departments, NDRF,CRPF,government planing agency, Paramedical Forces, Special Forces etc to carry on disaster
management operations. Alert warining through sms to public,broadcasting on radio and television networks,internet etc.
4)Stakeholders Of System:
a) Government of India , NDRF.
b) Rescue Operations Teams.
c) Army, Navy and Airforce Paramedical forces.
d) Residents Of Seashore (India).
e) Fisherman on coast.
f) Coastal Guards.
g) State and Central Governments.
h) Mass Media and Broadcasting.
i) Government Hospitals.
5) Management Unit :
1) Tetra Pods based protection.
2) Rescue team evacuate people from tsunami affected area.
3) Food and potable water supply.
4) Hospitalization of people.
5) Recovery of casualties dead body.
6) Psychological help for people from getting out from trauma.
7) Recovery by government for infrastructural damages. Doing audits of damages caused by disaster.
8) Temporary financial help for survivors of disasters.
9) Providing Financial funds for people who lost their life to recover themselves from damages in all aspect of life.
1) System will get raw data from sensing unit .
2) Data will be Transmitted by communications system in faster way.
3) Data Processing and Interpretation will be done on basis of previous records through use of supercomputers for
predictions and interpretation.
4) Stake holders will receive live updates and continuous alerts about changes in surroundings .
5) Management System uses data for planning their rescue operations . Based on this data they can get live situation
updates without any delays and errors. Geographical barriers are eliminated.
6) Government can use this data collected for financial funding for recovery from damages.

Tsunami Disaster Management System -System Engineering

  • 2. Problem Statement: At this moment tsunami has been struck on southern shore of India , tsunami followed by earthquake . Government wants to develop disaster management system. Present a System Engineering based on system Thinking .
  • 3. Tsunami Management System Comprises of three main Factors: a) Purpose of System. b) Elements of System. c) Interconnection and Interaction between elements of system.
  • 4. 1) A tsunami (pronounced su-nah-me) is a wave train, or series of waves, generated in a body of water by an impulsive disturbance that vertically displaces the water column. Earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, explosions, and even the impact of cosmic bodies, such as meteorites, can generate tsunamis. Tsunamis can savagely attack coastlines, causing devastating property damage and loss of life. 2) To Design a system that will alert a emergency climatic and physical change on earth surface and under ocean . 3) To Manage safely people from damage caused by tsunami and earthquake. 4) To Carry out rescue and rehabilitation operations. 5) To Recover Casualties from damage sites . 6) To provide proper medication ,food and water service to people .
  • 5. 1) Sensing Unit: Seismic wave detection Sensors For Earthquake and Tsunami based on Internet of things applications. Location of sensor could be deep ocean surface, volcanic eruption areas, earthquake prone areas etc. 2) Communication Unit: Satellite communication is required for data transmission wirelessly and faster. Satellite can be used for locating locations and Remote sensing Applications. 3) Data Processing and Interpretation unit: Tsunami Disaster Management System uses Super Computer like Param-Shavak and other Indian super computer series for climate predictions and interpretation through Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence applications. 4) Alerts Unit : After Data Processing and Confirmation of incident data can be accessed by Stake holders like Disaster Management Departments, NDRF,CRPF,government planing agency, Paramedical Forces, Special Forces etc to carry on disaster management operations. Alert warining through sms to public,broadcasting on radio and television networks,internet etc.
  • 6. 4)Stakeholders Of System: a) Government of India , NDRF. b) Rescue Operations Teams. c) Army, Navy and Airforce Paramedical forces. d) Residents Of Seashore (India). e) Fisherman on coast. f) Coastal Guards. g) State and Central Governments. h) Mass Media and Broadcasting. i) Government Hospitals. 5) Management Unit : 1) Tetra Pods based protection. 2) Rescue team evacuate people from tsunami affected area. 3) Food and potable water supply. 4) Hospitalization of people. 5) Recovery of casualties dead body. 6) Psychological help for people from getting out from trauma. 7) Recovery by government for infrastructural damages. Doing audits of damages caused by disaster. 8) Temporary financial help for survivors of disasters. 9) Providing Financial funds for people who lost their life to recover themselves from damages in all aspect of life.

  • 8. 1) System will get raw data from sensing unit . 2) Data will be Transmitted by communications system in faster way. 3) Data Processing and Interpretation will be done on basis of previous records through use of supercomputers for predictions and interpretation. 4) Stake holders will receive live updates and continuous alerts about changes in surroundings . 5) Management System uses data for planning their rescue operations . Based on this data they can get live situation updates without any delays and errors. Geographical barriers are eliminated. 6) Government can use this data collected for financial funding for recovery from damages.
