2. INTRODUCTION
The Library is a building where information
materials such as books, recordings,
manuscripts, audio visuals, etc (which could
be in forms of print and non-print) are kept
for use. Its is also a collection of intellectual
materials.
The Library as a building or collection of
intellectual materials requires personnel to
effectively function.
One of such personnel is the LIBRARY
PORTER.

• The Library Porter is the personnel that
man the Library reception
• He is the first person to interact with
library users/visitors

9. THE PORTER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
The Porter’s responsibility are but not limited
to:
responsible for the opening and closing
of Library facilities, including the
setting of Security Alarms
check all people entering Library
premises and ensure that they have a
valid reason for access

practicable, damage to or removal of
Library assets by performing searches
