people in todays world of marketing.

on small and local producers on a quest to survive and stay important

8. WORD
OF MOUTH MARKETING
• I found this seminar very important to me, especially because of the timing. The
speaker taught me about, a marketing technique in detail that I could easily grasp
what he was saying. With that I was able to apply this method into my business. It is
because a very important seminar because of that reason alone.
• Why I chose this seminar: Simply because, I am really into marketing and I saw this
as an opportunity to extend my knowledge on it.
• What did I learn: I learnt about the importance of word of mouth marketing for
small business to get known and become relevant.
9. OXFAM
• Oxfam is an international confederation that operates in about 94 countries (Belgium included). They strive for a
world where people are treated equally and allowed to enjoy their rights. I liked this seminar and thought was
helpful but there was no new information gathered on my part. Coming from Africa, I have seen the effect unfair
trade has on local producers. They have a hard time negotiating with large companies on compensation on goods
they produce and more often than not they do not have much influence as these companies tend to be their only
source of income and there are very few viable alternatives. I believe Oxfam Is doing a fantastic job in bringing this
issue to light. The speaker was well spoken, engaging and a pleasure to listen to.
• Why I chose this seminar? I chose to attend this seminar because, apart from knowing about Oxfam, I was curious to
see what else I could learn about and how they carry out their operations.
• What did I learn?I didn’t really learn a lot from that seminar because from where I come from I am used to hearing
about and seeing those kind of things.
10. EVENT MANAGEMENT
• Out of all the seminars that attended, this one stood out the most. She explained everything
about the job she does in detail, the good sides, the bad sides and how to handle the
pressure of the magnitude the work brings. She has worked for many well known people
and has managed many events of great importance. She spoke very good English and she
engaged the crowd in a very interesting manner. She was very interesting to listen to and
she certainly made me think about moving into that line of work.
• Why I chose this seminar? I chose this seminar because it was eye catching to me, I have
always wanted to know about event management ad this was the perfect opportunity for me
to lean about it.
• What did I learn? I learnt a lot from this seminar, the most interesting thing I came away with
was the 10% rule, after thinking and putting this rule into practice I realized how important
this rule is and how many tragedies could be avoided by implementing that rule.
11. IDENTITY GRIDLOCK
• I found this seminar really intriguing. It opened my mind up to a different view on
public relations. In this seminar, e basically discussed how we should see public
relations in a different way. He used many examples, for example he used Volvo and
how they are known for their safety, we all know this because of public relations,
they basically give us the message they want us to see and we may eventually see it,
it all depends on how good their PR management is.The speaker was well spoken
and interesting to listen to. A very interesting seminar to attend.
• Why I chose to attend? Growing up I never fully grasped the idea and importance of
public relations, this seminar allowed me to learn further hat public relations is all
about.
• What did I learn? I learnt quite a few things, I learnt the real importance of having a
PR manager, the importance of public relations as a whole. .
12. SPORTS MANAGEMENT LECTURE
• This was a very interesting seminar for me because I am an avid Football fan. This
seminar took place in the stadium of club Bruges (Jan Breydel Stadium). This took
place where the club Bruges manager (Michel Prud’homme) holds his press
conferences. It Was a fantastic experience for me as it was a mix of my interests and
what I'm studying. He spoke on fan relationship management and how clubs build a
relationship between the club and its fans as this is a great way to improve and gain
loyal fans.
• What did I learn? I learnt about social media for sports clubs, i feel this will aid me in
the future, seeing as this is something i want to move into.
• Why I chose to attend? Due to my love for sports, it is not an opportunity i could
just let pass me by
