2. Pre-production
My audience showed in my
survey monkey that they
would prefer a more narrative
based video, therefore, I
decided to portray some sort
of narrative. In this, I
attempted to show that ‘Free
son’ is attempting to find
somewhere to ‘settle down’.
Hence why the majority of
shots is him walking around
and sitting down, and only
stays in one location right at
the end of the song.
3. My audience also
wanted to see “trees
and nature” and
“specific lighting”. This
is something I chose to
implement in my work
as it suited the most
common conventions
and it is what my
audience wanted.
4. Positive points
My piece generated an overall, quite positive
feedback, once I had re-drafted and re-shot some
parts.
Re-drafting and re-shooting:
Once I re-drafted my piece and changed where the
shots were placed, I feel that my piece was a lot
more sound. As my final shots represent my
character finally finding somewhere to be
comfortable, as it is the only shots of Free Son
looking at and sitting down, rather than the shots
before, which portray the artist moving and walking
around constantly, not able to find somewhere he
can settle.
5. Areas to improve
Upon reviewing my piece, I noticed a few
aspects where continuity could have been
improved, however, they are only subtle and
can only be noticed when pointed out. This
includes, my haircut (as it is a lot longer in
shots taken later), different glasses in some
shots, and that I haven’t had a shave in the
close-up too.
6. Possible inclusions
One thing my audience did suggest was to
include a range of different shots, and I
decided to take on this feedback, but not
entirely, as I only used close-ups once, when
the artist is singing about his lowest part of his
break-up.
They also suggested to use instruments i.e an
acoustic guitar, however, I was unable to
attain one to shoot with.
