INTERNATIONAL LEVEL :-

3. WHAT IS TRACK AND FIELD ?
Track and field is a sport which include athletics contests established on the
skills of running, jumping, and throwing.

4. THE FIRST EVER TRACK RACE :-
The ancient olympic games began in 776bc when koroibos a cook from a
near by city of eills won the stadium race ,a foot race 600feet long . ( 600 feet
is about 183 meters , nowadays tracks are 400 meters long. .

5. THE MARATHON :-
The marathon was not introduced untill the modern olympic games of 1896
in athens and was normally 26 miles long. (That is about41843 meters
long which is about the same as ours marathons today are 26.2 miles long
.)

6. TRACK AND FIELD IN THE U.S. :-
Track and field athletics in the u.S. Dates back to the 1860’s .
The interrcollegiate associantion of amateur athletics of america , the nations
first national athletics groups, held the first collegiate races in 1873 .

7. TRACK AND FIELD TODAY:-
Track and field today consist of various sports and competitors from 60m
run , 100m run , 200m run , 400m run, 800m run , 1500m run , 3000m run ,
various relays , marathons , shot put , discuss , hammer throw , javelin
throw , pole vault , and various sand pit jumping event .
There are annual track and field contests held in either america or
other countries and is a major part of the olympics .

NATIONAL LEVEL :-

9. VEDIC AGE :- The history of indian athletics was
moulded into shape by the principles of the atharva
veda. During the vedic period, sports like chariot racing,
equestrian, archery, military tactics, wrestling, weight
lifting, swimming and hunting were in vogue. In due
time, the nature and character of sports in india started
to change leaving space for the up-gradation of sports
and athletics in india.
NATIONAL HISTORY OF TRACK AND FIELD :-

10. MODERN AGE :-
While track and field has a long and storied history, it
did not gain great popularity and take off until the
1860s. In 1866, england held its first championships for
men amateurs. No financial compensation was provided
to the winners, setting precedent for the modern-day
olympics and basis for the sport.
