2. Eglantyne Jebb
She was a British social reformer,
founder of Save the Children.
Her sister, Dorothy Buxton, was an
English humanitarian, social activist and
commentator on Germany.
3. Why Save the Children?
● She is known as the “White Flame”, because of her
dedicated love for children
● During World War I, she set up fund to raise money for the
affected children in Germany, Austria- the Save the
Children Fund.
● The success of this fund let her and her sister to attempt
to set up an international movement for children.
4. Situations of Childrens in Nepal
● More than 28.5 million people live there
● 13% of girls and boys are out of school
● 36 out of 1000 children die before their 5th birthday.
● Face a challenging lifestyle as they have very poor living condition.
● Lack the most fundamental needs one can find in a modern society.
● Deal with the harsh weather especially during winter as they cannot afford
winter wears and they tend to be more prone to diseases and health issues.
● They also suffer from getting insufficient nutrients leading them to suffer from
starvation
5. Save the Children movement
● Since 1976, Save the Children organisation have extensive
programmes throughout the country.
● Poverty and political instability has taken a toll on the
Nepalese people.
● Work done in Nepal (2017) e.g. protecting 155,496 children
from harm, supporting 213,234 children in times of crisis,
providing, 1,261,691 children with a healthy start in life
and gave 1,041, 286 children vital nourishments.
6. Save the Children movement
● Work with local communities targeted at children to help
them learn and grow.
● Work at local schools to build conducive environments
● Distributed household kits to 15,836, 25,025 kitchen sets,
26,827 baby blankets, 15,615 family shelter kits
● Gave assistance to 61,295 beneficiaries in the form of
corrugated galvanised iron sheets or cash grants to
rebuild their homes
● Reached 77,250 beneficiaries who needed winter support
● Total Funds raised at more than US$60 million.
