2. Chapter I (Rationale of the Study)
The reason behind this study is to know
the history and how is it called barangay
Lahug. By knowing its origin it is also
important to include the political
background and socio-economics status
of the residents living in the said
barangay.
3. Objectives of the Study
• The objectives of this research thesis proposal of
the student are:
• 1. To know the beginning of barangay Lahug, why
it is called barangay Lahug and when it was
established.
• 2. To identify the government programs and
projects implemented in barangay Lahug.
• 3. To distinguish the politicians, officials and
influential families living in barangay
Lahug.
4. Scope and Delimitations
The study focuses on the Local and Oral
History that give emphasis on the value of
Nationalism. The scope of the study is to
conduct a short visit to a respective barangay
which the student belong. Only the history of
the barangay, sketch map, list of officials as
well as the development and projects
implementation within the barangay will be
included in the study. It delimits on the areas
of barangay which is not belong to Lahug.
5. Significance of the study
This study is deemed significant to the following group of people and individuals.
University of San Carlos (North Campus). This study will motivate the USC-NC
administrators, teachers and students to work for quality education and excellence.
School Administrators. They will be aware of the current issues, officials, programs and
projects and problems of the barangay. They will be motivated to extend help for their
community extension project.
Teachers. Should be able to share the value of nationalism to the students and to know
and understand the Philippines history both local and oral.
Researchers. They will be stimulated to make attempts to expand or replicated this study.
Advanced research studies will be pursued on the different dimensions of teaching
effectiveness.
Parents. This study will strengthen the home-school linkage since parents will become
aware of DepEd’s strengthening parent-teacher relationship. Since the purpose of this
study is to develop the research skills of the student with the aide of the parents.
Students. Generally students will show greater achievement gains when exposed to
competent teachers particularly those using the multiple learning strategies. Reading this
research work will inspire them to hope for proficient teachers over time.
6. Political Background Projects and
Programme
There are elite political people living in
barangay Lahug. Some of them are influential.
These influential persons are Cong. Raul del
Mar and Councillor Joy Young. Cong. Raul del
Mar implemented programmes like giving
assistance of burial and medicines to the less
privilige while, Joy young is the founder of
Night high classes implemented in public
schools as part of his advocacy.

Fifty-five percent of the people belong to the low class followed by forty-one
percent which is in the middle class and only four percent in the higher class.
Majority of the people living in barangay Lahug belong to low class.
9. Conclusion
Based on the analysis and results yielded
in this study, I concluded that majority of the
people living in barangay Lahug belongs to the
low class.
10. Individual Learning and
Recommendation
I have learned many things about our research
subject as well as the history of our barangay.
Since majority of the people belong to the low
class I recommended that they will continue to help
the low class people to uplift their lives by giving them
programs that could help in their everyday living. Also,
the programme that had been started like the “tambal
ni del Mar” and the “Night High Classes” in all public
schools would continue to help the less privilege
students.
