To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter to recommend Neil St-Denis, a recently graduated student from Fleming
College’s Environmental Technician (ET) program. I have known Neil since early 2013 when he
joined the program, in my capacity as his Professor and Coordinator.
It is relevant to note that Neil chose to complete the entirety of the ET program though his
previous degree meant that he would have been eligible for a semester or perhaps even a year
of exemption. This is a testament to his methodical approach and speaks to the level of
dedication he had for his studies while at Fleming.
Neil is an extremely thorough student with excellent grades and attendance. His maturity is
evident in all aspects of his work, both in-class and in assessments. His grasp of the material in
the Water Treatment and Pollution Control course related to water and wastewater treatment
is at a level only the top five percent of the class achieved. As a university graduate, Neil’s writing
skills are excellent and his dedication to learning the hands-on and technical side of our work put
him above the majority of the class in this area as well. Given the amount of group work involved
with the ET program, it is an indication of his ability to work well with others that I neither heard
any negative comments about Neil or from him about his group members.
Neil also has the benefit of being one of a few students who already has related work experience.
I am sure the work he did last summer for Environmental Fluid Solutions as an Operator and
Labourer will serve him well in this industry and put him ahead of the learning curve as compared
to other potential candidates.
Were you to offer Neil this opportunity I know you would find him to be a reliable and responsible
employee with an ability to be decisive and work independently. Please feel free to contact me
should you wish to discuss Neil’s skills and qualifications further.
