A bill introduced in Congress is referred to a committee, debated and voted on by the full House or Senate it was introduced in. If approved, it is sent to the other House and undergoes the same process. If approved by both Houses, the bill goes to the President, who can sign it into law, veto it and send it back to Congress, or do nothing and allow it to become law automatically.
