Internet Alliance recently had conducted a survey to forecast the IT Talent demand as well as the scope of the profession that would be highly demanding in 2018 by the market.
We defined the various corporate sizes with guideline below:
- Multinational Corporation (MNC) – A FDI company in Malaysia, with foreign sales are 25% or more of total sales.
- Large Local Corporation (LLC) – A public limited company in Malaysia, alternatively as “Berhad” company.
- Local Established Corporate – Above SME but not yet a public limited company.
- SME – As according to SME Corp SME definition (http://www.smecorp.gov.my/index.php/en/policies/2015-12-21-09-09-49/sme-definition)
- Startup - A newly emerged, fast-growing tech relevance company that operates under venture capital or various type of funding.
2. Introduction
As technology continues to evolve, start-up companies are blooming and the government is advocating the “Digital
Transformation” in the businesses environment, we foresee there is huge demand on IT profession by the industry in
the upcoming years.
With the interest to learn how business leaders and “IT drivers” of the corporate adapting into this fast moving tech
business environment, Internet Alliance conducted an online survey in December 2017 – January 2018, target
respondent focused on CEO/CTO/CIO/HOD of IT Department from various corporate sizes, to contribute their hiring
forecast in the survey.
We defined the various corporate sizes with guideline below:

The survey received total 105 responses. Through the survey, we observed that in general different corporate size has
similar interest and hiring patterns. However, digital readiness and aggressiveness is variant over the corporate size.
