the Short Film Festival in London, Adolescence. We are lucky to
have with us in the studio feminist critic Betty O’Donnahuge, film
critic Patrick Dank and the director of the film Natalie Kidd. The
film was highly talked about on the run up to the festival, because
of its controversial themes and experimental style. The film is a
coming of age film that follows a girls story of her transition from
adolescence to adulthood. (may put this in a different
video)Before we can start discuss we have to do a recap of what
forms and conventions there are in a film that in coming of age
genre.
So, Natalie Kidd, you wrote this film with your friend and collegue
Beth Eves, and then went on to direct it yourself, what I’d be
really interested to know, is how this film is new to the genre? Or
is it a more conventional approach to a coming of age film?
I am to understand your main character, and only character was a
female, also causing controversy as some critics it was nominated
simply to show representation of females in the industry
