Enhancing parents involvement in school education
ERASMUS+ PROJECT 2020-1-SE01-KA201-077978
Parents and families have the most direct and lasting impact on children’s learning
and development. Parents play a vital role in their child’s cognitive, social and
emotional development by engaging as “learning” partners from the earliest age,
during the school years and into youth. Increasing the familiarity of parents with
school activities can trigger more positive expectations about their children’s
education. (EQUITY AND QUALITY IN EDUCATION: SUPPORTING DISADVANTAGED
STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS - © OECD 2012).
Many parents from disadvantaged groups face problems by supporting the children’s
learning and development due to the fear of being judged by school staff and often
due to their personal negative experiences with school or lack of knowledge on the
school system. The main problem that we have identified and intend to address
stands in the fact that involvement and participation of the parents and carers are
scarcely or not sufficiently acknowledged as a key com ponent contributing to the
quality of the school education. That is why it is very important to reduce disparities
in accessing and engaging with education and increase equality and social inclusion to
address parent’s engagement in their children’s education.
The Tips & Tricks to forster a parent-student relationship at home presented in this
newsletter aim at supporting parents in supporting their childrens development and
education.

home?
The originally planned IO3: Empowering parents - guide to foster a parent-student relationship at home are made
as a userfriendly PowerPoint presentation that easily can be made to a paper folder. The name is changed to Tips
& Tricks to forster a parent–student relationship at home.
The Tips & Tricks cover a range of important topics, as the sample of pictures below show. Each topic are
presented visually by a number of pictures and raise a number of questions. We hope these many questions will
help many parents to support their children’s development at school and in life in general.

R R Enhancing parents involvement in school education ERASMUS+ PROJECT 2020-1-SE01-KA201-077978 Parents and families have the most direct and lasting impact on children’s learning and development. Parents play a vital role in their child’s cognitive, social and emotional development by engaging as “learning” partners from the earliest age, during the school years and into youth. Increasing the familiarity of parents with school activities can trigger more positive expectations about their children’s education. (EQUITY AND QUALITY IN EDUCATION: SUPPORTING DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS - © OECD 2012). Many parents from disadvantaged groups face problems by supporting the children’s learning and development due to the fear of being judged by school staff and often due to their personal negative experiences with school or lack of knowledge on the school system. The main problem that we have identified and intend to address stands in the fact that involvement and participation of the parents and carers are scarcely or not sufficiently acknowledged as a key com ponent contributing to the quality of the school education. That is why it is very important to reduce disparities in accessing and engaging with education and increase equality and social inclusion to address parent’s engagement in their children’s education. The Tips & Tricks to forster a parent-student relationship at home presented in this newsletter aim at supporting parents in supporting their childrens development and education.   • 2. IO3: Empowering parents – a guide to foster a parent-student relationship at home? The originally planned IO3: Empowering parents - guide to foster a parent-student relationship at home are made as a userfriendly PowerPoint presentation that easily can be made to a paper folder. The name is changed to Tips & Tricks to forster a parent–student relationship at home. The Tips & Tricks cover a range of important topics, as the sample of pictures below show. Each topic are presented visually by a number of pictures and raise a number of questions. We hope these many questions will help many parents to support their children’s development at school and in life in general.
