In this position I was reporting to the Chairman and was responsible for the overall IT operations
of the Bank as well as for Policy formulation with regard to IT architecture and risk management,
introduction of new technology, regulatory compliance and management of outsourced
technology providers. The Capex and Opex budgets under my control is one of the largest in the
country.
Chief General Manager (IT) (Sept ’11 to Sept ‘ 13)
In this role I was responsible for the IT operations of the Bank and ensuring availability and
replacement of Infrastructure, regulatory as well IPR related compliance, overall supervision of
change management process, incident management, vendor management, software
development andUAT.
General Manager (NetworkII), Bhopal (Sept 09 to Sept 11)
I was in-charge of one of the biggest retail networks of the Bank with over 750 branches and an
aggregate business level of over Rs.50,000 crores. Most of the branches of the State Bank of
Indore were in my area of operation and managed the smooth merger of the bank into SBI. I was
member of the Circle Credit Committee I which sanctioned advances upto Rs. 50crores and
chairman of Circle Credit Committee II which sanctioned advances upto Rs. 25crores. It was one
of the top performing Networks and topped in many level campaigns.
General Manager (Payment Solutions),Corporate Centre (Nov’07 to Sept ‘ 09)
This was a policy oriented assignment with a view to develop payments business in the Bank.
During this period the revised payments organization was approved.It
Important Achievements
Migrated of Antwerp Branch to a new technology platform.
Set up a fully outsourcedContactcentre, which has grown eventuallyto over 1,200 seats.
Was instrumental in introducing many payment products in the group for funds transfer
within the country andalso globally.
2. Introduced mobile banking in the Bank which as per RBI statistics was a market leader for
nearly three years.
Facilitated Madhya Pradesh govt. to become the first in the country to link the payments
of all its Treasuries to the Corporate Internet Banking product of the Bank thereby
facilitating seamlesstransfer of payments.
Actively supported the use of PCs at kiosks as opposed to mobile phone/ card based
technologies for financial inclusion and this has now become a standard across the
industry.
A number of major projects have been completed in the last three years including
migration of Communication Network to MPLS, Setting up of Data Warehousing
Infrastructure, Creation of Analytics and Social Media wings, migration to a new ATM
switch, introduction of Active Directory Services across the Bank, second factor bio-
metric authentication for all Core Banking users, upgradation of Payment Gateway,
revamping of Internet Banking and Core Banking, installation of mobility digital platform
and development of many applications for mobile / TAB devices, migration of Foreign
Offices to New version of Finacle, etc.
Policy Initiatives
Formulated the first policy for tie-up of e-commerce sites to the Bank’s payment and
internet bankingin 2008.
Worked with Mckinsey & Co to come out with an organizational structure and business
plan for the Payments initiative of the Bank.
Formulated the restructuring plan for the entire IT Dept to improve Corporate
Governance andControlwhich has been implemented in 2013.
Many policies pertaining to IT Risk and Compliance formulated and implemented in the
bank.
Committees
I headed a Committee of executives of select public sector banks to solve all technology
related issues pertaining to Jan Dhan Program (appointed by Dept. of Financial
Services).
Member of the Committee appointed by Govt. of India to study and suggest
modifications to the roll-outof LPG subsidy throughdirect transfer(2014).
I headed a Committee to formulate a policy for the fully outsourced Opex model of ATM
deployment for PSU banks which resulted in installation of over 40,000 ATMs across the
country (2012 – 13).
Member of many internalCommittees for procurement of new solutions/ hardware.
3. Recognitions
A number of awards were received by the bank for various IT related applications from IBA,
IDRBT, Skoch etc Chaired many panel discussions on Financial Inclusion and Payments and IT
Strategy.
After retirement Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of National Payments
Corporation.
