Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking group in the region, is a market leader across core
business lines and the leading retail banking franchise, with more than 220 branches and over
940 ATMs and Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) spread across UAE and overseas. The
Group has operations in the UAE, Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United
Kingdom and representative offices in India, China and Indonesia.
When Dubai Bank was taken over by Emirates NBD Group in 2012, I moved into Group IT
department as Associate Vice President in the Application Development space. I was primarily
responsible for the Information Management and Governance which included managing the
Enterprise Datawarehouse, Business Intelligence and Analytics domain for the group. I was later
promoted to Vice President – Applications Management and Development in Jan 2016.
My responsibilities included determining the strategic information needs and directing the
delivery of an information systems vision, and associated roadmaps. This included managing the
data / dashboard / analytics needs of the business, working with the Enterprise Architecture
team for drawing up the Data Architecture roadmap, planning and forecasting the budget and
resource requirements of the domain, liaising with the vendors and getting the best value for the
investments being made on Data Management and Governance.
I was responsible for managing the portfolio of the projects being executed by the domain,
ensuring smooth running of the various systems viz. ETLs, Reports, Dashboards, Databases and
Applications within the data domain. I also co-chaired the Data Governance Working
Committee. I had a team of about 30+ technical and project management resources who took
care of the day to day operational aspects of the domain and additionally vendors / partners who
were responsible for delivery of the various initiatives.
Key deliveries included implementation of the Corporate Banking Datamart which included
Customer Profitability Reporting, Automation of the Performance Management Reporting Pack,
Compliance Reporting Automation which included demographic and transaction analysis,
Dashboards for Retail Unit representing KPIs at different levels viz. Branch Manager, Segment,
Area, Product etc., Dashboards for IT, HR, Finance and Operations.
My responsibilities also included working with the business to implement various Use Cases to
leverage value from Big Data.
Managed to reduce the team strength from 43 to 25 in 3 years. This was done by introducing
more automation, putting in better controls and having proper governance. Managed to improve
the customer satisfaction rating and employee engagement rating.

Dubai Bank, one of the region’s leading Sharia compliant bank offering innovative financial
products and services. Dubai Bank had about 22 branches and focused on the affluent and mass
affluent market segments. Dubai Bank IT had been recognized by various independent bodies in
the region for its contribution in the growth and success of the bank. In September 2011, Dubai
Bank IT was awarded the Best IT Department in the region.
As Head of Business Solutions, I reported to the Chief Information Officer of Dubai Bank. In
this capacity, I was responsible for converting business expectations into initiatives, identifying
solutions and ensuring the successful implementation of the initiatives. My responsibilities
included ensuring smooth functioning and running of all the core business applications of the
bank. We had about 50+ applications of which about 30+ were critical applications which were
supported by this team. My team was divided into four main streams viz. Core Banking,
Channels, Value Added Services and Business Intelligence & Enterprise Business Applications. I
had about 16 internal and 15 external staff reporting to me but, the daily operational aspects
were handled by the stream leads.
I was responsible for the strategic planning, budgeting, vendor management, business
relationship management and audit management for the Application Portfolio under the
Business Solutions Team. I represented the team in meetings with the Senior Management of the
Bank.

Al-Futtaim Technologies, one of the region’s leading system integrators, is part of the Al-

Center and IVR Applications for various clients in this region.

Futech was an Al-Futtaim Group Company. Futech was a Software Consultancy company that
specialized in the financial vertical and offered consultancy/advisory services to various
organizations in the Financial Services industry. As a part of consolidation, this company was
merged with Al-Futtaim Technologies in June 2010.
 I reported to the Chief Technology Officer and was involved in Client Handling and Project
Delivery as a day-to-day function.
 Some of the consulting assignments completed –
o System Evaluation and Selection, Infrastructure Setup and Program management of
an Islamic Banking system implementation for an Islamic Finance Institution in
Dubai.
o Right Sourcing strategy for a customer in Qatar. Detailed location analysis, costing
and budgeting exercise, resource planning, liaising with accountant for company
setup requirements and preparing an application assessment, sequencing and
transition plan.
o Requirements Gathering Workshop at Emirates Airlines for developing a Business
Intelligence Portal for their Procurement and Logistics department.
o PMO Function for a Finance Company in Abu Dhabi. As a part of this project, my
team was responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of FinnOne (loan
origination, loan management and collections management system) and OmniDocs
(document management system) for this organization. We were involved in the
Requirements Gathering, Gap Analysis, Reviewing Test Scripts, Clarifying user and
vendor queries etc. Here we were also responsible for defining the strategy,
approach and execution of data migration from the old system to FinnOne. We also
provided a strategy and roadmap for the reporting requirements of the organization.
We facilitated in setting up of the OBIEE framework and repository for all business
reporting.
o Managed the outsourced development of a Manpower Cost Budgeting Application
for the Al-Futtaim Group HR department.
o System Evaluation and Selection of a Web Content Management system for the Al-
Futtaim Marketing and Service Company.
o System Evaluation, Selection and Project Management of a Private Banking /
Wealth Management System for Arab Emirates Investment Bank.
o Consulting Assignment to prepare a Business Case and Business Requirements
Document for Gulf Finance Company to help them select an End-to-end lending
solution.
 Responsible for ensuring that all the projects being delivered / implemented / supported by
Futech adhere to the set standards for Project Management, SDLC and Quality.
 As a part of PMO, I oversaw the project management activities for all projects within
Futech. Other responsibilities include mentoring Project Managers, Client Liaising,

Mindscape is a Technology Management company that offers IT solutions and services to
financial institutions and banks in the Gulf region. The organization is a SEI-CMM Level 3 and
ISO-9000 certified organization. I was promoted to Vice President at the time of leaving this
organization.
 I reported to the Senior Vice President and was responsible for the enhancement /
development, support and smooth running of the core banking applications of
MashreqBank - one of the leading banks in the U.A.E and one of our main customers. The
systems primarily supported include the Core Banking System, Islamic Banking System and
the Trade Finance system.
 Responsible for the development and deployment of an in-house developed Islamic Banking
solution for the Islamic subsidiary of Mashreqbank (Badr-Al-Islami). The solution was
developed based on the business requirements of Badr-Al-Islami.
 As a part of the support, key tasks include managing relationships with the business groups
within the bank and ensuring high levels of service delivery.
 Managing a team of professionals who plan and execute projects for MashreqBank.
Responsible for all the project/software development done in-house as well as offshore.
 Ensure proper resource allocation and prioritization of the different projects.
 Involved in the high-level analysis of certain key business and technical requirements of the
various business groups within MashreqBank and initiating Application Development /
Procurement as the need might be.
 Responsible for liaising with the vendors, suppliers and other stakeholders in ensuring that
the service level agreements are met on all the mission critical applications of the bank.
 Responsible for the software evaluation, selection and negotiation with vendors for business
requirement that warrants purchase of off-the-shelf packages. Also responsible for choosing
the right technology and ensuring timely delivery of the solution. Most of the scoping and
project management is done in-house.
 Had the best negotiated deals from Vendors – the appropriate technology was chosen at the
best rates.
 Work with the business representatives and external consultancy firms like A.T. Kearney to
prepare the strategic plans related to technology.
 Headed the group responsible for defining and implementing the various Project
Management processes for the organization viz. Project Proposal, Project Initiation, Project
Planning, Project Tracking and Control, Estimation, Measurements, Post Project Evaluation
and Inter-group co-ordination.
 Played a pivotal role in the building of organization’s Quality Management System and also
played an active role in institutionalizing of the QMS by conducting training on project
management processes defined in QMS.
 Played a very key role in the CMM Level 3 and ISO assessment of the organization.
 Successfully migrated three of the Banking applications from legacy Unisys mainframe
environment to the new Windows platform using a tool called LION resulting in major cost
savings for the bank.
 Headed a steering committee to do a detailed cost benefit analysis and a detailed study on
the approach for the complete migration with regards to Infrastructure, Security, Technology
Architecture, Application and Business processes.
 Liaised with Microsoft to ensure successful migration to the open platform. Attended a two-
day Executive Briefing Session at Microsoft Headquarters, Redmond, USA.

 Involved in the testing/benchmarking of the LION application on the Windows platform in
Amsterdam during the TechEd 2005 and also at Microsoft Technology Center in Dubai

Assistant Vice President, MashreqBank, Dubai, UAE, 1996 to 2002

MashreqBank is one of the leading banks in the U.A.E. having around 40+ branches in the
UAE and about 10 branches overseas.
 Responsible for the development, support, enhancement and implementation of key
modules of the core banking system BANKSYS.
 Successfully implemented the Y2K compliance program for the core banking application
within time and budget.
 Implemented the trade finance system-BankTrade in a record time of 7 months. This was
done in close co-ordination with the Trade Finance department of the bank.
 Successfully implemented General Ledger interfaces to the Oracle Financials system.
 Successfully implemented the core application interfaces to the Internet Banking system.
 Successfully implemented the Delinquency-tracking module within the core banking system.
 Involved in the system design, development and implementation of various banking
products.
 Managing the BankTrade application with minimal vendor support.

Tata Unisys Limited – now a part of Tata Consultancy Services is one of the leading IT
consultancy companies in India. During my stay as Senior Systems Analyst with Tata Unisys
Limited, I got exposure to Team Leadership, Detail design, Development and Quality assurance.
 Involved in the implementation of MRP solution for Laclede Steel Company – wherein I
was involved in the system study and design on-site at Laclede Steel Company in the USA.
 Lead a team of developers offshore to achieve project goals in terms of schedule and quality.
 Responsible for the design and implementation of Sales, Quality, Inventory and AR modules
 Responsible for work allocation, development guidelines and procedures, technical

Voltas Limited, is one of the leading air-conditioning and engineering services provider in
India. During my stay with Voltas Limited, I was involved in the design and development of a
few commercial applications for the Chemical Division and Appliances Business Group.
 Involved in the requirements study, design, development, testing and implementation of
Dispatch Processing System for the Chemicals Division. This system included Order
Management, Inventory Management, Invoicing and Outstanding Maintenance.
 Involved in the requirements study, design, development, testing and implementation of Call
Monitoring and Maintenance Service System for the Appliances Business Group. CMS
monitors the breakdown calls logged against the air-conditioners and water-coolers
manufactured by Voltas Limited. This system also helps in keeping track of loan units and
reducing down time. The maintenance service module keeps track of the contract expiry
dates of the ACs and WCs and sends Offer letters and Service Schedules for these machines.

Kale Consultants Ltd. is India’s leading developer of software products for Airline and Banking
industries. As a part of M.C.A curriculum, I did my in-plant training at KCL. Here, I was
involved in the design and development of Sales Information System for Hindustan Lever
Limited.
 Involved in development of Sales Information System for Hindustan Lever Limited. This
system helped in monitoring the secondary sales at area, zone and branch of the various
consumables manufactured by HLL. A graphical trend analysis was also provided for making
strategic decisions.
 Involved in design and development of Time and Cost Manager for a German Inspection
company. This system gives the status of any project or job at ant point of time. The system
also gives the comparison of the present status with the initial estimates for any job. The
initial estimates are entered when a job or project is started and the current values are
updated based on the Time & Cost sheet filled up by each engineer every week.

The Group has operations in the UAE, Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and representative offices in India, China and Indonesia. When Dubai Bank was taken over by Emirates NBD Group in 2012, I moved into Group IT department as Associate Vice President in the Application Development space. I was primarily responsible for the Information Management and Governance which included managing the Enterprise Datawarehouse, Business Intelligence and Analytics domain for the group. I was later promoted to Vice President – Applications Management and Development in Jan 2016.
