Objectives
My career goals are to work with plants and soil, whether it be agronomic or horticultural. I also have a passion for
working with people, especially producers. I would like to work with producers and help guide them in the best
direction to improve their operation. In pursuit of this goal I find education and environmental stewardship to be
critical tools.

Intern to Farm Manager (May 2014 – August 2014)
Bear Mountain Orchards (1415 Potato Rd, Aspers, PA 17304)
I worked with the Farm Manager to write spray schedules and keep an inventory of pesticide materials. I also was
responsible for general record keeping and tree maintenance. I was able to observe many aspects of the commercial
fruit packing and production process.
Farmers Market Employee (June 2014 – August 2014)
Three Springs Fruit Farm (1606 Bendersville Wenksville Road, Aspers, PA 17304)
I traveled to Philadelphia PA with Three Springs Fruit Farm to help them sell produce at a farmers market. I was
responsible for general set up, organization, public education, cashier tasks and interacting with customers every
weekly.
Research Assistant (May 7, 2012 – August 22, 2012)

I was responsible for helping with the care of the orchards including pruning, thinning, irrigation, and other tasks. I was
also responsible for assisting in the collection and organization of the data.
Research Assistant (September 2012 – December 2012)
Dr. Jonathan Lynch’s Root Biology Lab (Horticulture Department, Pennsylvania State University)
I worked under Jimmy Burridge, a graduate student of Dr. Lynch in this laboratory internship. We worked on a project
genotyping a population of beans for their root traits. I performed data collection and did some basic data analysis. I
completed a report to finalize my experience and show the findings I had from the semester’s experiments.
Cashier/General Worker (May 2009 – August 2011)

I was responsible for helping to take care of the annuals, perennials, and trees at this garden center. I was also
responsible for the register and helping customers.

At the 2013 National Collegiate Soil Judging Contest I placed 3rd
as an individual and was chosen to represent the
US at the International Soil Judging Competition in Jeju, South Korea.
I received the President’s Freshman and Sparks Awards for my academic achievement
I am a member of the Penn State Ag Advocates, a group of undergraduate student leaders chosen to represent the
College of Agricultural Sciences.
I received Keystone FFA Degree in 2011 and American Degree in 2014
Skills
I have gained hands on knowledge in the soil competitions by analyzing and describing soils. I have skills required
to assess the soil’s physical properties and suitability for different uses.
I have experience working with greenhouse perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs.
I’ve had scouting responsibilities for both diseases and pests of tree fruit.
I feel confident in working with pesticide calculations and writing spray schedules for applicators.
I have experience with general tree maintenance and care of apple and peach trees in orchards.
I have worked in a lab setting and learned how data needs to be collected, analyzed, and made into a useful
