The document summarizes events in the fictional Kingdom of Avonlea involving two families, the Shahan and Gable households. Gardiner Shahan oversees the kingdom's library and has two new daughters, Emma and Catherine, with his wife Isabella. Diana Gable gives birth to twins, a daughter Marilla and son John heir. Her brother Charlie continues working the fields for their lord while his wife Marisa assists with midwifery and household duties, aided by her mother-in-law Anne.
2. Welcome back to Avonlea! Our first stop in Generation 2 is to visit with the
Shahan and Gable households. If you all remember they are my kingdom’s
resident peasant family. Though with Gardiner here’s ability to make
connections, I wonder how much longer than will last. Gardiner if you
remember is the son of Isabella Greaves. He became a warlock in his teen
years and is the oldest of generation two. He know oversees the kingdom’s
library.
3. The library is still quite small, but it’s quickly becoming a regular gathering
place for various members of the kingdom. Even some of the more uppity
members of the kingdom such a Alberta Scrubb have to admit Master
Shahan is doing quite well in his post.
4. Gardiner also makes time to visit The Palace of Eternal Light to study
his craft. Should his talents ever be required he wants to be prepared.
5. Back at their small abode his eldest daughter Maria was growing
quickly. To my delight she inherited her grandmother Anne’s blonde
hair. She looks a lot like Diana….nope I don’t see any of Gardiner or
Isabella in this one Oh well there’s always the next one. Gardiner
needs a son after all.
6. Le sigh some things never change. Isabella comes over to visit with her son
and grandchild and what’s the first thing she does? Yep, tidy up the place. On
the plus side she alerted me to the fact that I forgot to renovate that room of
the house. Thanks Izzie.
“No problem Mystery.”
Yes she can still break the fourth wall. *sticks out tongue*
7. Her other grandparents and Uncles are also regular visitors too. I love that they all
autonomously play with Maria.
8. Maria is spoiled rotten. You’d think she was a princess with all the
attention she gets.
9. Ahem though Maria will soon be sharing that attention with her new
brother or sister.
10. I like to think Izzie took the news well that her son will be bringing a
rather peculiar child into world of Avonlea.
“Well he is the town Maester and are they not all a bit peculiar if they
have talent?”
True.
11. The only real issue anyone seems to have is that in his current condition the
library has fallen to the wayside.
“I did not entrust your family with the task of renovating the tower so that he
could let it slip into further decay. Do tell him to make quick work of his
condition and return to his duties soon.”
“Of course Milord.”
12. At the end of their rotation the Shahan’s welcomed not 1 but 2 more
daughters into the family. Not to worry though Diana is indeed
pregnant again. The girls were named Emma and Catherine.
It was at this point I finally stopped being lazy and redid their house.
13. Meanwhile Diana’s brother Charlie has taken the reigns of the Gable
house from his father. The Gables still work the fields for Lord Hamilton
as they once did for Lord Monty. Though all are hoping Lord Edward
proves to be a better master.
14. Due to his late arrival in the generation young Matthew is still about the small
abode to offer help. It does make the back-breaking labor go more quickly
with his help.
For her part Marisa spends her days at home overseeing the cooking and
cleaning. Although she came to the family as a trained mid-wife and at times
left the home to attend to the peasant women throughout town.
15. In what little free time he had (which wasn’t much) Charlie loved
nothing more than to fish at the local pond. Like his father he
dreamed of serving in the kingdom’s navy.
16. Unfortunately Snaggles is getting up there in years and I do want the
family to keep a dog through the entire challenge. I guess I’ll have them
adopt another one soon.
17. This makes me all kinds of sad. Snaggles really has been a great
wolf. He’s been great for keeping elders like Anne occupied.
18. However, the following night Abbey joined the pack. And she’s
already trying to act like she owns the place. No worries I’ll
have young Matthew scold her until she learns her place. After
all Matthew’s a spare and good for stuff like training unruly
dogs.
19. Gardiner Shahan is a regular visitor to the Gable home. He just
flies on in and makes himself at home.
20. By you know doing all the housework he can find. *snort*
21. He always manages to find his way straight to the table the
minute he smells Anne’s fish though.
Anne does most of the cooking and cleaning these days. She’s
a bit worried about Marisa.
22. She appears to be of a much more delicate nature. Anne of
course has said nothing of her worries to Charlie. What would a
man understand of such things?
23. Besides even she can see the woman makes her son happy. Nope it was time to
call in some re-enforcements.
24. Who else did you expect?
Yep Anne and Isabella
remain the best of friends.
Heck I even dressed them in
the same dress by accident.
I’m leaving it though
because it’s like these two
have known each other so
long they are starting to think
alike.
“Of course I don’t mind
helping you around the
house Anne! Don’t you worry
we’ll make sure the sweet
girl makes it through her
pregnancies alright.”
25. They did make it through though Anne just couldn’t stay up
another second after the twins were born. That’s right
MORE twins. One of each this time. Marisa is holding their
daughter Marilla, while Charlie holds the Gable third
generation heir John.
26. It turns out Uncle Matthew is quite fond of his niece and nephew.
I’m always finding him snuggling with them. Awww.
27. The fact that the lad was the first one on the scene when Marisa went
into labor doesn’t seem to have phased him too much either.
28. Sunday was family day so Isabella and the Shahan’s were invited
over. Marisa spent her day wandering about the house with piece of
wood and a jar begging for money much to the other women’s
distress.
29. Fortunately, none of the men came inside. There was NO telling
what they would think.
30. Thankfully by evening, the three women seemed to have calmed
young Marisa down and gotten her into somewhat better spirits.
Anne simply waved off the men folk’s concern about her cooking yet
another meal for everyone instead of Marisa.
31. We’ll end the rotation with Gilbert discussing the strange fact that
Lord Favian seems to have left him money in his will.
